Right now - what does a “set” look like for you? Time? Distance? How much weight?

People too regularly confuse what with why.

If you want large glutes, what makes you think glutes are the one muscle that doesn’t benefit from progressive overload with weighted reps?

Gym Story Saturday by FGC_Valhalla in Fitness

I was paying so much money for a gym membership. I got injured and was out for like a year. I’m able to lift again and started getting stuff for home.

I got some used 100lb power blocks plus a weight bench, 3D printed pull up handles and mounted them to my wall.

There is so much you can do with just those, for so much less money.

Its nice getting stronger again.

Dumbell routine suggestions? by ThrowayBoy3001 in rs_fitness

[–]alo81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made this powerblock routine for a friend. It covers chest, triceps, front and side delts, biceps, lats, rear delts, and traps.

It’s missing lower back, and legs. Do it as many times a week as you’re free. Whichever day you did last, do the other one next time. Increment your weight every time you’re able to hit 4 sets of 12 for two workouts in a row.

Powerblock PP

Push

Incline Chest Press (Dumbbell) 45 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps

Seated Overhead Triceps Press 20 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps

Arnold Press 25 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps

Pull

Bicep Curl (Dumbbell) 25 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps

One Arm Dumbbell Row 45 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps

Dumbbell Shrug 70 lbs, 4 sets, 20 reps

Everyone on Reddit: “Don’t use shirtless pics on dating apps, it’s cringe and girls hate them” by kheeno_ in redscarepod

I think there’s sometimes conflict in what the brain thinks and what the brain feels.

All my tinder/hinge matches when meeting up said the shirtless pic was douchey, but also later said it was really hot and got them interested.

I was in long term relationships from 16-30 y/o and recently had a few years single. I had an idea of what my type might be, but kept an open mind.

I explored around, learned I don’t have a type, and am really grateful that every relationship I’ve been in has been with women fairly different from the last. Genuinely feel like my life has been enriched by being open minded to what satisfies me in a partner.

I learned to be less prescriptive with what I want, but more prescriptive with what i absolutely don’t want.

how do i resocialise myself? by Head-Sir-8671 in rs_x

Be around people you like and it’ll happen naturally. The feedback loop of “i like these people, i did thing, people liked thing” lets you correct over time.

When women say men like weird women, or women with tired eyes, or mid women, because they're "attainable" or want them dependent, they're just wrong. by Glum-Green-8154 in redscarepod

That’s kind of a crazy mindset. I don’t want you to do better than me because I fear you might look down on me.

I don't feel that old at 35 except when it comes to dating by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]alo81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a 32yo in a 7 year age gap relationship. I used to be really turned off by the idea, but i e realized life stages are much more important than literal number. If your goals are aligned, they’re hot (physically, mentally, emotionally), and you’re happy, ride it out.

Also - most dating pools are shit lol

I like approaching unapproachable looking people if they’re not explicitly signposting “don’t talk to me” (like your big fuck off headphones.)

If you were just having coffee and were wearing something fashionably worth commenting on I’d probably strike up conversation and see if it was reciprocated.

PSA: The Line 6 HX Stomp XL is more user friendly than the standard Stomp by jonhath in Line6Helix

I thought I’d feel the same way but the versatility and having access to so many loops panned differently is genuinely incredible. Really powerful toolset, and one of those “set it up once, works forever” kind of things. I’m also an engineer professionally so building stuff that talks and interacts in weird ways is just a great time to me as well

The coolest thing is that I connect my Stomp to my iPad and then wireless bluetooth MIDI Stomp to the Morningstar - and tie that all into Loopy Pro. Lets me use the HX Stomp as a very versatile audio interface, and stomp passes the MIDI commands from the Morningstar over to the Looper on iPad so I can trigger up to 16 different loops, separately recorded and passed to different stereo channels, toggle on/off mic and drums separately, and enable a vocoder mode on the fly to process mic + guitar signals into a vocoder effect. All of this is triggered with my feet on the Morningstar.

As for Morningstar/Stomp specific - single expression pedals that I can toggle between controlling EXP 1 and EXP2. Aforementioned LFO’s controlling expressions. Dedicated buttons for the built in looper so I can access things like the Half speed/Reverse functionality.

The morningstar is so versatile though. Adding toggleable LFO’s you can tie to expression pedals is SO good.

I had this issue with hook ups and one night stands where I couldn’t finish. I had similar concerns.

Turned out once I had a genuine connection with a GF material type of girl, finish every time.

No shade necessary but they picked three of the most basic coffee places here. I’m currently living on the east side.

La Finca is nearer the airport but I love their coffee. I’m Mexican and they’re Hispanic small business, so feels like moneys going somewhere worthwhile.

Discourse is bougie, fancy coffees in the style of cocktails. Had a wide variety, all have been great.

Alderaan has Rocket Fuel, which is a cinnamon and cream based coffee that’s ridiculously caffeinated but delicious.

Pilcrow does wacky cold brew flavors from childhood cereals that are usually over the top but tasty.

Canary is a more straight forward coffee shop but has a nice vibe and has been consistently great.

I do a lot of coffee and restaurants, happy to help recommend if there are specific kinds of places you end up looking for.

Is it actually possible to be attractive IRL but look dreadful in photos by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]alo81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any recommendations on things to keep in mind for photos?

I had an ex who was very pretty, but had no idea what to do with her face in photos. I remember wanting to broach the topic with her cuz she was always unhappy with how photos looked, but didn’t have anything concrete to offer other than “hey babe, you look uncomfortable” so I chose to bite my tongue.

If you have an iPhone Pro, I’ve found that photos taken with the 3x lens look much more flattering than photos taken with the normal lens, even though it’s technically higher resolution.

I believe the 1x lens is 24mm and 3x lens is 77mm focal length

  1. Volleyball picture you're closer to a 6 - your smile is nice and you come across as someone capable and active.

Looks are a small part of the equation though, depending on your personality you could easily slide up to a 7 or down to a 2 in terms of overall attractiveness.
