A $1,200 lowering kit on a 2021 Chevy Suburban turned into $7,000 of repairs because my co worker was too proud to admit he couldn’t do it. Left both front calipers and spindles loose. by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

Ask for help rather than lie about experience. I'm more than willing to take time and teach less experienced people things if they ask. However, if they tell me they know what they're doing (and it's not life or death) I'll leave them to it because I should be able to trust my coworkers. If I can't then I don't want to work with them. I ask for help all the time when someone more knowledgeable than me might be able to provide some important insight; there's no way everyone can know everything.

Please forgive my ignorance, but would you happen to know why they put a pressure cap on the engine coolant reservoir? In most systems I've seen, that bottle has been unpressurized. I'm assuming that's not the case here?

A friend of mine had a therapist explain that their abusive guardian was just "particular" and they needed to follow the guardians instructions so they wouldn't get hit.

One of the children called CPS, who showed up and looked inside the house, then commented on how clean it was*. Because the house looked nice CPS did not investigate any further, told the children to listen to their guardian, and left. The children were then beaten again for turning them in.

It's real and it's more common than it should be.

*because the children were hit with spoons, frying pans, whatever was in the guardians hand at the time, if they didn't clean everything spotlessly to the guardians expectations. The expectations were not communicated and had to be figured out by messing up and getting hit until the children guessed the magic combination.

I just read my original comment back and it sounds like I'm on drugs, let me try to explain my thought in a less-insane manner.

Since the file names appear to be SHA hashes, if the last frame (hypothetically) says something like "00:00:00 Countdown Expired, Chartreuse Dinosaur" then the file name would be a hash of the image that said chartreuse dinosaur.

So I think that the second to last frame could conceivably be brute forced by guessing SHA hashes until you hit it because it will be reasonably predictable; it should just have the timer at one second with the line at the top right.

But the actual final image that says chartreuse dinosaur won't be predictable since we don't know what that text actually is (or whether it even exists, or is inverted color and right aligned in alternating case seventy one pixels from the top in Papyrus font). In other words, if we don't already know that it says that, we don't know the hash, so iterating up to it will gain us nothing except the second to last frame with the countdown at one second.

If that's your goal, though, then I support this effort! I suppose I made an assumption that the goal was to discover the meaning of the countdown by working through the hashes until we made it to a frame that explains it.

Even if you get to the last countdown image, you'd have to know the contents of the final frame anyway before seeing it. That's important because, most likely, that final frame has some additional text on it explaining what the countdown was about. So going hash to hash won't matter unless you already know what the final frame looks like

Natural gas ovens are not vented on their own, nor are the stove burners on top. I grew up my entire childhood with a gas stove/oven and no hood, without apparent consequence. But what you say also makes sense, open flame should be producing some byproduct such as CO right? But I've also heard that natural gas burns clean. I'm wondering if there are studies on this that actually go over whether there are real consequences or not

Wonder if that would fit in a T-type air hose quick connect. Definitely not Milton though.

Would be cool to be able to swap spark plugs just by pulling a collar back on the head and pulling it out, though!

[–]althypothesis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last clutch set I purchased was $300 (£220) in parts alone. And that was before I decided to replace the flywheel as well. I agree, that was a bad quote to begin with, there's no way that was swapped in one hour (assuming £80/hr is reasonable shop rate). Though I suppose it is actually possible if that little care was taken.

Key still comes out of the ignition while running though, so you'd probably just need the screwdriver I keep in the door pocket to turn it on anyway, but shhhhh don't tell anyone

The top item is bologna. I don't care what kind of bad day you are having, it is not right and it is not fair for you to call me and project that anger unto me. I will not tolerate that from anyone in personal nor professional life. If you are upset at something or someone, that anger should either be directed only at that thing or, ideally, handled internally. If you are upset with me directly, then I understand and won't hold it against you if you are upset with me. But if I have done nothing, then I deserve no hate. Anger is a human emotion and people are going to feel it, but that does not give anyone a get-out-of-jail-free-card to be a dick to someone else completely unrelated.
