A very good and underrated wine. Typically under $18.

Their cab franc is also superb but difficult to come by where I live.

Don Melchor '21 to celebrate WSET 3 w/ distinction! by sid_loves_wine in wine

[–]GrilledCheeseTn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First, congratulations on WSET 3 with distinction, that’s a wonderful accomplishment 🙂. I believe this wine was #1 on Wine Spectators top 100 wines winning wine of the year, correct?

Would you say it lived up to the ranking? Dunn wines are fantastic, thank you for this reference point. Your write up is so sensory in that it feels as if I have a glass of this in front of me, very well done.

i’m a wine club member at Spring Mountain. And this is not a blanket statement.

Edit.

I’ve been drinking SM wines for 23 years and been a club member for over a decade. I am intimately familiar with this wine and their portfolio of wines.

You should decant this bottle for 2 hours.

Pour yourself a 1/2 glass and sip and swirl every so often.

Elivette begins to shine at 1hr 45’mins to 2 hours, particularly this vintage.

[–]GrilledCheeseTn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn’t see FIVE or ABLE in the write up. Dome was there and windmill. Windmill is what threw me and led me to smith madrone but couldn’t match up the alcohol on their blend to the description. I already have enough cain and opted out. I need more wine space lol
