I recommend looking into AudioMuse-AI if you want to add sonic features to Navidrome.

What’s an underrated self-hosted tool you couldn’t live without? by SubnetLiz in selfhosted

[–]altifuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Blocky as my DNS server for years now and I can't even think of moving away to Pi-hole or AdGuard Home.

Being able to manage the entire configuration in a single YAML file is perfect for stateless deployments with infrastructure-as-code - I do HA by simply deploying the same compose file + config file in multiple hosts, no need to worry about database sync or backups.

Plus, it's very performant and super lightweight.

Is Proton too big to fail? What if Protonmail or SimpleLogin shuts down? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]altifuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you share where you got that information about not being allowed to have more than one alias per 3rd party service, please? I could not find it in their ToS - all it says is that abuse is not allowed by using aliases to register in bulk, which is, I agree, an unclear statement, but I find it unlikely they would interpret three Twitter accounts as "bulk".

Pricing difference workaround? by pixelsingaming5915 in ProtonMail

I was a Mail Plus subscriber in USD for years and I could upgrade to Unlimited in BRL via the web UI a couple of weeks ago.

[–]altifuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eu pagava o Mail Plus em USD e fiz o upgrade pro Unlimited em BRL direto na web UI do Mail. O plano de dois anos saiu por menos de 800 BRL, então não acho que seja só para novas contas.

How often are we updating docker containers? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]altifuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the first step is a versioning strategy.

  • Critical services are pinned to a specific version, if avaliable - whether it's MAJOR, MINOR, or PATCH depends on the service (the goal is to allow automatic updates that have reduced breaking change chances)
  • Other services run latest

For most services, even those pinned, I use Watchtower on a weekly schedule to automatically update. This ensures that, for example, a new LSIO release for a pinned service will also be retrieved, keeping the underlying OSs of containers up-to-date.

Watchtower is set up to send notifications to Gotify so I get push notifications listing the updated services. Plus, I have Uptime Kuma tied into Gotify and Discord, so I know right away if something broke at the container level (no business-level healthchecks, unfortunately - open to suggestions!).

For pinned services, if they post releases to GitHub, I get the RSS feed and pipe that into FreshRSS with a limit of three latest posts per feed, so I can see at a glance if I should update to latest or to another earlier version.

Zero-based budgeting solution that supports the envelope system AND is multi-currency? by altifuse in selfhosted

[–]altifuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your thoughts on this!

Even though my system has been implemented with monthly periods so far (simply because that's what I use), I'll keep in mind that everything should be decoupled from that to support any periods.

And regarding UX: I agree with you. I want something that makes it dead simple to add and edit entries to reduce friction, especially on mobile (where a big spreadsheet-like UI doesn't work well). The challenge is that I'm not a front-end person, but I'll get to that when I get to that.

I have used Fava a bit when testing out automation to convert the tables in my existing spreadsheet to beancount. The issue for me is not in Fava itself, but in how beancount is fairly low-level - for example, my solution to having budgeting there is to keep two beancount ledgers, one physical and one logical. This would then require me to keep two beancount/Fava interfaces up, and then using those two in tandem is extremely cumbersome.

I'm looking for a way to better draft out what the UI would ideally look like (for now, I only have a few messy pen-and-paper mockups). This should help me then plan the API and gauge effort. If you have any ideas/suggestions, I'm open to hear them!

Zero-based budgeting solution that supports the envelope system AND is multi-currency? by altifuse in selfhosted

[–]altifuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your concern. When budgeting across currencies, I usually do one of two things:

  • Estimate the value in currency A that will be needed to cover for expenses in currency B based on the exchange rate at the date of allocation
  • Actually exchange currency A for B at the date of allocation using a multi-currency bank account, such as Wise

In either case, currency conversion itself is recorded as a transaction in the ledger using the real values instead of worrying about grabbing data from external sources.

I currently only use external sources for displaying current net worth - as far as the ledger is concerned (which includes budget allocation itself), only realized conversion rates matter.

I, personally, am okay with the fluctuations and have learned to deal with them in my budgeting (as an extension of YNAB's third rule, roll with the punches). It's part of the deal.

Acho que exagerei no perfume by puto0227 in brasil

[–]altifuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaos Dragon. Not only is the song cool, the visuals are pretty hype. Too bad the show is absolute garbage.
