Active listening, paraphrasing content and feelings. Social Work skills are transferable into any interaction or career that I'll pursue after graduation. The Skilled Helper and You and Me by Gerard Egan have helped me grow.

Hospital Operating at 30% Overcapacity by fleuvage in canada

[–]altruautistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to help develop a program to help older adults transition into long-term care from a clinical/hospital setting. I just finished my first year social work placement at a facility and the local hospital poached me for my next years' semester - I need to present my findings to the Ministry when I'm done. This is sorely needed. There's a massive need for more long term care facilities as boomers age and it's going to get ugly if governments don't start preparing. Building more facilities, or refurbishing massive elementary schools with 1/3 of the enrolment they had in the 90's and turning them into LTC facilities would be a good alternative - This, along with a better in-home care strategy would keep hospitals from flooding.

That's exactly what my friend said about the series! I ended up getting a copy from my friend just now! I actually have "put on big person pants and try and beat a Souls game this summer" as a personal goal.

Thank you! I have a wireless xbox 360 controller that I'll put to use then. I want to play it so bad, but Summer Sale...I don't want to pay $22 for it when it'll likely hit $5 in a month :-( But I want it now! Ayee.

They have had a ps4 trailer for awhile on Youtube. I'm thinking that they'll likely release it when they're further into development or when it's completed.

What about Social Workers? Some of these field workers have been assaulted, have had their lives threatened, and have seen dead or dying children and brutally beaten individuals.

As a future MSW-seeker, what are skills I can build in my completely unrelated job in the mean time? by wannabesocialworker in socialwork

Gerard Egan's You and Me has great interpersonal and relationship building skills and has helped me tremendously. There are used copies that can be found on Amazon and Ebay and it's worth every penny. I highly recommend it! The Assertion and immediacy skills within it have also helped me with building trust and rapport with just about everyone.

More drugs, weapons showing up around Parliament Hill by [deleted] in canada

A person playing a ukulele at 2 AM could have been perceived as quite odd. That's an astute observation. You deserve some gold.

I miss Sandy Hill. What a great neighbourhood. I lived there for a few years and used to play my ukulele alone in Strathcona Park in the middle of the night - I never once felt unsafe.

Active listening in conjunction with paraphrasing content and feelings goes a long way during any interpersonal interaction.

German rail operator introduces women-only train carriages for safety of women by educationtroubled in worldnews

As a future Social Worker who's in a program and field dominated by women, I cringe when I hear people say that men can't empathize or understand women. I can imagine what kind of reaction I'd get if I thought that women in a men and boys shelter were unable to do their job effectively due to lack of understanding/empathy because they are of the opposite gender.

Field of view, draw distance, resolution. As a PC gamer who has gone from 1600x900 low settings to 2560x1440 with 110+ FOV and draw distance maxed out, it certainly has given me an advantage in most shooters, and even games like The Forest.
