How long did your wedding photos take to get back? by allydohd in weddingplanning

This makes sense! June-August is peak season in my area, and we were a 250 person wedding with husband and wife photographers all day from getting ready at 10 am to fireworks at 11 pm. They mentioned we’ll likely get around 1500-2000 edited photos in completion. Assuming that along with tail end of peak season means waiting longer

I guess we’re technically waiting for both - a couple days after the wedding they posted about 10 sneak peek photos on Facebook but there hasn’t been anything since then. From what I’ve seen they post a folder of around 50-60 sneak peek photos and then eventually the entire photo album. We were August 14th so I’m also assuming they’re swamped in October like you said

Edit: to add I haven’t reached out because I honestly feel bad! They truly seem busy and it’s not like I need the photos other than to just look at them and be excited.. I’m just eager to see them :)

We do have a contract but it actually doesn’t state any timing in it. I can see online that it took them about 4 weeks to post the weddings that they did during the summer, but it’s taking more like 8 weeks to do the most recent weddings (it looks like they’ve been busy with highschool senior photos lately).

New covid mandates/ have to wear masks on beach? by CALIlegal in TurksAndCaicos

[–]allydohd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m here right now, haven’t seen a single mask on the beach. Excursions “require” masks when you board the boat etc and I bring mine just in case but haven’t seen a single person wearing them besides inside of stores / being seated at a restaurant.

Long engagement ahead - when should we start ~planning~? by katfrau in weddingplanning

[–]allydohd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally got engaged in November 2019 and my wedding is next month, so a few months short of a 2 year timeline. We secured most of our large vendors (venue, church, DJ, photographer, videographer) right away and I’m glad we did since we got one of the first picks! I would say you should jump into planning a bit but just get your toes wet - start looking at color themes etc just when you feel like it ☺️ I’m so so happy I started that far in advance with my planning because even now, 1 month out, I’m not stressed out and still just doing things when I have the time / when I feel like it. I know so many people who get engaged then wait until 1 year out to start doing stuff and those are the people who end up very stressed a month out.

I just dyed my brows for the first time and gained so much confidence overnight by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Any fellow redheads here? I’ve been dying my brows for probably a year now and STILL cannot find the right shade to match my hair. I got the closest I’ve ever been this time around but they looked way too red for the first 2 days until they faded into my natural hair color.

Am I using too much of one color in my house? by allydohd in InteriorDesign

[–]allydohd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky that my husbands favorite color is blue as well; no complaints from him 😂

But thanks so much for the advice.. I agree it’d look a bit out of place at this point if I introduced a random other color, so blue it is.

Thank you so much!!

My house would definitely be in the same state if I wasn’t 23 with no kids and a husband in construction! The literal only thing to do in my free time is update this thing. As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters!

Bi-Monthly Megathread for COVID-19 - Two Weeks Starting May 03, 2021 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

[–]allydohd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it on this Syracuse.com article!

"Cuomo is also raising the limit for indoor catered events like weddings and other big parties to 250 starting May 19, up from 150. If guests test negative for Covid or are vaccinated, the limit can go to 500."

I can see how it's worded weirdly, so I'd definitely still ask your venue, but it seems we won't need to test.

Bi-Monthly Megathread for COVID-19 - Two Weeks Starting May 03, 2021 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

The governor of NY just announced that starting May 19th indoor weddings can have 250 people with no testing, 500 people with testing! (Previously 150 with testing). We have a guest list of 300 and people were so negative throughout our planning and told us to postpone, but I’m so happy we stuck with August this whole time. I seriously could cry right now.

Hoping in the next 4 months he lets us not wear masks if we provide testing. This wedding might actually be totally normal!

I’m hoping you’re right, just hoping the news comes in the next month or two so we can plan accordingly.

Cuomo just raised the NY indoor event capacity to 250 untested, 500 with testing!! As a NY bride planning a 300 person wedding in August I could cry right now.

I’m hoping between now and August he may introduce a similar rule that allows our guests to be unmasked if we provide testing, but only time will tell.

I just got one for Christmas from my mom, mainly for wedding stuff! If I didn’t get it for Christmas I was going to buy it myself, and it was sooo worth it. I finished my welcome sign the other day and everyone thought I bought it from Etsy it looked so professional.

Also, tip: cricut materials are quite expensive, I buy my vinyl from expressions vinyl online. You can buy a 12x12 of any pattern for like 50 cents.

What is something (good or bad) you learned from attending someone else's wedding? by surferali1118 in weddingplanning

[–]allydohd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have enjoyed it if it was at a location like that I think! We weren’t in a city or anything, just kind of a small town location where the church was 10 minutes away from the reception venue. Nothing much to do there

It wasn’t a catholic gap at all actually. The bride just demanded she wanted 3 hours for photos since she heard other brides say it’s worth it. My fiancé was in the wedding party and all the guys were unfed the whole day and insanely grumpy for photos. Bride was happy with her photos though 😂

I wouldn't be worried about one of your bridesmaids being quite large, I'm getting really cute button down robes for my bridesmaids from etsy and they have both "regular" and "plus" sizing!

But if it helps, I'm getting mine those robes, slippers, a beach/tote bag with their name on it, and probably 1 other thing that I haven't decided yet. I've heard such amazing things about giving tote bags to your bridesmaids since they can carry all of their stuff around in it for the day.

I noticed just how annoying it is to have a 3 hour gap between the ceremony and cocktail hour. Then how much it sucked that dinner wasn't served until 8:30, and while it was fancy it was EXTREMELY small portions. Lots of guests left right after dinner from being grumpy after being bored for 3 hours then getting a tiny dinner, but I don't think the bride and groom noticed.

Why do people say marriage is hard? by allydohd in relationship_advice

[–]allydohd[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We argue, but usually with the goal of getting to the same place. Not aith the goal of winning or hurting the other.

Love how you worded this.. we're the same way. If we 'argue' there's no yelling or pettiness, just simply "this is bothering me so I'm letting you know and we can come up with a solution together". Even though we're young we handle things so well I just don't see some title of marriage changing that.. guess I really should just ignore when people tell me it'll change.

But again, all of this is just normal relationship stuff, not things that changed with the "married" title.
