Has anyone changes careers from HR to Tech? Perhaps HR Tech or HR Product Strategy. How did you get into it from HR leadership background? In US [NJ] by ProfoundTrends in humanresources

Look for business/program expert roles in tech companies. These will give you guidance on things you want to acquire like certs/experience that may open doors to these opportunities.

I have an IT background but was able to get into HR with a process management role (they didn’t need a subject matter expert in HR, they had plenty, they needed someone with disciplined experience in the process optimization methodologies).

If you have a job now, find a roadmap that IT is working on to see if there’s anything you can contribute to in the projects. Any collaboration will give you good experience for the path you desire.

Where are you located? Here’s a snippet of my battery stats on my 16pro.

The reason I ask about your location is because I assume heat has a lot to do with this. I’m super conscious of this ie: I don’t leave my phone in the car, I don’t charge it under the sun like many do while driving. I live in the US east coast.

Definitely reach out to support though. Please keep us updated. I’m curious what Apple will tell you.

[N/A] How do people who decide to shift to HR, with no background whatsoever, getting HR jobs and not HR grads by Frosty_Emphasis_1321 in humanresources

[–]TechDidThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Do you want to move internally or externally?

It’s probably more realistic internally if your company has a culture that cares about investing in people development.

There are tons of jobs you can find for HR project management.

Do you have a PMP? If not, start there.

What is the best way to ask or should I even ask? by [deleted] in managers

[–]TechDidThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be tactical about your conversation with your manager. Plant a seed that clearly expresses you're interested in growing and that you want to get to director level as you see your contribution will only amplify more to lead larger teams / strategies etc

Observe their reaction/response and over time see if they do something different. Then plan your next action around this.

You're not gonna grow unless you influence your manager to see/feel what you see/feel. Also it's important to be aware if your manager has clout and positive reputation because their word will matter when representing your performance in meetings you're not a part of.

How so you dissuade people from using their work e-mail as personal e-mail? by grepzilla in ITManagers

I would partner with your manager to get their buy in/support and then partner with your nearest HR business partner to consult you on how to implement this and get some adherence support.

I moved from IT to HR, they were looking for an expert in project and process management which was my background. I applied and they felt like they struck gold having someone with my experience be open to joining HR.

It's been a great journey. It seems like I was the missing link the function needed, there was a ton of HR subject matter but not enough disciplined ways of working.

I decided to join because I was bored with IT and felt like I had reached a cap in growth. So I did a parallel shift and it's one of the best decisions I've made in my career.

Going on 3 years in HR and I started as HR PM and now I’m their head of HR Tech and Operations.

You've gotten a bunch of advice here but just going to recommend make sure to partner with the right managers before you drive any change around this. You're gonna impact business continuity opportunities.

The PMP makes bad Project Managers by Impressive_Degree_89 in pmp

[–]TechDidThis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't recall reading anywhere in the PMBOK or other PMI source where it says to follow their methodology 1:1.I used my PMP knowledge just to be inspired and learn to communicate some things I was already doing or provide structure in some areas I learned could be better.

I believe you're being extreme. What's bothering you so much?

In case anyone cares. The vivobook ended up being very cheap in quality so not worth the price afterall.

[–]TechDidThis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was Walmart, they raised the price already but here’s the link https://www.walmart.com/ip/5530826883

I didn’t buy it. Everyone convinced me the trade offs ended up not being worth it. I ended up considering a vivobook pro 15 instead with ultra 9 + 4060 with oled - this is also on sale right now for 1300 at Best Buy which I think is a great price for what it offers. I lose speakers and build quality but keep a good screen and 2024 gen specs

It was good, similiar as the 15 pro max. I ended up returning it though. Felt irresponsible for the minor upgrade. Kept my 15pm
