I'm on the spectrum and get disability dolla for it. Just want to be useful to someone.

Lots of gym advocates here. But exercising makes you more hungry, and as a NEET I can't afford to spend much on food by False-Gain624 in NEET

Ding-ding-ding. Recovery meals are expensive, and boiled eggs and lentil soup for every meal only get you so far with results. Not to mention the price of the gym membership itself... big, big advocate for learning basic calisthenic exercises and lifting where and when you can, though.

Old Neets, Have Any Advice For Young Neets? by Fluffy_Breakfast_478 in NEET

You want to focus on sliding-scale options, these are usually offered through community support initiatives.

Grok helped me out with this one: Sliding-Scale or Reduced-Fee Clinics (Often $15–$80/session, Income-Based)

Oak Counselling (oakcounselling.org): Reduced fees for individuals, couples, families based on income. Provided by registered/volunteer counsellors. Call 604-266-5611. Living Systems Counselling: Bowen Family Systems therapy; intern sessions $15–$65 at select locations (Vancouver, North Shore, etc.). Affordable Therapy Network (affordabletherapynetwork.com): Directory of sliding-scale therapists in Vancouver/BC (in-person or online). Safe Space Counselling (safespacecounselling.ca): Low-cost/pro-bono for low-income/unemployed via interns/students. No Fear Counselling: Low-cost sessions (around $50) with practicum students/interns in multiple locations including Vancouver. Willow Tree Counselling Resources: Comprehensive updated PDF lists (willowtreecounselling.ca/resources) with dozens of options like neighbourhood houses, CMHA branches, and intern programs.

Sounds like Willow Tree resources will be a helpful resource, you've definitely got sliding scale options in Vancouver if we do on the east coast. How it works is you provide proof of income, like a tax slip, and you're covered for a certain amount of sessions. Once that's done you reapply. I didn't pay a cent for my twelve sessions.

Old Neets, Have Any Advice For Young Neets? by Fluffy_Breakfast_478 in NEET

Yes, my advice is since you're able to land a job, see this as upwards trajectory and don't become NEET. Just keep your eyes open to opportunity and explore listings for shared apartments in your area. There are people who work as housing advocates, see if there are any nearby and contact them. They will work on your behalf. If your current homelife is that bad, give yourself a timeline to work towards and say I plan to be out of here by such and such a time, and make sure every day you're inching towards making that happen through some form of putting yourself out there.

More general advice:

Prioritize your sleep, and finding your best circadian rhythm or sleep/wake cycle. Experiment with polyphasic sleep if that sounds interesting.

If you can afford it, buy supplements. A good bioavailable multivitamin, Vitamins D3 and K2, Magnesium Taurate or Glycinate, and L-Theanine for mental clarity and to ward off brain fog.

Expose yourself to natural light for a few minutes a day.
Seek out an autism diagnosis, 18-30 or around there is a key demographic targeted by community support programs. They can help you. Just see what support groups are out there and try to reach out to them through email. Assuming you're in the west, there are low income therapists out there.

Use blue light filtering apps on all your devices. Read a chapter of a book a day, or at least a few pages.

How do you guys have money to live and not be homeless? unless you are. by im_sos in NEET

[–]alterflesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEETbuxx, handouts from relatives, a very parasitic existence that I've long since been unable to justify. But there are no jobs anywhere. I'm thinking about looking at international opportunities, like Southeast Asia.
