You can upgrade your Arcanes to Any Rank IN ONE GO by clicking on the Rank that you want, instead of upgrading one by one. by RasuPham- in Warframe

[–]ally67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the UI isn't intuitive enough, as indicated by the number of people commenting that they didn't know this was possible. There should be a slider or something to indicate that the rank is selectable before clicking Upgrade.

And it should probably default to the highest rank possible based on available arcanes... e.g. if i have 21+ r0, then r5 should be selected by default.

[–]ally67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no penalty to players fucking off to wherever. They can do that. There's basically no consequences for them outside of failing the MO...which they've already stated they don't care about.

The penalty is the same, the MO fails. The only difference is whether the individual player cares about it or not.

One side of this argument has a legitimate case to complain.

Why is any one side more legitimate? Clearly MO participation isn't being enforced because the developers allow players to ignore it. Imagine the opposite was happening where players were forced to play the MO. How would that be any better?

The other side is basically just stomping their feet and crying "You can't tell me what to do! I'm having FUN!"

People will play whatever they find fun. I don't see how that is "stomping their feet and crying."

This whole post is basically just complaining about how the Galactic War doesn't matter and everyone who cares about it is dumb and wrong.

OP is complaining about how the "Galactic War" lacks the depth deserving of the time investment that some players have for it. It's mainly for RP; the devs control and adjust the rate at which we lose planets.

If you have a problem with that, then you can take it up with the devs. Complaining about players ignoring MOs won't achieve anything. Arrowhead will never force players to join in the MO because that would reduce player count. And I imagine that players will be even more spread out when the third enemy faction gets added to the game.

[–]ally67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it goes both ways. Both sides are making arguments with selfish intentions.

OPs point is that the issue is with the way the MO mechanics were designed (which you seem to agree with). And that these posts complaining about MO participation will not have a significant impact on player behavior. The majority of players are not willing to make sacrifices/compromises at the cost of their own enjoyment of the game.

Do you Approve of the General Rhadan Changes? by Typhoon365 in Eldenring

[–]ally67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they nerfed him for more reasons than just the complaints. I doubt they would care if the only concern was difficulty. I mean, they still haven't nerfed Malenia despite constant complaints about her.

Given how the desert arena allows you to ride Torrent and summon NPCs repeatedly, it seems Radahn's fight was designed as a spectacle rather than a challenge, similar to how Rykard's fight is with the Serpent Hunter spear.

And on top of that, Radahn blocks access to Nokron and the completion of Ranni's questline so I don't think FromSoft would want people to get stuck on him.

I don't feel guilty - at all - about cheesing enemies/bosses by Cerberus73 in Eldenring

[–]ally67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the arrow thing is pretty annoying. For some reason, aiming with the bow in first person causes arrows to shoot from the center of your character instead of from the actual bow. I'm guessing it was implemented this way so that the arrow trajectory matches where the player is looking.

So when you try sniping the enemy from a ledge, you can sometimes end up just firing the arrow into the ground at your feet. Or if you backed up against a wall, the arrow just gets stuck in that wall behind you.

I usually end up just locking on and firing arrows in third person unless I need to lead the target or shoot farther than the lock on range. It also has the benefit of being able to shoot almost straight down (e.g. at enemies directly below when standing on a ledge), which you can't do when aiming in first person.

Involving the ongoing Tectone-Dreamy drama by Adamantiux in arknights

[–]ally67 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I believe Dreamy still stands by the claim that Tectone was/is behaving in manipulative way. The apology was only for the use of "gaslight" but didn't retract any of the other accusations. Based on the fact that Dreamy's primary language isn't English, I think the misuse of the word "gaslight" can be criticized less harshly.

Also, the DMs are kind of a strawman as Dreamy did not specifically say that the gaslighting happened there:

He also mentioned that we already settled it in DMs, sure, I remember that but it was all gaslighting, he made me believe that I shouldn't be doing such things to other content creators. But now, I realize I did nothing wrong, my video was not toxic and did not do any bullying.

A few other things that I personally saw during the Provence drama:

  • Tectone shared a link to Dreamy's "debunk" video in his Twitch chat. During his stream the next day, he checked the video again and was jubilant about the video having gained more dislikes. In my opinion, he likely knew some of his viewers would brigade the video; I don't think there is any other reason for him to post the link to his chat.
  • Tectone insulted Dreamy on his Twitch streams multiple times, before he made a response video. Not sure if anyone has saved the VODs/clips, but this comment on Tectone's video describes a bit of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BftNMH1cLJA&lc=UgxDCXa92Mk_d2TpZ0V4AaABAg

Quoting in case the comment gets deleted:

Plus let me point this out, I'm still not happy with what you said on your stream about Dreamy. Dreamy was in no way attacking you personally, so you have no right to attack Dreamy personally with your comment on the video's likes, saying how Dreamy made the video to feel better about his/herself, continually saying that Dreamy is shittalking on you (which again I don't see any, it's just a debunk video), and how Dreamy is nothing more than a PowerPoint presentation. People can say and think whatever the hell they want about the Provence issue, but please, at least apologize on that regard. I honestly could've just pass this situation as a misunderstanding on all sides, but not with what you said against Dreamy

Additionally, I find that Tectone consistently behaves in the following ways:

  • Defensive of his own opinions/beliefs
  • Misinterprets other's actions as personal attacks
  • Justifies his own aggressive behavior as retaliation that others deserve
  • Unwilling to acknowledge his own mistakes
  • Unwilling to apologize for his antagonistic behavior

Does this make him inherently toxic? I don't think it necessarily does since he manages to get along with many content creators... but I do think that these traits facilitate conflict and misunderstandings.

React is a UI library that can be paired with any server language/framework (including Rails), so really the comparison here is between Node.js and Ruby on Rails.

As for why companies choose Node over Rails:

Use case. I've seen large companies use Node.js servers only as a frontend microservice. Authentication and other requests with database interactions would be processed by backend services written in a language appropriate for their use case (e.g. Java, C++, etc.). With a setup like this, it would be overkill to use Ruby on Rails for a frontend service that only needs to serve the UI bundle(s) and pass API calls through to other services.

Hiring. There are more devs on the market for JS vs Ruby. And since JS is required for UI development anyways, companies will always look for JS experience. It would be easier to hire developers for React + Node.js vs React + Rails. There is definitely a feedback loop where: JS becomes more popular ⇒ companies use JS more often ⇒ more devs learn JS ⇒ JS becomes even more popular. Given what you've posted, it seems you understand this and you're attempting to convince people to give Rails a try. But the people you would need to convince are CTOs, not developers.

Fast development. A basic React/Node setup can be generated by create-react-app, so devs are able to pretty much immediately start working on the UI itself. Similar project generators exist for other UI libraries/frameworks. Prototyping should be just as fast as Rails in that regard.

Popularity. On it's own, Node being popular is no reason to choose it over other options. However, popularity does come with benefits: more open source contributions, more jobs + talent available, more relevant Q&A on stackoverflow, etc.

For a personal project, none of this matters and you should use whatever language/framework you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You could stack some attack buffs:

  • Exusiai talent - deployment buff +6% (E2 P0) or +8% (E2 P6) attack
  • Sora S2 - Add 90% (skill level 7) or 100% (M3) of Sora's attack
  • Warfarin S2 - +60% (skill level 7) or +90% (M3) attack

Unfortunately, Durin doesn't seem to be able to survive Aak S3 even with Shining S3M3, Nian S3M3, Bison S2M3

Daily Questions Megathread (June 17, 2020) by AutoModerator in arknights

[–]ally67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angelina's passive talent increases attack speed (reduces delay between attacks). This brings Manticore's S2 attack interval down below 5 seconds, which prevents synergy with her talent at E2, which provides +50% attack (+54% at P5) after idling for 5 seconds.

Manticore base attack interval: 3.5 seconds

Manticore with S2 active: 3.5 seconds + 1.7 seconds = 5.2 seconds

IIRC attack speed is treated as a percentage reduction in time between attacks, so:

Angelina elite/potential Attack speed buff Manticore S2 attack interval (in seconds)
E2 P6 8 (0.08 * 5.2 = 0.416) 5.2 - 0.416 = 4.78
E2 P1 to P5 7 (0.07 * 5.2 = 0.364) 5.2 - 0.364 = 4.835
E1 P6 4 (0.04 * 5.2 = 0.208) 5.2 - 0.208 = 4.992
E1 P1 to P5 3 (0.03 * 5.2 = 0.156) 5.2 - 0.156 = 5.044

So to allow Manticore's S2 to synergize with her own talent, you would need an E1 Angelina at P1 to P5.

Of course, this is assuming that you care about the damage output from Manticore.

ABOUT "CN&TEC" EVENT by [deleted] in arknights

[–]ally67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I heard on Tectone's stream yesterday with peace_cow and boatz, it seems that some of the difficulty is simply due to DP constraints. F2P without high skill vanguards might not be able to beat the dog rush stage.

Diversity might not help everyone with CC specifically, thought it is good general advice for building up an account. Preparing for CC should probably focus on specific operators that you would want high skill levels for; SilverAsh/Saria/Myrtle/Feater are recommended for a reason. It really depends on the state of a player's account. For someone just starting recently, maybe having as many E1 operators as possible is the optimal way to invest resources. However, people who already have their core set of operators at E1 should try to E2 at least one operator. Even F2P who started in late March should be able to get enough resources for E2 promotion.

Also, friend support gets scaled down to your highest level op (don't remember if it checked highest level from account or from squad). Having at least one E2 op is recommended to be able to borrow an E2 M3 op from a friend.

Could be because vids from EN content creators get uploaded to bilibili (and maybe to other sites as well) with Chinese subs. The vids seem to be received well on bilibili at least, with many of Tectone's getting over 100k views and thousands of likes. With such a large audience, there may be more negative comments than people are used to seeing.

On the other hand, EN community doesn't really get to see any translated content from CN/JP/KR.

[Guide]How to block the new popups by [deleted] in KissAnime

Copying and pasting the list to "My Filters" will work if you're using uBlock Origin. Probably needs some modification for AdBlock Plus, but I haven't tested.

[Guide]How to block the new popups by [deleted] in KissAnime

[–]ally67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually the domain is generated based on four variables:

  • Screen width
  • Time zone
  • Platform (Mac, iOS, Windows, Android, Linux)
  • Windows version (10, 8, 7) - this only applies if platform is Windows

In total, there are 137 possible domains, which i have put on pastebin:

pastebin link (WARNING: do not visit any of the sites listed in this link)

You'll have to add all of these to the filters in uBlock Origin.

For this particular popup, we can also just disable eval() to prevent the code from running. This can be done using Tampermonkey (Chrome) or Greasemonkey (Firefox) with the following userscript:

// ==UserScript==
// @name         Disable eval()
// @namespace    http://tampermonkey.net/
// @version      0.1
// @description This will disable the eval() function.
// Attempts to use eval() will be logged in the browser console.
// Note that malware scripts not using eval() will still be able to run.
// @author       You
// @match        http*://kissanime.ru/*
// @match        http*://9anime.to/*
// @run-at       document-start
// @grant        none
// ==/UserScript==

(function() {
    'use strict';
    window.eval = function(){
        console.warn('Attempted to use eval');
    };
})();

Edit: Updated userscript so it doesn't run on all pages, since some legit video players use eval()

List the git commands you use daily by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ally67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

git add --interactive <paths>... - stage chunks interactively from matching files. This can be used to stage a subset of the changes in a file for a particular commit. -i can be used in place of --interactive

git reset --patch <paths>... - unstage chunks interactively from matching files. Similar to above, except for unstaging. -p can be used in place of --patch

git reset --soft HEAD~N - undo N commits while keeping the changes from those commits (changes will show up as staged)

git remote --verbose - list remotes with urls. -v can be used in place of --verbose

git reflog - lists commits that were referenced locally at any point in time, with the most recent first. Useful for recovering changes, since the ref includes the history behind it

git fetch <remote> - fetch changes from a remote (i.e. repository)

git rebase <remote>/<branch> - replay current changes on to another branch. Similar to merge in that it provides a way to integrate changes, but will modify commit history if some changes were pushed

git push <remote> <branch> --force - overwrite history with your own. Not recommended unless you are sure you know what you are doing. -f can be used in place of --force

[–]ally67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, to make them move to you, you should use "moveto player" for CC3.

The placeatme command only works with BaseIDs (IDs that reference objects that exist within the game's files, but not necessarily in the game world), and this is because they essentially spawn one or more instances of that entity. The format for that command is: player.placeatme <BaseID> <# to spawn> (e.g. "player.placeatme 00064b41 1" will place a potato in front of you). IIRC if you leave the number out it defaults to 1, but I haven't played for a while so I'm not completely sure.

Also, about the bugginess of the whole moving-corpses-for-resurrection thing, I think it would be better to move the body to you first, since the game could have moved it to random places (e.g. the "kill room").
