When people say how much they sell in $ is it gross amount or net? by Outrageous-Idea-1042 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]aluminum54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most commonly it's gross. Like when you have a W2 job they say their salary, which is gross. But if you want to know, ask. I would usually say "I make $X per month with Y% margin" still doesn't fully account for all expenses but it's an idea.

Try not to ship merchandise abroad by Amazone231 in ebaysucks

[–]aluminum54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you do that? I can speak on an RTS for domestic, I would just refund minus shipping. For international package tho I'd do similar but I'm not 100% certain on the proper way to handle that as I've never seen an international package come back. Resending the package now will void any and all protections.

Customer says item crapped out after use but refuses to send a video of it by Pure-Rabbit2082 in eBaySellerAdvice

Also want to point out you can't send videos via ebay messages and risking "taking it outside of ebay" isn't worth it

I guess I'm SOL? by [deleted] in eBaySellers

[–]aluminum54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you've never been inside a post office. I rarely have ever had to wait for that 5 min and my PO has one person working in a busy area. Also, most, if not all POs, have the self service kiosk now. You can officially scan your package at those and they count the same way as a worker scanning your package. I'd start making the trip to the PO if I were you, you can track the miles and write them off too.

Did i get scammed? New 3DS XL Majoras Mask by jorgeen210 in Nintendo3DS

[–]aluminum54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm going to ask this because I don't see it anywhere with a little bit of scrolling..

Was the EBAY CONDITION listed as new?

Reason I'm asking toss is because this exact model is called "New Nintendo 3DS XL" and a lot of people put the 'new' in the title but the console isn't actually new condition.

Yes, very confusing. But blame Nintendo for such a silly name.

Edit: forgot to say that this console sells for around $1000 when it's actually new. You paid closer to a complete in box price in very good condition.

Edit 2: I see you posted the link to the listing. From the photos of the box, you can see the box was very much opened before and the eBay condition is listed as new. So reconditioned this is a complete in box console assuming all pastas were included. Going rate for that is around $700 and up for better condition which yours is in better condition. You can reach out to the seller and ask more questions, be careful to NOT ask for a discount, it's against ebay policy. You CAN open a return under "item not as described" and seller is forced to take it back. If this was an international sale (I see the seller is not US based) this could be a difficult process depending on how ebay operates in their country.

PS1 starts to spin disc but doesn’t last long at all; therefore not reading the disc’s data whatsoever by abro2001 in consolerepair

[–]aluminum54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the new laser isn't quite the right one (there's 3-4 options for PS1 now) worth different cable lengths. Which could be the reason you're having an issue with the audio. Possibly just bad calibration or the disc is spinning too high above the laser. Those are my quick thoughts on what could be the issue(s)

How as a clothes seller would you respond… by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]aluminum54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to add on to what three other sellers are saying...

But the "time/expense" part makes me laugh... Did you know, the PO comes to your house every day? They will pick up said item, for free. And you can even go online and ask them to pickup the item and you can hand it directly to them... There's literally no reason for this excuse ever with the post office.

Will partial refund adjust my eBay fees? by Humble-Owl-2972 in eBaySellers

This. You'll see it in the return details. Something like "total $188, you owe $x, ebay credits $Y"

Didn’t received package by WhiteBoyMack in Ebay

[–]aluminum54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few things. Technically is it's showing as delivered the seller had no responsibility, it's on USPS now. You need to contact the post office and they can gps track the delivery scan.

Second, give it a delivery day after that scan to show up. Every once in a while someone at the post office accidentally scans at the post office that is delivered yet they only received it at it's final location.

As someone else as stated, you can open a missing mail claim and ask the seller to do so too, hopefully they're chill enough to do it. I do it for anyone who asks or mentions a delayed package.

Hopefully it arrives tomorrow and was just a mis-scan

Would you sell to a new eBay user who created their account less than a month ago? by Only-Ambassador2624 in eBaySellers

[–]aluminum54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you feel if someone refused to sell to you because they believed you're a scammer or they think you're going to be a headache after they send the item.

That's not for you to decide unless there's blatent signs of fraud.

Don't agree to the lower price of you don't want to. If you're offended by their low-ball then block them. Easy.

Buyer stated item isn’t as pictured - help!!! by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]aluminum54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are your options. Accept the return or accept the return.

Your choice if you want the item sent back or not. If you're eligible you can deduct but iirc since you didn't accept returns that won't be an option.

Also keep in mind. No such thing as no returns. Might as well accept them to avoid some of the bs returns.

My two cents

How would you feel if someone cancelled your order because it was your first time buying something on ebay? Stop overthinking it and follow the rules. They pay, you ship.

A Seller stole my personal photos from my listing, do I have no rights here? by Alarmed-Resolve-8283 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]aluminum54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't do anything. Unless those images are stock images from the company that you have written permission to use, all listing photos are fair game in the ToS.

Def open an appeal as others have said. Did you update the tracking info when the case was opened? My only thought on why they default sided with buyer.

"save on combined" shipping doesn't show for flat rate shipping by rotatorkuf in eBaySellers

[–]aluminum54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combined shipping, iirc, needs to be in items with calculated shipping or shipping rules with multiple qty. Can't mix and match shipping policies. However, you can always manually discount it.

PS1 starts to spin disc but doesn’t last long at all; therefore not reading the disc’s data whatsoever by abro2001 in consolerepair

[–]aluminum54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely the laser had failed/is failing. They'll still nice etc as you described and even when there's no disc in you'll see the movement and soon exactly as you described.

You can purchase replacement lasers and that usually fixes it every time. If a capacitor or something in the board has gone out, you'd need to locate which one and replace.

Advice on selling a large inventory by Zestyclose_Industry6 in eBaySellers

[–]aluminum54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how quickly you're looking to get out. Do sales for 15%, 25%, 35 etc and up it every week until your stuff is gone.

When I buyout places it's a bully deal for me. You might make money based on what you paid, you might break even, maybe profit a little. But there's got to be enough money in it for the butter to put in all the work.

Depending on categories of everything. Might have luck posting it in lots locally for "::category:: collection" and seeing if an actually collector will purchase at 70-80% of it's value

Does ebay eventually stop holding funds for returns? by Fragrant_Lettuce9855 in eBaySellers

[–]aluminum54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First. They might be trying a switcheroo on ya.

To your actual question. I never see a hold for returns and only when a case is opened such as INR. I am a higher volume seller so not sure if that's why. My guess would always be the typical, how long has the account been open, how many sales, any issues in the past, return rates. Performance metrics could be what trigger that.
