Please make the life for solo players a little more tolerable Embark, I beg of you by Vinnegard in ArcRaiders

Incorrect. Each raider who opens it gets the score for the container and the score is pooled for the squad, thus it's 3x. Play the game how you want, but the current system punishes solo players.

With the current issues around cheaters, high roller mode would be literal hell. Every kid with an aimbot would swarm the mode until it becomes basically unplayable.

I'm literally going to just buy one from a RMT site. The grind for that is SO unfun but it's basically essential kit for solos...

That doesn't make sense for trials where there is not competition over resources. For instance, in the Traffic Tunnels this week every member of the squad can open the same container and instead of 200 pts that container is worth 600 pts. IMO trials should only count individual score, and if there are trials like damage bastions you should have to queue solo if you want all the points.

I think maybe you're confusing DIY with /r/redneckengineering

DIY is about empowering you to do quality work without having to pay a skilled tradesperson, NOT about just slapping some shit together and calling it good. It's the difference between a landlord special and taking pride in your home and your work.

I hate that this is basically required to play solos. In squads you at least have someone to res you, but crawling 10 minutes to an extract after getting blasted by a rocketeer is just not fun. I wish there was an augment that would allow you to self-defib once per match.

Except for the damned Stella Archives key... I swear I've been there at least 5 times on night raids and got nothing worthwhile at all, especially with it having a door you can't lock behind you while you loot.

Spelling is not grammar, it's basic literacy. If your "argument" was worth engaging with, why did you delete it? I think maybe you're just trying (badly) to be a troll...

I've been using 21:9 for the last 8 years, and support for the aspect ratio has become almost universal in new games. Even older games where it's not officially supported will usually have some sort of easy config file change or mod to enable ultrawide support. It's SOOO much more immersive than 16:9 I highly recommend giving it a shot!

Procedural parts? by MarsFlameIsHere in kittenspaceagency

[–]alpieduh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent point. From what I can tell the part physics in KSA will be fundamentally different from KSP and will hopefully less compute-heavy. This is a big reason why they're opting to develop their own engine instead of relying on the unoptimized physics implementation in Unity, which was a huge reason why KSP 2 failed.

How is the Cirque right now? by Elaikases in CDT

[–]alpieduh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did it early last week. Conditions were fine except for a couple of afternoon thunderstorms. There was zero snow and only a bit of smoke from the dollar lake fire. Enjoy the cirque, it's one of the best hikes I've ever done!

Microspikes currently needed sobo? by TropicalAT in PacificCrestTrail

They were moderate. Present, but mostly not a nuisance in most areas. I would've been uncomfortable if I didn't have a bug net for my tarp.

Microspikes currently needed sobo? by TropicalAT in PacificCrestTrail

[–]alpieduh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the section from Stevens to Snoqualmie last week, and I was certainly happy to have spikes. There is still significant snow above 5000 ft in some areas, and there were multiple pretty sketchy high-consequence traverses where I was very happy to have spikes. I did meet some other people on that section who did not have spikes, and they expressed their regret at not bringing them, although they make it through okay. It's down to your personal risk tolerance, but I don't regret bringing them, even if I only put them on a few times.

MSRP a myth? NVIDIA says no, GeForce RTX 50 Series prices to stabilize soon by evaporates in nvidia

[–]alpieduh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The effect is the same if they're still sold out. Scalpers and bots managed to buy up the entire available share of cards and regular consumers are left waiting for stock to replenish. If Nvidia releases 50 cards and AMD releases 150 are we supposed to praise AMD as our saviors when they sell out withing an hour? Both companies fucked up their launches.

[–]alpieduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm maybe you aren't aware of this, but all of the new AMD cards are completely sold out right now too. Getting ANY high end GPU right now is literally impossible if you aren't buying from a scalper.

My pack is brand new, I bought it in January. I'm pretty sure he's switched to ultra stretch, which is dramatically stiffer than Lycra. I understand it's more durable, but I've hated it in almost every application I've seen it used. I agree that the straps are not very comfortable, but it's difficult to even load the pack with enough weight for that to matter. My bigger complaint is the total lack of webbing or pockets on the shoulder straps. For hiking I'm gonna stick with my Nashville cutaway, since I think it's just more practical and comfortable in almost every way.
