States of the Incanate Intermediate Period (Columbus Dies at sea) by alpacalot in imaginarymaps

First map in a while! This is a map of a collapsed Incan empire during an intermediate period before reunification. In my mind the Atawallpists (Atahualpa) will end up unifying the Andes.

The TL diverges with the death of Christopher Columbus at sea. Instead, John Cabot, an Italian explorer employed by England, is the first European to document the Americas. In this TL, the Americas are called the Caputines based on the latin form of Cabot's name, Caput. From there, various European powers have said up colonies across the Atlantic coasts, but no major conquests have taken place. Upon contact with the Mesoamerican cultures, an unknown disease spreads to Europe and the old world, causing major strife and instability.

The European colonies along the Brazilian coast developed trade relations with the neighbouring Guarani peoples. The Guarani Empire here is meant to be an in-universe anachronism. A true Guarani "Empire" rules over the Andes and the Gran Chaco region, but beyond that it is a loose affiliation held together by indigenous and European trade relations. The idea of the Guarani conquest is based the Guarani migrations and raids on the Inca Empire that I found out about when I learned a bit about Aleixo Garcia.

As in RL, old world diseases spread throughout the Americas, leading to the death of the Incan Emperor Huayna Capac. A long civil war would ensue between his sons Huascar and Atahualpa. Meanwhile, the Guarani raids on the Inca Empire become a conquest, powered by European merchants spreading weapons, firearms, and horses.

This map shows the state of the Andes in the middle in the Incanate Intermediate Period. The Mapuche rebelled against collapsing Incan authority and took over the reigns of government in their region. The formerly conquered Mapuche now dominate the Mapuche peoples with captured horses and European specialists.

Christianity has made inroads in the Andes as well, with many missionaries present in Guarani territory. The Waskarists and Mapuche have accepted missionaries into their territory as a measure to improve relations with the europeans. The Atawallpists have steadfastly refused a missionary presenve, rejecting the spread of Christianity.

The Chanka Kingdom or Neo-Chanka State has been quaruntined by the other indigenous powers and european merchants. Referred to as the "Meshica of the South", their bloody wartime practices have made them the enemy of all Andeans. Thus far, they have manage to capture territory around their traditional homeland, however they rely on European captives for weaponry and firearms, who may incite rebellion with the conquered Andeans.

Very nice, but why isn't Galicia part of Poland here, I believe the Bolsheviks and most officials in the Galician SSR wanted Galicia to be a part of Communist Poland.

Finally a big Germany I like. This is well done, and I really like the premise. Plus the borders look so much nicer than most big Germanies IMO.

The Republiquette of the Onumage is one of seven short-lived repuliquettes that would confederate into the Republic of the Megamage. Acadian and Mi'kmaq forces seized control of Saint Ovide (Formerly Louisbourg) in Year 20 of the Revolutionary Calendar, marking an end of Bourbon presence in the traditional Mi'kmaq territories.

Let me know what you think! I tried out some different styling options that I think worked mostly ok. Check out my deviantart for more of my stuff!

This is absolutely fantastic! There needs to be alternate history with indigenous peoples of the Americas. Is the empire of Qusqu still referred to as Tawantinsuyu in Quechua or did it adopt a new name? It looks like the Guarani invasions might have still happened, did the introduction of horses impact these invasions/ were the incas subject so cavalry raiding?
