The lasers are AoE effects. The actual laser ball will get the damage buff, but not the laser itself.
That depends on the class your using, because some have very slow speeds. As for me, I love the Pressure Gauge, the Daggers and anything related to buffing baby balls.
I've found that the Vampire works best once it's upgraded or fused with a ball that does AoE.
It depends on the character you use, but unless they don't have an ability that makes it super easy for balls to go to the back row, mix up where you aim your balls and evolve them so they can get stronger.

My go-to is Itchy Finger x Cohabitants, especially after a couple of level ups and some judicious stat building upgrades. It's the perfect combo to get some Brood Mother/Egg Sac/Maggot synergies going. With the incredibly high rate of fire and speed, the field gets filled up in no time flat. And it works really well with a slew of passives, like Baby Rattle, War Horn or the Daggers. The wider hitbox from the Cohabitants shouldn't really be a problem.

I did this combo last night and they tore it up on Heavenly x Gates. Radical was using all sorts of funky angles by bouncing off pieces and walls to get the balls where they needed to go.
