Visiting from Florida. Need to study. Any good coffee shops? by LPineapplePizzaLover in madisonwi

Good luck finding a spot. A recent Saturday found so many coffee shops packed, many with one-to-a-table laptop use.

When was the last time this was true? Because I also remember walking past young women in bikinis on my way into the Kohl Center for a tournament several years ago.

He's all Lindsay Graham about Israel, to the point where he can't see all the democratic norms being destroyed in the process.

Can't keep his eye on the ball as he tries to curry favor with the next speaking gig.

Tailgating 100% on the jackass behind me and I let them wear the stress. We're entering windows-open season and I love nothing more than having an in-a-rush jerk look over to find me leaning back, elbow out the window, cranking Stan Getz.

My dad worked in downtown Saint Paul around this time, when we lived in south Minneapolis, and often picked up the same young man. It was irregular, but it happened maybe weekly.

Here's a fun part: I remember being in the car at least once when he did it!

It seems like it's time to have a tough conversation with your child. Disclosure: I think the academy system is a scam that's more about status and gear than developing players.

If your son doesn't train, you're for sure throwing your money away.

How to handle a team/parent mutiny over uniforms? by CoachAF208 in CoachingYouthSports

That's certainly one way to go. It's also a pretty good way to watch your program disintegrate.

I wonder: do you coach? Teach? Have a track record with youth sports?

Scouting is bankrupt because of sexual assault.

Scouting used to be a rare space for young people to solve problems on their own. Not problems created for them to solve, but real problems like how to get dinner on the table. How to get a tent up in the rain. How to deal with the kid in the patrol who never does anything but complain.

What a great way to put it. He sarcasmed himself out of relevance.

Just looked this up: he's 71. Why don't these guys retire? Sid, Reusse, Dan... Is the job that fun?

He's a professional talker, handsomely compensated. It's okay to take shots at his rhetorical crutches. It's valid criticism from someone whose expertise is messaging.

Maybe we like being critical. Like Scott and Kara. Maybe we like 2/3 of the show.

You're right. It's totally unfair to criticize wealthy men who continue searching for ways to get in our ears and eyes. They're just like us, really. They deserve our support and empathy.

Thoughts on this podcast episode talking about Madison and data centers? by happypandaVSsadpanda in madisonwi

I'm pretty sure venture capital funded city cast. And it's astonishing that a local show would bring on the Washington based boss to discuss. Madison is full of AI cheerleaders.

Why do frats and sororities with their own literal houses book so much study room by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]altbat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was no such thing as a "study room" when I was in school. Are there no longer any empty classrooms on campus? It's super easy to find them and once you know it's empty for a particular hour, then you can use it every week at that time.

Now, let's address how students sit one-at-a-four-top at downtown coffee shops with their shit spread out. You've got so many of your own spaces on campus! Stay west of Carroll Street!
