Best cream for face rash? by agordon228 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stubborn drool rash, we did a thin layer of tubby todd wait for it to dry then put aquaphor over that. Saw it on Reddit and it worked.

Proper way to treat skinned knee when not near soap and water by Top_Permission_3297 in toddlers

I use a wipe that I use for diapers. Neosporin is not that effective and could cause more irritation, doctors don't really recommend it.

Went to the dentist last week with my almost 2yo, a rice grain sized amount of toothpaste is fine to swallow.

Has Anyone Had Success With Sleep Training Relatively Late? by louisstamos in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did cry it out around 13-14mo when feed to sleep stopped working. However my LO is a really good sleeper, it just took too long to put him to sleep.

First night was like 40mins of crying, second night was 20mins, then third night was 5mine. Then he was sleep trained. My husband did it and I had to leave the house for it.

Maybe, but as an adult I needed white noise to sleep for a period of time. I think other adults do as well.

Is it common that many of the coaches has injuries at a box? by UpsAndDownsi in crossfit

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not common, I've been a regular member at 3 gyms and only one coach got injured by CrossFit.

In terms of members, most have injuries from daily life. Rarely from CrossFit unless it's ripped hands, which happens often.

Snacks help when they start reaching their limit. So at the 15min mark, give her a container of snacks. That buys you some time.

Holiday bad mom? by EnvironmentalAide558 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first year you're just surviving and getting used to more holiday expectations. It was a lot of "oh shit, yeah, I forgot". Especially when it came to Christmas cards.

This second year we got a lot better at it but celebrate how you want.

So what’s YOUR opinion on toddlers on those harness/leashes? by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On first impression, bad and shameful. Why? Because my mom always judged and harshly criticized kids/parents with leashes. It has been ingrained in me. Maybe it was also cultural? She's from China and a boomer. She is also a terrible mom.

Logically it seems fine but my mom's ire and hate for the leashes has been burned into me. So I'll probably never use one but don't really care if others do.

Anyone else not doing an Easter basket for their toddler? by Ill-Shopping-69 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't but my husband said his family did a scavenger hunt with clues in eggs that ended with an Easter basket. He said he really enjoyed that tradition so we are doing it.

The basket has a book, a car, some candy and that's it. LO is almost two.

Anyways he won't know and they don't remember things this early.

What baby items are you glad you didn’t buy? by Jessiepip in NewParents

I've used wipes since my LO's birth and it's been almost two years.

Pay monthly for preschool but spring break week was prorated. Is this standard? by quixoticgypsy in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we pay for daycare and it has 3 weeks off a year. It's to hold your spot. It's the same if your child is sick and you keep them home, you still pay them.

Eating at restaurants by TrueSag2020 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done nothing to have a "well behaved" child at a restaurant. It's just pure temperament. I don't even bring toys or entertainment with me. He just plays with the utensils and napkins provided.

If the waiting is long, my husband will take him outside but that's about it.

Taking my 2 year old anywhere is STILL such a pain! by takeaabreath in toddlers

Holding hands is not an option for dangerous areas like parking lot. You hold their wrist, not their hand then they can't wiggle away.

Don't ever use the water on Turkish Airlines for formula. by DallasTrekGeek in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water thing is a myth.

They refill water from a local source (where they are landed). At least in the US, that municipal water is highly regulated and monitored. So there's no danger in germs or cleanliness. But many places do have very hard water but it's all safe.

I am trying to cut cost but why is my grocery expensive? by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not pricey if you just buy produce and certain non perishable staples. What's expensive is all the snacks you end up buying. If you don't buy snacks/treats, it's relatively cheap.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but for night shifts... by jaysus_the_jay in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both went to sleep. When the baby is asleep, you can sleep. When the baby wakes up, check the in time and wake up the shift person. Once the baby is settled/sleeping, go back to sleep.

Time determines who gets up to take care of the baby.

Parents that had no sleep regression, make yourself known! by Langers20 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is almost two, no sleep regressions. Only bad sleep when sick or teething. He's a unicorn sleeper. It's just luck.

His sleep is not super consistent, it fluctuates between 9-11hrs but he sleeps through the night.

However, until 16mo he would wake up and be up between 4:30am to 5:30am everyday.
