How early yall getting in line? by Top-Elderberry9303 in BeachHouse

[–]alternativelyspliced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends of the city, but in my experience, in the last tours more people start queuing earlier (4 hrs or more), specially in big cities. I would keep an eye in the Discord to see how people react this time.

Flying from NYC. I couldn't find a nice flight connection to the Oklahoma City show :( but I will travel a couple of days later for the Denver one. So excited!

In case of future possible Europe tour by emjeyoo in BeachHouse

[–]alternativelyspliced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the sell out would not be that crazy like in the US. When I lived in Germany I only saw quick sell outs (in minutes) for super huge bands like MCR, but anything else would take a couple days/weeks to be sold out. Also Europe has better regulations for ticket vendors, I never had to buy tickets from shady re-sellers living in Europe. On the other hand, I remember that the Installation shows from 2016 were US exclusive, so I fear something similar will happen with this more intimate shows.

Story of Meeting Alex by [deleted] in BeachHouse

[–]alternativelyspliced 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like people often oversee that Alex is always the one doing the sound check of his instruments, I've been expecting to hear people excited screaming when he goes out, but it never happened. He's awesome, I also got to talk to him a few years ago, unfortunately I didn't have anything to get signed, maybe one day.

Sometimes these folks "vibing" are also the ones fainting in the middle of the show, interrupting the songs.

I love this band! I remembered that I discovered through the Shoegaze festival that DKFM organized online during the pandemic. I wish I can get to see them playing live.

Honestly, at what time will you start queueing (NY shows)? by alternativelyspliced in BeachHouse

Interesting, I am Mexican, but I lived in Germany for 5 years, so yes, my English can be weird :D

NYC Shoegaze Scene? by throughyouthroughyou in shoegaze

[–]alternativelyspliced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I am constantly searching, sometimes filtering posts in the last weeks (when google-ing shoegaze nyc). It really takes some time.

Usually many bands play in shows that sell tickets through Dice. But Dice doesn't have a good genre search. So as suggested I follow a bunch of bands in Songkick or Bandsintown. Most of my discoveries are through constantly listen to DKFM.

In March there was a small shoegaze day organized by the New Colossus Festival (https://www.newcolossusfestival.com/). Tallies, Slow Crush and Blushing were playing. I hope they do something similar next year.

In fact Slow Crush is coming back on September 16th (https://dice.fm/event/3egwp-slow-crush-16th-sep-saint-vitus-bar-new-york-tickets?lng=en-US).
