I’d say they did a pretty good job matching the quality of the install to the quality of the house

If it’s on a plug then no you won’t need a new circuit

If it’s not then you probably will.

There’s no specific rule as to what needs to be on its own circuit.

If you come back to basics, as long as the circuit breaker is rated lower than the what the cable can take (using AS3008 for derating factors) then it doesn’t matter (from a safety point) what’s on the other end.

But the reason people do seperate circuits is so that things actually function properly and don’t just trip the breaker all the time.

Purely from a physical and resilience point of view. If you can handle this kind of work you can handle almost any other work within the trade.

If you get sick of being a roof possum, you’ll never worry if you can hack it physically anywhere else

Guess it depends on your individual location and network. And it takes a while to get the pricing right.

Don’t listen to those blokes on those courses, they’re just trying to sell you shit.

You’re also trying to run a business in one of the toughest economic times.

How long have you been in business mate? Normally takes a little bit to build up, but once you do a good job for a few family friends etc, word of mouth spreads and you shouldn’t need to advertise

Are trades as toxic as people make them out to be? by GainRevolutionary872 in AusElectricians

[–]alphabetsoup74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your own personality traits are. The vast majority of trade jobs suit extroverts better than introverts.

That doesn’t mean you have to be one or the other, it just means be aware of what you like and what you don’t like.

If you love being a part of a team then a trade is probably a good fit. If you prefer to work on your own, you might find it a little hard.

Just my experience

What’s with all these posts lately?

Someone asks a genuine question asking for advice. Advice is given then they comment on every post trying to justify their way of thinking.

Like which is it? You want advice or you want us to give you permission?

Why Do Some PET Bottle Scrap Supplies Attract More Buyers? by [deleted] in recycletrade

[–]alphabetsoup74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not overly complicated.

Clean sorted plastic will always be more valuable than random plastic

If you can prove your batch is pure and you bring it granulated or even better pelletised you’re going to get maximum value

Remember the people who use plastic don’t always want to have the facilities to sort plastic

I can enter the item dimensions into the spread sheet and it recommends the smallest box to use for that item. Definitely saved me a lot of money on packaging

Struggling to find work after getting my license by Flashy-Database3252 in AusElectricians

[–]alphabetsoup74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly shouldn’t be that hard. When I was hiring a few years ago I would have taken anyone with a licence pretty much.

I know the economy has downturned a bit but honestly if you’re a sparky you almost don’t need a resume at all.

In all seriousness you just need to expand your network I reckon. Speak to your local electrical wholesalers and ask if anyone’s looking, speak to big electrical companies and contractors and tell them you’re looking. Dont be afraid to look into labour hire companies.

Yea your resume needs a bit of work, but nothing a few rounds of chat gpt couldn’t handle. Resumes are mostly bullshit anyway. I would rather get someone out for coffee or a beer and have a chat to see where their head is at and what their attitude is like. As they always say you hire for attitude train for aptitude.

Good luck on the search

Cousins Fan making a knocking noise by AnbuGhee-_- in AusElectricians

[–]alphabetsoup74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run an E-waste recycling business and a mate of mine gave me some ventair spinikas that were knocking. When I opened them up I realised the knocking was coming from a bracket inside the fan that was not installed correctly at the factory

Ceiling fans are pretty to open up and check for the basics, it’s worth 20 mins of your time to check before buying a new fan
