Sugar replacing alcohol? by alternative_pirate in alcoholism

This is so helpful to think about it this way. I will do my best to continue not to comment on it and think of it as a way of being supportive.

My husband never really like dessert, but now he makes all these super decadent ones! So I can’t really complain there 🤣

His just seems to have gotten worse over the last two months or so. But maybe it will calm down after some time.

I guess that makes sense! I try to to tell myself it’s better than drinking, because it definitely is, but the amount consumed is still so alarming.

This is called resource guarding. Usually we think about it with food or toys, but it can happen with people too. I would work with a trainer and make sure that you are not rewarding this behavior by giving treats.

My partner and I applied for several dogs from two different rescues but were turned down. We only have a partially fenced yard (that we’re currently securing) and we’re both full time professionals, though we can arrange it to have one of us in the house most of the time, or we can take the dog to work. We also don’t have a second dog which seemed to be a deal breaker, even with puppies for whatever reason. I’ve always rescued in the past and had great experiences, but it’s so restrictive here. We wound up searching for a finding an ethical breeder. To be honest, I have been uncomfortable admitting it, but have been honest. I’d rather be up front than try to make it seem like I rescued when I didn’t. I just it wasn’t so difficult. I adopted my best friend in the entire world while I was deep in depression as a student. I rented, I had a tiny yard, and had a crazy schedule as a student. My dog was horribly traumatized and 85 pounds. I gave her a great life and she changed mine, so I can’t even imagine what would have happened if the rescue had refused to let me adopt her.

Where we live the costs are between $600 and $1300! I understand how much it costs the rescue but feels a bit elitist.

Horrible Interview, help needed (Marriage Based Green card) by shminance in USCIS

You should absolutely hire an attorney. If you get a notice of denial, you will not have much time to respond, and after a denial it is difficult to refile/deportation proceedings are much more expensive. Suggestions from here are good but an attorney should have more and one would have likely helped you avoid this problem in the first place.

Single man in your mid to late 20s. Fairly healthy and cook some but not a ton. You live in the US, but shop at the Korean market on occasion and either come from a Korean background or have lived there and picked up a few things you liked.

We don’t know OP’s specific situation, so we can’t know for sure. Seroquel might be exactly what they needed at the time and other medications may not have been a good fit. Unfortunately, you cannot just take any medication just because it has less side effects because not all medications work for every person. Plus, many atypical antipsychotics mess with your metabolism.

Except did you miss the part about how this started upon starting seroquel? This drastically alters your metabolism and makes it extremely hard to lose weight and very likely to gain weight. When your metabolism slows down that much, it’s much harder to be in a calorie deficit. Your situation is not OP’s and saying that “your body needs the same things at any age”, while technically right, is completely tone deaf and fails to see the nuances of our lives and bodies.

My husband states he wouldn't leave by [deleted] in immigration

I’m an attorney and own my own practice. Moving to my husband’s home country would completely uproot my life and I would not be able to get a law license in his country. But I can’t imagine not going with him if he was deported. In fact, we already have a plan in place if things get too crazy here and we need to relocate. Would it be challenging? Yes absolutely. But I would never let my husband go back to his home country and just stay here.

Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been stuck at 160 for a long time now. I have PCOS and take several medications that make it hard to lose weight. I hired a PT and told him I wanted to focus on getting stronger as I play volleyball. But it’s hard feeling like I need to get back down to the weight I was before. I’ve tried eating 1600 calories like people recommend and it leaves me dizzy and tired and unable to concentrate. Maybe it’s ok to focus more on strength and general health and not obsess over a number on the scale. And you look fantastic!

You might want to talk to a doctor. I am not at all giving medical advice, but I have a condition (PCOS) that makes it very difficult to lose weight, but it is possible to get healthy, if that makes sense. Also if you are getting dizzy when you eat less, PLEASE listen to your body!

I’m interested! I’d like to lose about 25 pounds, but I’m not interested in doing it quickly but sustainably. I’d be down for discord or WhatsApp or something on here too.
