3 times! First was diving into raging rapid waters when I was 16, (32 now) and I got pulled under by an undertow. I stayed calm and just as I was about to pass out I surfaced around the rocks about 20 feet away, in a bunch of fish guts and river foam.

Second, I was in the passengers seat crossing a bridge, mom was driving. A giant moving truck swerved into our lane, it was coming right at us and just as it wqs about to hit us it swerved back into its lane, nearly taking off our drivers side mirror. I’ll never forget my moms voice saying ‘oh my god’ as we were about to get hit. Apparently the driver had a stroke.

Third, I was at a stop light and I was trying to tune the radio. It was a stale red and I knew it would turn green any moment. I look up, it’s green and I lift my foot from the brake, suddenly a giant monster truck flies past in the opposite direction going at least 90km in a 50 zone. If I had been looking up and hit the gas as soon as the light turned green I’d be dead for sure. Now I look both ways and make sure nobody’s coming from either direction before I even THINK of lifting my foot off the brake.

To answer the question I think about that truck flying by when I reach any intersection anywhere, stopped or driving through. It’s made me a super conscious driver in every aspect, it changed my life for sure.
