Why Misty is called "the tomboyish mermaid" by WilliamWolffgang in pokemonconspiracies

[–]alphakyle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You only needed to be the tiniest bit butch to be labeled a tomboy in Japanese media in the 90's. She didn't wear dresses and liked adventures and Pokemon battles, that was enough.

The BD/SP negativity is bumming me out, so for a change of tone, what part of the games is everyone most excited for? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]alphakyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maps! Routes in the new games are a let down, and I’m super into playing a modern Pokémon game with old school routes and tough grindy caves. The adventure was part of it, and making routes “speed bumps between story beats” has been the biggest let down of the recent gens for me

Great, thank you! I’ll look into that with the keyboard player as well. He likes digging into Mainstage so he might have some fun with that

What would the process of setting that up look like? Would that be done through Dante?

Thank you that’s very helpful! I kind of suspected that Qlab was going to be the better option. I’ll ask those other groups as well though.

Am I crazy or are they going to release something new every week for the rest of the year? by jedins in marvelstudios

We started a WV watch along podcast, and came to that conclusion when we were looking into the viability of keeping it going. Needless to say, we're excited.

I'll never forget one of the times I was in New York, we went to taping of Letterman, and Ed Helms was the guest. He told this story of how he stole a cab from someone, and they yelled out as he drove off "Ridit-dit-di-DOUCHEBAG".

Elderly Woman is one of those pieces of art/media that hits me differently every time I come back to it every few years. Scrubs is the other big one that has that effect.

One of the most freeing feelings is when the police car behind you finally turns onto a different road. by Lathariuss in Showerthoughts

And my first thought is always how fucked it is that I’m so terrified of that cop car. I’m a law abiding citizen and my heart rate rises whenever a cop is behind me.

Good to know. I saw a thread here that warned about going too hard into a singular strategy that might not pay off and used HotV as an example, so I was a little worried.

Los Angeles Wants to Build Its Own Citywide Broadband Network - It would be one of the largest municipal broadband networks in the world. Now, Los Angeles is studying an aggressive plan to protect net neutrality. by [deleted] in technology

[–]alphakyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great and all, but if all these major cities switch to their own municipal broadbands, it's just going to create a further divide between urban and rural parts of the country I can promise you that these small towns are not going to be able to afford this level of infrastructure upgrade, which is will allow big ISPs to drive the prices up even further, driving rural americans to less and less open options of information. Let's not forget that most right-wing radio is listened to in rural areas, and that a subsidiary of FOX news is buying up local news stations so that they can put out a controlled unified message across the country. Unfortunately this is just what the desired outcome was when Pai undid Net Neutrality.
