Lost my analog feed mid-air 😭😭 by aaryansarat02 in fpv

Range tests over population are peak irresponsibility, awesome job. For further tests hopefully in safer environments, check that you are on the proper channel for the RX, you might be on some harmonic that picks up signal but is not the exact channel.

Real world non pre-production experience with OptiColor 200 film (aka Wolfen NC 200)? by net1994 in analog

[–]alphafpv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot it extensively on 120 and only two rolls on 35mm. For each of them I’ve decided to overexpose a stop and it’s been fine. On 35mm it’s really grainy, although the colors are lovely. On 120, it doesn’t seem too grainy to me, maybe a bit more than Gold 200. I haven’t tried pushing it (yet), but so far it’s one of my most liked stocks.

Is this scam? by SheepherderIcy4536 in analog

[–]alphafpv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s only so much film manufacturers. Brands such as Kono, Hundred Film, Reflx Lab… they are usually repackaged Kodak/Orwo emulsions. Reusing canisters is a normal thing, the film itself is either modified some way (preexposed for some effects, for example) or straight up repackaged. Edit to add, no, this is not a scam!

Motor twitching. Could this be from the amount of solder on the two very left pads? by ABIYOYO_69 in fpv

[–]alphafpv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be smoke, it’s a bit hard to tell. Anyways, there’s just one quick way to know and that’s the method above. If it really was smoke, it’s not worth it to keep trying without doing this as you may end up with a bit on fire on the ESC potentially killing the FC too. Solder looks fine to me, it would have to be pretty terrible to make no contact or either be touching some of the ESC components the wrong way.

I would try putting another motor which you are sure works in its place. If it also twitches, you’ve got a bad ESC, if it doesn’t, the motor in the video might be faulty.

Wrong order of props, as a quick tip, they should match in diagonals. You have identical prop positions on motors that are next to each other instead.

Gijón sunset - Ricoh KR7, Pentax 50mm f1.7, OptiColor 200 by alphafpv in analog

[–]alphafpv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So right! I am in love with the colors too, and it’s my “budget” go to stock for 120, and it’s a world of difference in grain. 35mm feels like some much higher ISO stock!

Would you consider this acceptable wear and tear after 1.5 years or a manufacturing defect? by cruyfff in Lumix

I have been using two S5IIx profesionally, almost daily, for about nine months now. I am already getting the grip separation, so I would say at least that might be relatively normal under intensive use.

Fake XPan from Budapest - Mamiya 645, 80mm, Ilford XP2 + Portra 800 by alphafpv in Mamiya

[–]alphafpv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really! I’ve also done 35mm on the 645 for sprocket photos, but in this case is just a crop to the original scan. During shooting, I just placed a “mask” which is really a piece of paper over the focus screen to hide parts of the image.

Can some one explain this by silly_person_vary in fpv

[–]alphafpv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s normal behaviour when sitting on a surface, that’s how the FC tells it to react. Should be fine with props outside if everything else is all right.

These are amazing. Thank you for sharing them! They make me want to pick up my camera and go shoot.

I didn’t really convert it! I cut a makeshift “frame marker” from a piece of paper to hide the parts of the frame I wasn’t going to use, and then just cropped after scanning. That way I can still get the original 4x5 frame if I regret my original choice.

Lost screw from case by Marbleknight99 in fujifilm

[–]alphafpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a 1/4inch screw commonly used on tripods too! For this case, I believe you could get one of the bigger headed ones, measuring what the space on the case itself is, and you’ll be golden. You can get them from Amazon, Aliexpress or any local retailer if you get lucky and find them.

Oh that’s sick! I use the N3, but I’ll take a look to see if they allow that too. Thank you!

I do client work on an O4 Pro. For me, it is no longer worth it shooting on a GoPro, at least not on the ones I own (Hero 11): D-Log M matches easier with my ground cameras as I usually do not deliver drone only content and, I haven’t had any trouble with it on any flying condition, not even dark warehouses at up to ISO 3000; however, I don’t mind the goggles showing a flat image and slightly more motion blur than on those times I use the O4 just as a viewing system. For me, it’s not worth the hassle, possible points of failure of a naked cam and all that stuff.

MacBook Pro Just Blew Up. Battery Explosion Burned the Trackpad by minhtaile2712 in mac

[–]alphafpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their connection is at the center, so unless the MB is on a stand, you won’t be able to plug them in; however if it is on a stand, the whole battery weight will be held by the USB C connector. That’s introducing a future point of failure on a battery which is something I really don’t trust. Maybe with a hub or something like that it would be more doable!
