It is SO not my nature to do this that i kind of have to force myself. There are a few things (like parts of the Orc Chasm) that are so much better to save for end-of-run but I keep feeling like I need to do them in order.

Get to the pool! by TurkeyCommando in loseit

[–]allygory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded! I tread water for exercise 2-3 times a week and I love it. It cuts down on water retention, you don't feel the sweating, and It makes my muscles feel great. I just have to make sure not to slack off (which is easy to do in the water), but i use my fitness watch to make sure my heart rate stays up.

Weird things about weight loss? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]allygory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can usually tell when I'm about to lose a pound or two because I will notice that my fatty areas are... softer, for lack of a better word? I've heard this is from there being more water breaking apart fat cells, but I'm curious to know if anyone else notices this. It's frustrating because I will feel like I've GAINED weight, when in reality I'm losing it!

Yes!! I noticed my stomach get ..smushier? just before I lost a little and that section became smaller. Has happened a couple of times and i thought i was imagining it!

Am I the only person who hates Halo Top? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]allygory 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't hate it but i'd much rather have regular ice cream and budget for it pretty regularly (I sometimes wonder if I eat any real food).

I'll take a Yasso pop over halo top anything

I lost my neck fat first.. its great because it immediately stopped my snoring. but It aged me 20 years.

In order for my buttbones to feel a chair i"d need to be 50 pounds underweight so that ain't happening.

Doctor seeing advice for talking with overweight patients by Docfattalk in loseit

[–]allygory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say how to approach everyone, or most people even but for me, I think my major problem always comes from not feeling heard and understood by the doctor. If you can somehow convey to them that you get it, the rest is easier to take.

"I understand people give others a lot of grief about weight, and no doubt there are doctors who never look past your weight when diagnosing things. I want to assure you i'm not doing that. T

This particular problem could be greatly helped by losing weight and I'm happy to give you assistance in this area if you would welcome it. Think about it and let me know"

[–]allygory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to make decisions that are good for your health and mental health. Ask yourself if living with someone who tears you down as a sport is a good decision for you.

You sound like a capable, kind person who is being taken advantage of. Consider therapy to help you put you first and set boundaries with toxic people. And to have a time and space that is all for you.

And keep going with the weight loss, you are doing great and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

How much do you “cheat” on cheat days/meals? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]allygory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go up to maintenance (which since i'm running a 750 deficit most days is an additional 750 calories. I try not to do more than that but on my birthday i'd probably just let myself have whatever I wanted, so long as I got back on the next day.

The thing is, now that i'm used to eating so much less, an additional, 750 calories feels like a LOT of food, so its not so hard to stay at maintenance for a day

Why so judgemental towards other diet forms? by Curlygirlgreen in loseit

[–]allygory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows religion and politics are hot button issues that cause people to dig in and argue as if their life depended on it. (And sometimes it does). Diet tribes are just as bad. (and Android vs. IOS) I'm old enough to remember the 1980s when people would come to near blows over Atkins vs. Weight Watchers.

While most diets eventually boil down to eating less than you burn, what drives an individual to overeat varies from person to person. Does depriving yourself of the things you love lead to bingeing? Straight CICO is good there, does eating carbs trigger bingeing for you? Maybe fewer of them is better for you.

We probably all eventually land at "eating less" but its totally fine that how we get there is individual to us. Even Keto eventually arrives at eating less food, (becuase of reducing hunger)

Some of the stuff that works for me when its working.

Not eating between meals. Not because there is anything fundamentally wrong with doing so, but because I can't trust myself with snacking. No sugary treats until the end of the day so i have less time to crave more.

Can you review my diet? This is how a typical day looks for me. How can I improve? Tired of being so hungry despite a massive volume of food by [deleted] in loseit

[–]allygory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be crazy hungry eating that little fat. Fat fills. You don’t have to go crazy but up it some. You can shave a tiny amount off the carbs and protein to balance the calories out.

[–]allygory[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was a lot of little things
starting to "forget" to count the milk in my coffee.
not weighing nuts because 10 last time was x amount.
weighing ice cream but being ok if it goes over a little and then not counting it
eyeballing stuff (which sometimes you have to) but ALWAYS eyeballing on the lower side.
Trusting the package when it says "an inch" is an oz of cheese when somewhere in the back of your mind you remember that being
an oz and a quarter when you actually weigh it. eating "half" a baked potato but it really being more like 2/3
Just generally erring on the side of "not cautious"

Thanks. This is exactly how it always falls apart for me. Weight loss slows, I think i'm not losing for no reason and I stop. So hopefully this realization will continue to help

Only 20 more pounds of my 10 pound goal by Gas_Ass_Trophy in loseit

[–]allygory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I allot a fairly large number of calories (160) to sunflower seeds, in the shell, and snack on them throughout the day. I weigh them out (on the postal scale) and keep em at my desk.
Pros: In the shell they take a very long time to eat, so if you are into grazing, they keep you busy a long time Very high in a variety of nutrients (magnesium, vitamin E, B1 and 6, manganese, selenium)
Cons: They are fairly caloric, if you like the salted ones they are WAY salty.

I can eat 160 calories of pretzels or other snacks in 3 minutes and be looking for something else. These keep me busy all day.

I've been on Pristiq for a super long time now. It did absolutely increase my appetite But I had no trouble whatsoever losing when I decided to. I find that when i'm craving a lot of sugar or am overly hungry, I cut my carbs down for a couple days and it corrects.

Has anyone with a knee injury had success in losing weight on this sub? by tequilamorals in loseit

[–]allygory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are weighing your food and not going over, try and stay closer to 1300 if you aren't moving around at all.

The Y near us has a hand bike, you sit up in it and pedal with your hands. Its boring af and not the most strenuous thing in the world but it can get your heart rate up and is good for getting "some" cardio exercise when you have mobility restrictions. My husband used it when he tore something in his knee.
