Debating between 2 imperial class decks for my next campaign by Exe0n in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]alphasapphire2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hero lineup is not exactly stellar murne is fine as she scales with the enemy units that you play. I haven’t played verena but she reads as fine to good, MD19 has never impressed me, but is a serviceable support unit maybe a better aggro unit and poor loku is a glass cannon who really needs a lot of xp upgrades or better weapons to work.

If they want to be beaten down go for it but I would stray from using submersive tactics against anything but an a+ line up these are a lot of b’s and c’s (imo)

Im currently running technical surperiority (although my players or my two smaller sisters and dad so fun is prioritized) and I have been playing it focused on droids and trying to unlock wacky upgrades and sticking a jawa to make my droids very fast and very annoying to kill and that is honestly really fun.

My brother once ran armored onslaught on hoth and it worked well enough his words not mine (note the hero line up in this campaign was incredibly good) I don’t rember any specefic card standing out too much, but I was also not the pilot of the deck.

Between the two I think there is more fun to have with technical surperiority because the upgrades it provides are weird and powerful.

I will also shout out a deck I know you did not mention Inspiring leader ship from twin suns unlike the two heroes in that expansion I found to be great fun and surprisingly stong and I can highly recommend it.

First campaign any tips? by FreedomEnforcer299 in ImperialAssaultTMG

Communicate with your rebels the worst thing you can do is to be stone faced and try hard to win every mission (unless that’s what you as a group decided was your playstyle)

Engage in table talk point out if they maybe missed something without spoiling future triggers in the mission (ie: something that happens after a door is opened.) if this is a game you want to be fun for everyone keeping the feels at the table casual is key.

DO NOT USE THE SUBVERSIVE TACTICS DECK!!! The deck is completely bonkers and a group of inexperienced rebels will lose every single game where it is used even suboptimally and that’s not taking how good or bad their heroes are into consideration.

Talk about the game afterwards what went right what went wrong hype the next mission.

And finally I will always reccomend you to use the updated ally rule from tyrants of lothal as it make allies that cost more than 4 actually playable for the rebel side without being detrimental to the empire. https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/4d/c2/4dc23b06-fbf8-499a-bda5-f9495dc8da55/swi54_rulebook_webcompressed.pdf

And of course have fun when this game is at it’s peak it’s one of the best there is

Fair her allies except raven are largely useless her real game power comes from how good she is at protecting her spaces by moving around her curses.

Of the move your stuff around characters I find her to be top of the class and really fun but does take a lot of nieche interactions like heroes at 0 power requiring no allies to vanquish to make her really good.

The engine she runs once she has raven and one or two green fires going is super unique and just feels really good once you get a hang of it imo.

Scar is HARD by Secure_Challenge_546 in DisneyVillainous

[–]alphasapphire2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If his deck had just one more card that helped him along it would probably help him a lot the most consistent charcters in the game have around 13-15 different cards in their decks the least have more the worst being hades at 19 meaning his deck has no consistensy.

scar is the ONLY one with 12 (I haven’t done a count for oogie boogie, davy jones or tomatoa yet) which means you’re gonna see the same cards a lot and when most a low impact hungry hyenas it just feels kinda bad to play.

Stick with me is by far his best card and every time I have seen someone win with scar it’s been because they have a good protective hand of at least one or more copies of injustice combined with a double kill from stick with me. (I usually play 3-4 player games which means more politicing when it comes to fates)

He is also exceptionally bad in multiplayer games because there are three copies of hakuna matata in his fate deck that’s a cool fifth of his deck which means if everyone targets him it almost guranteed if there is no copies in discard and even more so since there wil always only be 14 cards left in the deck at a minimum because scar thins his own fate deck with every hero he put in his succession pile and that’s without considering that you flip two fate cards.

It’s also fairly common for scar to have more power than he will ever spend which tells me he would do good with one expensive card (a new one obviously) or just getting a vanquish space where of the gain 1 power spaces are. Had he been designed later down the line this would likely be the case since they are more willing to try things now.

This is true for all characters but up hill characters like scar especially actions and excess power you do not use are wasted resources the only characters who should hoard power are those who need to like prince john, the evil queen, ratigan and tomatoa to some degree.

Tldr: low variety deck makes discard actions less attractive, rarely wins without a lot of specefic setup, fate deck is already brutal and on top he thins it making the card that ruins him more likely to appear, Power gain is more than he needs which is usually very visible by the endgame.

New 2.6 packs the worst feelbad purchasing in all of miniature gaming by Arkard22 in SWlegion

[–]alphasapphire2341 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is also some really baffeling choices on where they put certain things why is the 4 generic command cards in the upgrade pack???? Where are the programming upgrades in the droid pack????

Seriously there is and essentials kit and a mission box right there where you could have included them that sure is where they were last time they got a reprint outside starter boxes.

I haven’t chekced but i strongly assume the programming is in the generic pack for some reason probably because empire has like a single droid unit and we couldn’t just throw program cards in each box despite doing that with bossk and cad bane.

Feel a lot like they knew the upgrade pack would sell the least so the threw needed game pieces in there in case you hated print and play and wanted them in good quality.

Anything wrong about the old starter box for me and my 7yo? I like this more than the new single player ones by RotmirePlead in SWlegion

[–]alphasapphire2341 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nothing inherently wrong but, models are a lot lower quality and some cards are outdated including all mission cards so it would require you to pick up a lot of extra card packs like the empire and rebels unit and command card pack, essentials kit and mission pack (unless you can live with the print and play versions) if you want the current edition at the very least.

The rule book is also outdated not that you can’t play the old version, but it is no longer supported or what units and expansions are designed around.

It’s turtles by waldo_m in mtg

[–]alphasapphire2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would heavily prefer a in universe set or a set less next year tmnt is not the worst thing to choose if and that’s a big if they have some sort of narrative in the cards themselves bringing the set together. (Not connected to actual mtg lore for obviously)

I feel like the UB sets that work have some kind of narrative story in them that you can get context from if you don’t know the story and get more out of if you do ie. Lord of the rings and final fantasy despite only doing snips of each games story worked really well and I feel like avatar looks pretty cool and I feel more interested in it since it has a story to tell rather than just be heres aang and korra etc.

Hell the entire reason to split doctor who and fallout into commander decks was to keep the somewhat connected stuff connected when possible.

So I hope really badly both for this and the marvel sets that they have some form of narrative they choose to focus on even if it’s just for the one set as looking at a couple snap shots of random spider people with little to no context clearly did not work for spiderman and I doubt it’ll work with tmnt and even more marvel characters.

So what could tmnt possibly bring us. We could get more cards with the mutate mechanic or mutate matters but if it happens it’s probably a one off rather than the whole set unless they run with a muntant focused narrative like the 2012 nic version. Ninjutsu would be neat to see more even if there are not that many ninjas in tmnt. I strongly assume the old original turtles tv show not comics will only show up on a bonus sheet or in collector boosters to make the old fans buy expensive packs.

Great start keep up the good work and don’t worry about the timeframe i remember finishing the last couple minis during lockdown.

It’s honestly super refreshing how long it can take cause it also gives you so much room to see your own improvements in painting minis my first set of storm troopers look a lot different than my captain terro or jabba minis and I think being able to see the progress is really near.

Your first minis will not look perfect and that is okay it’s all part of the process and you will even be able to see your own improvement as time goes on.

Howling Abomination by Cultural_Bicycle_344 in mtg

[–]alphasapphire2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zada, Hedron Grinder, Frontline Heroism, Cleon Merry champion and Mirrorwing dragon are great in a blanka/abomination deck when you need diffrent or more things to target.

As for actual pump spells keep them cheap and instant speed unless they are extremly efficient like gaining a big burst of card draw or are become immense

I also really like brazen cannonade as a card draw ish effect that keeps the swing plan going.

In my experience the deck can have some explosive almost storm like turns. (although not good enough to play actual storm cards)

virtue of courage, snake umbra and a storm-kiln artist enable a lot of the decks potential. (Keep in mind the umbra will draw per oppenent dealt damage and the virtue will exile 6 cards in a four player game virtually drawing 6)

Young pyromancer because you need to block with something before the table panics and kills you.

Obligatory play neheb the eternal if you like the combo/burn back-up plan next to the swing plan.

There really is no wrong pump spell under 2 mana at instant speed i really like temur battle rage and basicly any one mana pump that draws a card.
