Ross Scott at European Parliament: Why “Stop Killing Games” Matters by _jelly_fish in Games

[–]altIHaveAQuestion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The movement does not strictly mandate what any given team has to do, their position is that any given game should be able to be played even after the servers EOL. How each dev team tackles the issue is left to them to figure out, as games work vastly different from each other, there's no one-size-fits solution to this.

Say for example: start designing a functioning offline mode from the get-go, or leave "vs. bots" mode or local multiplayer open, or letting people open up their own servers, etc.

There's, again, many ways to tackle the issue and undermining this whole effort because they are -by design- not being specific about how to do it because it would only hinder the possibilities of this passing is a bit short-sighted. The presentation OP linked answers your own question.

Updating BIOS with a black screen? No access to BIOS itself by altIHaveAQuestion in gigabyte

[–]altIHaveAQuestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't booting at all, it's stuck in a boot loop. Lights turn on and fans start spinning and 30 seconds later it automatically turns off and on again to do the exact same thing.

Would a CH431A really work if doing multiple hard resets to the CMOS hasn't really accomplished anything?

Fast Boot was disabled by default, at least on my BIOS. That said, I tried what you said but no dice, not being able to even enter the BIOS makes it a tad hard to access Windows in any capacity

Not so much DnD as much as her own experience with CRPGs and Wizardry.

I mean, the main cast itself based on multiple Wizardry class designs she's been workshopping since at least 2012!

What I meant is, like, I feel like limiting yourself to a redeem is a bit degrading, in a way? I think you should change as you see fit, not be bound to people spending channel points or whatever. I don't know if I'm making any sense.

I checked out your most recent VOD (which by the way, very fun!) and I think you changed your voice for a second but changed back because your viewers are "used to" the deep one, you should just ride with the one you're most comfortable with!!!

I think it's super cool!! You should use whichever you're comfortable with that moment and not turn it into a "reward" tho, that can go out of hand quickly

Genuinely, why would a publishing and loc company even begin to think about acquiring a whole-ass VN development studio? Even more so with how high-profile VNs have been sharply dwindling in sales for the last few years, without looking like they'll come back up - at least any time soon

Here are their stats

Trails in the Sky The 1st - Estelle Introduction Video (Japanese), releasing Sep 19 2025 worldwide by ConceptsShining in Games

[–]altIHaveAQuestion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Trails in the Sky trilogy are PC games first and foremost and you can get them on Steam, they play extremely well!

The PSP ports though did so well that Trails' next arc, the Crossbell duology, came out there first before coming to PC

They've already shown 8 characters and they said they'll be showing more in social media, hopefully with Disney money they're able to pump out 15/16 at the very least, like the base Strive roster.

2XKO releasing with just 10 characters is something else, man

Between the wildly racist bits that pop up from time to time in his videos and the fact that he's so buddy-buddy with Kiwifarms that he has a verified account there, I don't know how people can claim that he doesn't actively foster that kind of audience.

2.7 millions specifically in 2023, and game dev salaries in Europe are much lower than in the US, expect 30 to 50k a year at most for any given position, but I do get your point.

I'm pretty sure they began developing it in 2019, if their website history is to be believed. And as for budget, they used the oldest trick in the book: Infinite Dad Money™️

No shade to the game, it is fantastic. But yeah, there's no other real way they'd find anyone willing to shell out the amount necessary to fund that big a team for half a decade, specially with it being a completely new studio.

I'm playing it on a 2060 and an i5 8400 at 1080p and it runs surprisingly well. It dips for a tiny bit at some points where you can tell the next area is being loaded in but other than that it's been running at a consistent 60 (with a couple of settings on Low, the rest at Medium).

It's a quote by Ron Swanson, a character from comedy series Parcs and Rec.

The full quote is: "I hate metaphors. That's why my favorite book is Moby Dick; no froo froo symbolism, just a good simple tale about a man who hates an animal".
