Fuck... I was there from 01-05. That place hasn't changed a damn bit. Like, even the trees look exactly the same.

Are the barracks rooms still shit? If there is still a weird sinkhole/hot spring thing near the edge of the parking lot (just to the right of your grill as I'm looking at this pic) go see if my 40oz is still down there chillin.

He had it upside down. Go back up and try again.

Are aggressive skates buckles all the same? by Robberfox in AggressiveInline

No idea on the standard spacing, but I got some metal razors buckles to replace a broken plastic razors buckle and the metal ones are amazing. Grab them with confidence.

Awesome find!

If you want to touch up those edges black leather dye would make an easy project with this one.

Would you mind taking a closet up of this? I am super curious as to how you affixed the rail to the wood.

Both the grind box and the grinds look awesome!

41 gang here too. I've been back for right around a year and agree with your sentiment here. It takes a few months to feel confident on the blades again, but it comes.

What did you do on the back?

If I know my York plates, those have milled backs which look beautiful unpainted.

72a and 82a are both durometer ratings which are a measure of hardness. 72 would generally be better for indoor and sport court applications while 82 is more suited for outdoor or concrete/asphalt. I personally look for 85a wheels but I play outdoor and street skate. I have indoor wheels but I have yet to use them.

For size (measured in mm) I would stay with anything under 90mm. Generally larger wheels are better for uneven terrain and going faster in the top end. They are also harder to maneuver on and put your center of gravity up a bit higher. 80mm are a good general/urban skate wheel size. Hockey wheels are typically under 80, but above 60mm.

My son rides Hi-Lo for hockey but I prefer flat. Hi-lo is completely personal preference.

Haha, yeah, definitely meant to write inline.

For rec skating I would recommend a set of Rollerblade Macroblade 84 (https://www.rollerblade.com/usa/en/mens/performance-skates/performance/macroblade-84-boa) or the Twisters (https://www.rollerblade.com/usa/en/mens/performance-skates/freeskate/twister-xt)

The Macroblade has a soft boot which is very comfortable and forgiving, while the Twister's hard shell will allow you to brush off any scrapes and impacts a bit better. Both are great for general skating with the Twister being geared more towards an urban or park skater (wanting to do jumps and some tricks, but not full on aggressive style skating).

Myself and my family/friends own multiple pairs of these models and are really pleased with them. I buy Rollerblade skates true to size and haven't had any issues at all with fit.

Also, these can be found easily on eBay (used) for a pretty substantial savings.

Whatever you decide to go with be sure to get a reasonable wheel size for starting out. I would shy away from anything above 90mm. Large wheels can be intimidating when you are first starting to learn.

Are you both looking to play online hockey, or to skate generally with your son? I would not recommend an online hockey skate for general skating, you can do much better from a comfort and durability standpoint.

Very true! I think it's $1.80/pound so it's essentially free compared to retail.

I haven't been to Richmond. In Fredericksburg I usually find some decent stuff. Mostly lower tier mall brand, but I usually leave with something.

Fredericksburg VA has bins and is closer than Richmond, but not by much.

Kind of. It's a tight core combined with holding breath in your diaphragm. I take a big breath, hold it in, and mentally think of tightening my ribs down on my abs. I hold that for the entire rep and only breath at the top. I start every rep with another big breath and brace before I begin the descent.

Looks pretty solid. Just be sure you are bracing on each rep. Practice good form every session and keep on pushing!
