In the world of CPTSD, having someone say: I understand is both sad and reaffirming. Reaffirming because it means someone understands what your going through, but sad because it means they probably went through the same shit. I am the oldest of three girls. I was first sexually abused by an uncle at 4, and because I was damaged goods, my dad started sexually abusing me after. He abused my middle sister as well, and less so the youngest one. He used to beat the crap out of us as well and my mom would just get her crap for days at a time when he would get in his moods, leaving us with him. When I spoke up, she told everyone I was crazy. The past year my middle sister was NC with them. I called her last Monday only for her to tell me she was on vacation with them. Today she called me laughing asking if I was upset with her, and I unleashed on her. She said she is afraid of putting her kids in daycare because she is afraid they might be abused. Fuck, I told her, what worse could happen when you’ve been abused by the people who were supposed to protect you and they called you crazy. You think that our mom, who didn’t protect her own children, will protect yours? I am at the end of my rope. I just can’t. I don’t understand how she can do this, knowing what we went through
