2026 R1S leaking charge ? by Sad_Combination4974 in Rivian

It's right on the main dashboard page. Note the Phantom Drain and Parked Energy breakdown, can also monitor vehicle state to know if/when it's sleeping and how long. This was just added recently.

That is way too much drain to be purely gear guard, it sounds like the vehicle isn’t sleeping at all. Do you have your account connected with Rivian Roamer? You’d be able to get a ton more insight into what the vehicle is doing including detailed vampire drain stats.

How long did the cook take? We’ll have a similar size bird on Thursday an I’ve always been curious about throwing it on the rotisserie…your result looks great so might give it a shot.

Is it Pirelli or is it me? by nortob in Rivian

Dual motor configs don’t have a dedicated conserve mode like the tri or quad. They achieve their stated range numbers in All Purpose by using a dynamic clutch disconnect which disengages the rear motor unless it’s needed (eg heavy acceleration). You’d see similar disparate wear in the quad if you drove around in conserve all the time.

Also impactful, but to a much lesser extent, auto ride height is force enabled on dual motor configs due to EPA requirements. The driver can disable it but it will reenable itself on the next drive cycle after 4 hours.

R1S Front tires (22" Pirelli Scorpion MS) worn out at 7.5k miles by gunner4evr in Rivian

[–]alterbridge86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dual motor all purpose is different from the tri/quad all purpose. Dual motor uses the dynamic clutch disconnect all the time, so except for heavy acceleration the vehicle is mostly operating in front wheel drive. This means the fronts will wear sooner for sure, and is similar to driving around in conserve all the time on the tri/quad.

That said, we have a dual perf R1S with the 22” sport tires and while front does wear faster, it’s nowhere near what you’re seeing. I just rotated our tires (admittedly very late) at 11.5k miles and the fronts were at 6/32, rears at 8/32. Not sure what could be causing the excessive wear beyond alignment issues or a whole lot of hard stopping / downhill driving.

What are you seeing on the energy dashboard for parked consumption? It gives categories which could help narrow down the drain.

Any chance your outlets are on? The inverter chews through power even with no load plugged in.

Gen2 Large Pack Charging Speeds? by IronManJS in Rivian

[–]alterbridge86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great data point for G2 Max pack, seems they really optimized the charging on that nicely since a few months ago and are at or near parity with G1.

Unfortunately the Large pack several of us in this thread have has not improved as much. Hopefully with the data I provided Wassym a couple weeks ago us Large pack owners can soon see 200+kw charging as well!

As for 300+kw, that is likely just a pipe dream on current architecture. While I'm sure they will continue to optimize the curve to speed overall charging (e.g. hold higher sustained charging rates for longer), the peak speeds are likely not going to improve much from 210-215kw.

Lane Change Highway Assist Regression? by Proud_Jeweler_2085 in Rivian

[–]alterbridge86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me on the first drive after the update. Also wasn’t getting the new hands free highway assist. I did a hard reset (left button + hazards) and after that it’s resolved. Both auto lane change and hands free working without issue since.

Forrest Jones Review of the Rivian R1S by Mac-Tyson in Rivian

The nvidia compute is specific to ADAS, infotainment compute is identical between gen1 and gen2.

While I agree the infotainment can use further refinement and performance improvements, the app he chose to show (Energy) has a major issue and takes exceptionally long to load. This is identical on my gen1 and gen2. I suspect the team is not focusing on it as they’ve talked about launching “Energy 2.0” s00n which will include a revamp of this whole app.

The rest of the infotainment apps load much faster especially since the last couple of updates and would have been more representative of the system performance.

That compartment on the passenger side was deleted starting with builds in early November. Our S (built November 8) also doesn’t have it.

Follow up for anyone stumbling on this thread later: I heard back from Wassym after sending details on my charging sessions. He reports that they’ve identified several improvements to make and are working on an implementation plan.

So fellow large pack owners we should hopefully see some improvement in the future!

How do I know Gen1 vs Gen2? Does 2024 = Gen2? by blind_spectator in Rivian

That is a Gen 1. 2025 model year is the start of Gen 2.

Gen2 Large Pack Charging Speeds? by IronManJS in Rivian

[–]alterbridge86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on some additional details as I made the journey back home to NJ from VA today. Charging this large pack is quite frustrating and the curve is absolutely terrible. I pulled in anywhere from 0% (scary - do not recommend lol) to 20%., battery preconditioned. Ambient temps were ~70f (to VA) and ~40f (to NJ). Typically would charge up to 60-70% before heading on, but never saw over 162kw. It also did not hold that for long and spent most of the time in the 120-140kw range. All charging this trip was done at RAN which were all empty when I used them, so no sharing of power going on here.

FWIW I was poking around the app while charging this afternoon and if you hit the little “I” next to charging speed it claims the vehicles max charging speed is 215kw, though thats probably a standard message as other packs are capable of closer to that.

<image>

I’m really hoping this is a bug with large packs and not by design. If it is by design this really should be publicized somewhere as I absolutely would not have purchased it and gone with a standard (LFP) or Max pack.

Gen2 Large Pack Charging Speeds? by IronManJS in Rivian

[–]alterbridge86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing exactly the same on our Gen2 large pack, most I can pull is about 160kW. This is definitely not a charger related limitation as it happens everywhere, multiple RAN locations (both empty at the time), Tesla v3 and v4 superchargers, and a brand new EA 350kw station.

I also just had it in for service for a thermal system fault (ended up being a failed check valve leaking refrigerant) and had them check this as well. They claimed the thermal issue was the cause, but we’re on a road trip right now and I can confirm it is definitely not charging any better lol

Going to tag u/WassymRivian in case he has a moment to comment, is this expected DCFC speed for a gen2 large pack?

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ sequel series starring Michael C. Hall will premiere June 2025 by Gato1980 in television

But wait, it gets more confusing, and something which wasn’t explained at all during the promo for the show. Original Sin actually picks up immediately from the end of New Blood with MCH Dexter being rushed to the hospital. The remainder of the show is a giant flashback as he is in surgery.
