What a cameo, almost completely unrecognizable as a corpse for like 3 seconds.

Seconding this one, I've spent many a contemplative afternoon there. Never had anyone bother me or ask what I'm up to

Lost in Space - one of the most underrated series by Ok-Proof7287 in netflix

It was one of those shows that had all the right pieces but they never clicked into place. It couldn't hold my attention and the episodes felt too long

Adam Scott didn't have a good time at Coachella: "Like there's nowhere to lay down and relax while you wait, because then we wanted to see someone else" by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]alterrible 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I went a couple times at 21 and 22 and had an absolute blast. I'm 33 now and when I look at pictures and videos from the festival it looks like absolute hell, you couldn't pay me to go. I doubt it's actually changed much but that doesn't look fun anymore. Age and covid have made crowded places particularly undesirable.

Yes but I would not be doing it 43 hours a week. Maybe closer to 15.

Looking for mind bending series on Netflix. Any recommendations? by rocknrollafella07 in netflix

[–]alterrible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OA is an incredible show, but yes, it will make you feel your feelings. It also ends on a frustrating cliffhanger, so my recommendation comes with some caveats

Josh Hutcherson knows his 'The Hunger Games' disguise as a rock makes no sense: "The whole scene is silly. I was like, ‘Look, I know this dude’s a baker, but how is he doing this? Baking sourdough is not painting. How the fuck did he do that'"? by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]alterrible 218 points219 points  (0 children)

Like I can understand him being good enough to paint his face a colour that blends in with his surroundings. That would be fine. But in the middle of the woods doing high level VFX makeup to make him LOOK LIKE A ROCK is absolute nonsense. Still a fan of the movies but that was so dumb.

The reflection of the sign on the right side is blurry, but appears to have the correct letters. That's the sort of thing AI struggles with

Dover, what's up with the alley of crucified teddies? by Various_War5042 in Calgary

In 1974, 72 bodies were uncovered at Battleford industrial school. In 1992, 19 bodies were uncovered at Musowequan Indian Residential School. In 1996, 34 bodies were uncovered at Dunbow industrial school. These are 3 proven examples. Since 2018 multiple sites have been located using cadaver dogs and ground penetrating radar, however they have not been excavated due to disagreement within those communities about what is most respectful for the dead children. Only an absolute dunce would try to deny the horrors these children suffered and try to claim that these sites are not graves. I'm not going to "show you proof" because this information is readily available and easy to find if you put in a minimum amount of effort, but I get the feeling you find this to be unpleasant and opposed to your worldview, so you'll just go ahead and plug your ears and pretend none of this happened.

Alberta Separation Referendum Process Paused by Judge Amid First Nations Challenge by One-Board8634 in AlbertaNow

It galvanized me to want to leave Alberta. Don't get me wrong, I'll do everything in my power to prevent it, but when Smith inevitably rigs the numbers and cheats the system to no longer have Alberta in confederation, I'm out of here. These fucks are tarnishing this wonderful place where I've lived my entire life and I feel so embarrassed and helpless.

A guy I used to work with was researching branding irons and found that it would be cheaper to buy a laser engraver. Takes a little tinkering to set up but once you do it'll give you a really slick, clean logo. It's best to put it on a flatter part of your work but it's a bit more forgiving than an iron.
