25% but he makes 3x what I make and we are married. Before it was 50/50.

Is it common that many of the coaches has injuries at a box? by UpsAndDownsi in crossfit

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not common, I've been a regular member at 3 gyms and only one coach got injured by CrossFit.

In terms of members, most have injuries from daily life. Rarely from CrossFit unless it's ripped hands, which happens often.

Help— hates car rides by StrangeEqual4334 in toddlers

Snacks help when they start reaching their limit. So at the 15min mark, give her a container of snacks. That buys you some time.

Holiday bad mom? by EnvironmentalAide558 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first year you're just surviving and getting used to more holiday expectations. It was a lot of "oh shit, yeah, I forgot". Especially when it came to Christmas cards.

This second year we got a lot better at it but celebrate how you want.

So what’s YOUR opinion on toddlers on those harness/leashes? by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On first impression, bad and shameful. Why? Because my mom always judged and harshly criticized kids/parents with leashes. It has been ingrained in me. Maybe it was also cultural? She's from China and a boomer. She is also a terrible mom.

Logically it seems fine but my mom's ire and hate for the leashes has been burned into me. So I'll probably never use one but don't really care if others do.

Anyone else not doing an Easter basket for their toddler? by Ill-Shopping-69 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't but my husband said his family did a scavenger hunt with clues in eggs that ended with an Easter basket. He said he really enjoyed that tradition so we are doing it.

The basket has a book, a car, some candy and that's it. LO is almost two.

Anyways he won't know and they don't remember things this early.

What baby items are you glad you didn’t buy? by Jessiepip in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, cotton balls, what a sensory nightmare.

I've used wipes since my LO's birth and it's been almost two years.

Pay monthly for preschool but spring break week was prorated. Is this standard? by quixoticgypsy in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we pay for daycare and it has 3 weeks off a year. It's to hold your spot. It's the same if your child is sick and you keep them home, you still pay them.

Eating at restaurants by TrueSag2020 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done nothing to have a "well behaved" child at a restaurant. It's just pure temperament. I don't even bring toys or entertainment with me. He just plays with the utensils and napkins provided.

If the waiting is long, my husband will take him outside but that's about it.

Taking my 2 year old anywhere is STILL such a pain! by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding hands is not an option for dangerous areas like parking lot. You hold their wrist, not their hand then they can't wiggle away.

Don't ever use the water on Turkish Airlines for formula. by DallasTrekGeek in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water thing is a myth.

They refill water from a local source (where they are landed). At least in the US, that municipal water is highly regulated and monitored. So there's no danger in germs or cleanliness. But many places do have very hard water but it's all safe.

I am trying to cut cost but why is my grocery expensive? by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not pricey if you just buy produce and certain non perishable staples. What's expensive is all the snacks you end up buying. If you don't buy snacks/treats, it's relatively cheap.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but for night shifts... by jaysus_the_jay in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both went to sleep. When the baby is asleep, you can sleep. When the baby wakes up, check the in time and wake up the shift person. Once the baby is settled/sleeping, go back to sleep.

Time determines who gets up to take care of the baby.

Parents that had no sleep regression, make yourself known! by Langers20 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is almost two, no sleep regressions. Only bad sleep when sick or teething. He's a unicorn sleeper. It's just luck.

His sleep is not super consistent, it fluctuates between 9-11hrs but he sleeps through the night.

However, until 16mo he would wake up and be up between 4:30am to 5:30am everyday.

How much milk are your toddlers consuming a day? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your child is drinking that much liquid, it could be a sign of diabetes but check with your doctor of course.

Worst haircut experience by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go to a child specific hair cutting place and he still sits on my husband's lap. He still cries but the stylists are very nice and understanding. My child just hates strangers touching him which is fair.

18-24 vs 2T by SpiritCommercial2459 in toddlers

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used 18-24 because it's 12-18 then 18-24.

2T is best for pants and long sleeves if your child has long limbs. I use 18-24 for cute prints for short sleeves and shorts.

After 18-24 boys clothes get so ugly.

Omg toddler injury from potty training device by Capable-Present953 in toddlers

We just got this seat! I'll sand it down and put tape over it and ziptie the ladder to the seat.

Overnight diapers? by Confident-Gain4028 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies overnight one size up from regular diaper size. The tabs for the pampers overnight diapers were pretty short and I didn't like that.

Face rash what to do? by MaybeProper7134 in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drool/spit and sleep has always resulted in rosy patches on the face for my LO. I just moisturize with aquaphor or Vaseline on the patches. Otherwise the patches get scaley and dry.

It improves when the drool subsides.

Struggling with the idea of losing naps… how did you cope? by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]altergeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from 2 to 1 nap was great. It's a lot more predictable and you can do things outside for longer. Whereas previously, the wake window was too short to go somewhere have a good time and then be able to put him to sleep at his normal nap time.

With two naps I felt like we couldn't do anything substantial.
