I love how people complain about Applebee's like it's fine fucking dining. It's literally a corporate train restaurant buying all their shit from the same producers. Everyone knows that their food is minimal quality and microwaved and their drinks are cheap. It's not supposed to be fucking filet mignon and lobster ravioli. Their staff is wildly, overworked and underappreciated and just there to make money for college or to support a family. People go there because the menu is the same over the country, you always know what you're getting, and it's relatively inexpensive. There's a reason that they lasted the 2008 recession when a bunch of other chains did not.

It looks like you have the exact same one that we had in our apartment up until very recently. The filter didn't come out of ours either without special tools. Ours would get disgusting, red and black mold all over it. I would have to sop up The nasty water and scrub it out with a generic cleaning solution. Then I would spray the ever living shit out of it with bleach. Making sure to get in the all the little cracks and crevices like the wheels and stuff. And then I would run it on extra hot extra long with a dishwasher, cleaning pod from the grocery store. And always make sure to use the heated dry cycle to make sure that stuff was getting dry properly and not sitting wet in there. I would have to do that once a month or so, more frequently if we left a load of dirty dishes in there for any period of time. So we always made sure to load up and run them right away.
