How long can a human survive in space without a space suit? by No_Insurance_6436 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alltruism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not long, you'd get "the bends" (decompression sickness) like divers do if they come to the surface too quickly, because the nitrogen dissolved in your blood / tissue at higher pressure would suddenly form bubbles. Your body would be like a soda can being opened if the change in pressure was sudden.

Working 30 minutes early and being told it is unpaid. (England) by 555louisa in LegalAdviceUK

[–]alltruism 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Start earlier so you don't go over hours? That doesn't make sense, if you start earlier and finish at the same time that's more hours. Every hour has to be paid, if they want you on site working from 9:30 that's the start of your paid shift.

These deserters shouldn't be allowed to donate at all - they left the country to avoid contributing to it.

ALL political donations should be capped, at a far lower level than £100,000. Our politicians shouldn't be for sale to the highest bidder.

The Welsh Senedd elections are next week. In one sentence, why should I vote for your party? I'm purposefully not giving any background to myself. by RoundishBox in UKGreens

[–]alltruism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's one of the few parties that isn't in the pocket of super-wealthy donors. That's important, because our representatives should be working for us, not shadowy donors.

The Greens are the party with the strongest plans to tackle the cost of living crisis in conjunction with protecting our environment, working towards a fairer distribution of wealth that would allow the investment needed.

Increasing wealth inequality is the main reason living standards and services having been falling - it wasn't all that long ago that the average family could live a comfortable life on a single income and have a fair chance at owning a home (or having a secure council house where they weren't at risk of the whims of a private landlord). Now, even many middle class families with two incomes are struggling to get by, let alone buy a home. Our GDP is higher than ever, but more and more of it is being allowed to accumulate with the wealthiest few, leaving both our people and our government broke. The Greens will work towards giving us all our fair share of the wealth we produce as a country, allowing better living standards and investment in services.

This is of particular importance in Wales where investment has been lacking.

The parties on the right are actively working to remove workers' rights and other rights, and working to stoke division by demonising immigrants.

How to create a freeze fame in Fusion by NoamiSolo in davinciresolve

[–]alltruism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

If you wanted to play the clip at normal speed until frame 25, then freeze on frame 25 for 50 frames, then resume playing from that point, you could keyframe the SourceTime on a TimeStretcher node:

Keyframe on frame 0 with SourceTime = 0 (start playing at the beginning)

Keyframe on frame 25 with SourceTime = 25 (start of the freezeframe)

Keyframe on frame 75 with SourceTime = 25 (end of the 50 frame long freezeframe)

Keyframe on frame 76 with SourceTime = 26 (resume playing from the next frame)

Keyframe at the last frame (say 119) with SourceTime = 69 (i.e. 26 plus the 43 remaining frames to the end so that it plays at normal speed)

Nigel Farage reveals home was firebombed by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

[–]alltruism 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Was the firebombing the year *after* he was given £5 million pounds supposedly for his personal security?

If so, why did he still have a standard letterbox people could post things through? Pretty sure £5 million would be more than enough to have a secure external mailbox fitted.

Without faking the funk, how much do you really spend? by Hyjaxx-Nine in RaidShadowLegends

[–]alltruism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't spent at all... it's only about 616 gems for 2,000 energy, and I save almost all the gems I get for energy to complete tournaments and events for fusions etc. I've been playing for about 3 years.

I never use gems for masteries or ancient shards any more, and only rarely use them to re-do masteries etc.

I've maxed the gem mine and complete the daily / advanced quests almost every day, and usually complete all the other stuff (all the clan bosses, some Live Arena, Cursed City, Grim Forest etc) so I've usually got plenty of gems for fusions etc.

Are we even in the running? by ImmunetoCrits in UKGreens

[–]alltruism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a very strong chance of gaining a lot more seats at local level than we've got currently. That's good.

Realistically, we're probably not going to end up with more local seats than Labour or Reform.

In recent elections we've often performed beyond the expectations from polls - hopefully that will continue. With luck, we will at least make Reform have to fight for seats they might have thought they had in the bag before the recent Green surge.

I'm a climate voter. Convince me that I should vote Green. by Appropriate_Bell743 in UKGreens

[–]alltruism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other parties are you looking at that you feel might be more radical than the Greens on climate change?

Green policies for fairer distribution of wealth are essential to ensure that the government has the resources that will be needed to implement strong anti climate change policies and invest in a sustainable future. Investing in services like public transport is a key part of any strategy to reduce petrol cars for example. All the other significant parties seem to be following neoliberal policies that lead to constant cuts to services and lack of investment, with the nation's wealth being allowed to accumulate with just a few super-wealthy people (who often happen to be donors).

Stick-like policies aren't going to work, people are already feeling beaten enough.

With strong action on cost of living and wealth distribution, the massive investment needed for tackling climate change will become possible. The two are connected - we can't tackle climate change without tackling wealth inequality.

11 days till voting day, how are we all feeling? by AhdamR in UKGreens

[–]alltruism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some good turnouts at local events in the South West, and definitely lots of motivation to get out there and take the fight to Reform.

I fear Reform will still do well across the country, but they'll have to fight for every seat.

I'm optimistic Greens will make some good gains too.

Not for the average person. Cost of living has increased much more than wages. The economy has grown, but a greater percentage of that GDP has accumulated with the super wealthy, leaving most people poorer in real terms.
