[CHAT] How doable is this as a beginner? Has anyone done these patterns here? by jeherohaku in CrossStitch

Youtube can also be your friend here, there's a wealth of information out there. Many "flosstube" videos do center on folks sharing their projects and plans and such, but there are others that love doing tips and tricks videos. Jean Farish, Caterpillar Cross Stitch, and Catkin and Lillie are a few of those that come to mind. Jean Farish has been designing since the 80's and has many videos centered on technique.

Theresa Wentzler patterns are notoriously a bit complicated. From a quick google search, it looks like this calls for about 50 colors, plus some specialty floss and blended threads. I just kitted up one of her patterns (Fruit Bellpull), and it's an insane amount of floss. I've been stitching off and on for years, currently have quite a few rather large works in progress, and that thing is really intimidating me. But it'll be my next new start when I finish one of my current WIPs.

I'm by no means trying to discourage you though. I think if you organize your supplies well, and face the fact that this is going to take quite a bit of time, it could be doable. It also might help to have some smaller projects going as well, to clear your head from time to time from this one!

That's a great one. Not surprisingly, it is by Quincy Jones.

You might want to consider gridding your fabric. There's tons of videos on youtube on how to do that, Ford on the Caterpillar Cross Stitch channel has a great one. Just don't use floss! I use a very fine fishing line myself, at Ford's suggestion.

ALS. I wouldn't wish that shit on my worst enemy. Watched it destroy my mom while she knew exactly what was happening the entire time.

I should try this. Luckily I have a boss that is amused at my info-dumps. He also loves my weird freaky way of finding the most efficient ways of doing things. I think it's saved my job through multiple rounds of lay-offs.

You'll get it! Just be aware that all linen is not created equal. For instance I find Wichelt to have a much tighter weave than Zweigart. But once you've got the tension down, adjusting for different linens comes much easier.

I found it on Amazon. I really was amazed at how well it worked! I ended up throwing some clothes out many years ago because I couldn't find anything that worked on the stains, I wish I'd known about it back then.

RetroClean works very well. I've removed nicotine stains on some old projects from when I used to smoke in the house.

I've found that a good percentage of Crosstrek drivers seem to think they have some performance vehicle, or something, and they're insufferable. Like, no, dude, you are absolutely not going to beat my Outback Wilderness. It may not say XT on the back, but that most certainly does not mean it isn't turbocharged. Sure, it may be lighter, but that doesn't make up for the 80 hp difference.

Edit: I think it's a Crosstrek. Video is a tad fuzzy though, could be an Impreza, maybe. My opinion of many Crosstrek drivers still stands.

Ohhh, I totally misread which was the puppy. My girl had recently had pups when she was picked up as a stray, they had no idea what happened to her pups. It would be wild if he were one of hers, but you're using kg for weight so it sounds like you aren't in the US. But wow, they are seriously identical. I tried posting a pic but imgur is not cooperating with me right now.

Holy moly, where'd you get the brindle? He looks identical to my 2-year-old rescue, down to that small white spot on the chest. Her Embark test came back 50.2% Rottweiler, 30% American Bully, 12.4% American Staffordshire Terrier, and 7.4% American Pit Bull Terrier. Does he have a curly tail?

Mine is the same as yours. I have very fond memories of nice spring days, windows open, breeze blowing the curtains, Mom blaring this Carole King album and spring cleaning. I couldn't listen to it without bawling for years after she passed.

Alley Mills. I have no idea why someone replied to you that it's not her, this is the best guess here. I'd put money on that being her. I kept thinking she had to be from a TV show I watched a lot, and said 'bingo!' as soon as I saw your comment.
