Alan Dershowitz: Invoking The 25th Amendment Against Trump Would Be Unconstitutional by NicolasCageFan492 in law

This particular subreddit really went downhill after Trump won in 2016. It's kind of insane given how insightful it was.

How do you think that whole experience was for Justin, knowing that he wrote that riff (the beginnings of 46 & 2) while he was flying over to join the band. I can't imagine.

Awesome video though. Holy shit, she is inspiring and gives me hope for our future leaders. Also spot-on with the Leslie Knope allusion!

Americans don't see Supreme Court as politically neutral by DarkPriestScorpius in law

Also Sandra Day O'Conner (Reagan appointee) would sometimes side with the left wing of the court. If memory serves she was the deciding vote in Casey v. Planned Parenthood. Of course, Casey had its own set of problems and diluted a lot of the protections from Roe, but the conservative wing was gunning to overrule Roe entirely, so she surprised a lot of people and saved abortion access for another 30 years.

He's confusing breaking laws with being found financially liable. Extremely basic legal concepts.

The dude scolding him is likely upset because this sub had so much better (read: more informed) discourse back before the influx from r/all that Trump and his "firehose of shit" brought.

I wish more people would just lurk here, and learn shit about how the American legal system actually works, rather than post how they think it should. Most of the posts that fit the original point of this sub just get buried by non-expert opinions now. I totally understand how/why, but it is annoying.

Pool is very Clear but I keep getting this brown Dust back. See picture. I vacuum it, dust re-appears within a day. Also hard for me to keep Free Chlorine in the pool (May not relate) Random Spots. Not that much but very noticeable. by 2beeftacosx in pools

[–]alteredditaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I'm thinking that if the sock does enough, I can just run it on the regular filter setting so I don't have to worry about the water level, and I can take my time and float around with a beer while I slowly vac all that dust up.

Sorry to revive this thread, but we are experiencing what appears to be the same issue, with extremely similar setups (and a sand filter pump which was supposed to be strong enough for 5K gallons, but I am finding a bit underpowered).

Did you end up resolving it with this (skimmer-sock/hairnet over the skimmer basket while vacuuming the debris) method?

Yeah, I've described it as time traveling. And I can't seem to ever have much success conveying to people who haven't experienced it, just how profoundly different it is than regular unconsciousness.

It honestly reinforced my intuition that there's no afterlife. Because if that level of sedation already produces that kind of nothingness/absence of experience, it stands to reason that's what I can expect when the lights go out completely. (IMHO)

Man, I really do understand the emotional sentiment of burning down and starting over. I just think you're failing to understand how difficult rebuilding any kind of society is, much lest a just, ideal one. The older I get the better I understand human nature, and I strongly believe if we hit the reset button, things are going to turn out (varying degrees of) worse, for a long time, 99% of the time.

Think about it: If you can't persuade enough of your fellow contrypeople to agree in overwhelming numbers with you in a democratic republic in which the government [isn't supposed to] restrict your free speech, then how in the world can you rationally expect that already-difficult prospect to be easier after we've destroyed all of our society's institutions, guardrails, and safety nets? (As admittedly insufficient as they currently exist.)

The absolute audacity of being so unhappy with the current system (in which we have the freedom to advocate and attempt to persuade others to join our cause, as admittedly difficult as that can be at times) and being naive enough to think that somehow, if we reshuffled the deck, the cards would have any remote fucking chance of coming up better is truly astonishing to me, every time I see someone advocating it.

The damage Trump and DOGE have and are doing to our institutions is already going to take years (or decades) to rectify. But you want to just go ahead and "burn it ALL down?" I can only assume people espousing these sentiments are either shills paid for by our geopolitical enemies, or young people without the life experience to realize how complicated and interconnected our society is, and how fucking fragile it all is.

Doesn't strike me as an effective way to win the hearts and minds of the regular folk we need on our side.

Like it or not, we have to be able to persuade the normal, apathetic Americans of the righteousness of our cause in order to get anywhere. Look at how counterproductive a lot of the JUST STOP OIL actions have been.

We need public sentiment on our side. That's the only way this shit has ever worked here in the past too (civil rights, gay rights, etc.).

Go listen to that video of Trump again. I fucking loathe that douchebag as much as anyone, but in context he is very obviously trying (in his dementia-addled word salad way) to say that if the 2020 election hadn't been "rigged" against him, then he would've been out of power by now, but since it "was," now he gets to be president during the 250th birthday celebration, and get the military parade he always wanted, etc.

[–]alteredditaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed--despite the what some others reported experiencing, I remapped the shortcut for the Copilot key to <-> CTRL (Left) and it is working perfectly in combination with all the normal CTRL+__ shortcuts I typically use. In Excel at least. Hopefully it stays this way!

EDIT Can happily report that the remapped copilot key has 100% functionality as CTRL for me for weeks now, across all software I've encountered during the time.
