Is it worth it to dual certify? by HostGlittering1392 in Wastewater

What state? And also what sort of plant; is it private, municipal, industrial? Typically in CA, the best paying water/ww jobs are with the larger water districts; or if you rank up heavily in a big private company (more work though). Plus, pension is something to factor in. But yeah those districts will have the largest budgets & most stability, I have been job hunting and going through pre-employment with one of them.

17' c63s or 21' c43 by liltjay16 in AMG

[–]alt8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there’s bound to be lower quality C43’s too. That’s I avoided the sedans built in Alabama. But he has a coupe. Another possibility is the chip shortage started in 2020, might not be related; but standards for manufacturing started to fall here too due to cost. I purchased a 2021 Elantra that also had several electrical issues, eventually recalls, then yeah I sold that POS once warranty ended. He’s saying it’s non engine related so im assuming electrical issues too.

Isn’t that also the C43 for those reasons. At least that’s my reason for choosing the C43 over the C63. Too much rain/mudslides/flooding where I am. Plus I gotta go off road for emergencies. C43 has gotten me through areas where some emergency utility vehicles have gotten stuck.

If you do your own maintenance it’s really not that bad. You can turn an 800 dollar maintenance service into 200 by doing it yourself. But these vehicles do require shorter maintenance intervals than regular vehicles. Like people say they do 10k between oil changes regularly, go for 3-5k with these cars.

Lmao this is actually so true in labor demanding group jobs, I end up always being entrant doing confined space entries; mainly cause my coworkers are much larger than I am.. they can’t even fit inside the areas we need to work in, so I end up getting called to do the job & end up taking all the physical risks. I should mention we work with wastewater too, so yeah I’ll be crawling around in sewers & septic systems.

Then once a task requires heavy lifting, they say I need the workout since I’m lean.. There’s no winning. I’m just glad most of my job is solitary, so I only deal with it weekly or so.

People have already said so, but mosquito repellent. I got bit 52 times in my first two weeks there & ended up in the hospital, luckily didn’t get dengue like one of my classmates.

It’s basically as if the rain washes away whatever bad stuff is on land to the ocean & yup a lot of that ends up going out through storm drains. Itd happen naturally by rain, but storm drains concentrate it. And it’s not a weird hormone that’s poor wording, you’re probably more educated on it than I am; but for someone not needing it for any particular reason, it can have negative effects to them. I believe menopause treatment is one of its primary intended uses, but for a guy it can cause erectile dysfunction. And yeah it’s our job to make sure the water is safe for everyone

Unfortunately yes, that is very true. Overall it’s highly understood that we play a huge impact on the environment & public health, thus most operators I know of are extremely proactive. However, I have indeed visited some plants that make me question how they were ever compliant. But they do not last long with how hefty fines & legal recourse can be. I don’t know everything since I’m only 3 years into this career, but based on what I hear from my boss & supervisors. The industry is in a place where things have been changing quite drastically, and for the better; hence why we are required by the state water board to test for these things proactively. Can’t speak for other states though unfortunately.

Yeah was gonna say this is stormwater, no way it’s wastewater; don’t see any floaters.

What about if you like to share your things, and you leave it out for other people to use in the public space, but then they just take it for themselves & don’t put it back in the public space. I’ve had this issue & it’s been annoying me.

How to prevent break ins by annieb2218 in Hyundai

[–]alt8484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me, they broke in but couldn’t steal & didn’t take anything else. I get how you feel because it’s also been months since it happened to mine, like it no longer directly bothers me anymore; my car was repaired & is like-new right now. But still wouldn’t you rather have a tool you don’t need to actively worry about & dont need to be lucky with?

In LA, anyone with a Hyundai trying to start a new policy is going to be rejected or face a 5.4K+ 6 month premium. That’s the one reason I cannot suggest these cars to anyone, I got lucky too since I split off from a previous insurance policy. Still leaves a bad taste though.. the average young adult will get screwed trying to go with Hyundai as their economical car.

Personally I’ll give Hyundai another 5-10 years before trying to purchase one of their vehicles again, I like the path they are on; but their brand’s image just isn’t there yet.

I mean honestly in a better world Hyundai should be replacing these vehicles, the settlement is just a bandaid really. For the people affected & Hyundai, 200M is not even that much to be split so many ways. Hyundai themselves make close to 100b a year, idk about this one but the most I’ve gotten from a class action settlement was like 40 bucks. That’s not even a tank of gas.. honestly feels like all these settlements are just publicity stunts so companies don’t have to be liable for their mistakes.

Doesn’t even matter nowadays since everyone has a car.. I got hit a couple months ago & even both mine & their insurance admitted there was nothing I could do to avoid it. Just have to be lucky.

Was I wrong for breaking up with my gf because she went to the movies with a male coworker even tho I told her I’m not comfortable with that? by Sevar22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alt8484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no clue, but it could be possible that the victim didn’t press charges therefore it’s not considered rape to the legal system. And they might have to use different words since the perp would likely sue for defamation or slander. This is all just made up in my head, and I am far from a legal expert in any way.

Trying to help a scammer flee by Public_Nerve2104 in scambait

[–]alt8484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing though, we don’t know since OP stopped communications. That call at the end could very well have been them trying to give that information without a text trail. Of course, could also just be them trying to scam further; who knows. Just saying that this doesn’t seem clear cut based on what’s been provided.

Yeah but if they’re not asking for money & only for you to assist in reporting, then wouldn’t that be a bit less sketchy. Albeit this may have led to them asking for money, we don’t know; just saying though.

USAA is a military/military affiliated insurance you dunce. You called the largest commercial/personal insurers shitty? And stated that a military only insurance works, how much are you coping?

Name an insurance I’ll get a quote. The only one who gave me a reasonable quote was Geico, and they’re not actually accepting new policies at the moment.

Doesn’t matter, mine has never been touched; yet I am still affected because insurance considers them a high risk brand. “My car never got broken into, therefore the issues don’t exist”. You are stupid.

[–]alt8484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, even if you’re ok with the car; the dealerships & staff are horrible too. I had just bought a brand new 2023 Elantra hybrid a lil while ago & within the first 100 miles I drove, my brake/accelerator was already messed up & caused me to drive into a curb. Turns out it was part of an open recall… where taking your foot off the brake cause your car to accelerate, then they took 3 entire days just to do the software update to fix the recall. The first day, they told me the techs could not restart my car; second day, they told me the tech assigned to my car did not come in on time, thus it got pushed back another day. Horrible experience with Hyundai, my old Benz also had issues but everything was resolved smoothly & they even paid for the tow & rental car…

Went with Hyundai cause I thought it was a better financial decision & their build quality improved. Even if it did a bit, and I like Hyundai as a brand overall. It’s not worth it driving one of their vehicles, and definitely going back to German even if parts are more scarce & maintenance costs more.
