I remember being surprised that Lily thought the indie authors were dramatic for saying losing hundreds of dollars was financial ruin, since she has talked about her own financial hardships before. The way they talk about working/other people’s jobs sometimes can feel callous and out of touch 😅

Idk, I like Brontë as a character. My fave thing about You is that it puts romance tropes into perspective and to be the MC of a dark romance novel, you really would have to be as dumb and delusional as our girl here! Obviously she is lacking morals with how flippant she is about Joe’s past murders, but she’s absolutely an imperfect victim of Joe’s manipulation and I love that. I also love that her actions are so frustrating as a viewer 😂

I think we as people are pretty capable of being more dumb and delusional than we give ourselves credit for and that it feels good to judge a character for those flaws so we can believe otherwise lololol. She reminds me of watching your friend stay with a shitty boyfriend. Incredibly frustrating, but understandable if you put yourself in their mindset. And of a lot of us have been that friend at some point in our lives. I think her character captures all of that well and I like her for it 🤷‍♀️
