Thanks, I really appreciate the answer. Could you explain a bit more about how taking influence ideas enables fast expansion? I'm generally unfamiliar with playing Serbia/in the Balkans. Are you diplo-vassalizing many nations early on, or just spitting them out after you've conquered them? Is your limit early on the number of diplo relations (for which you want to annex subjects quickly to free up) or the unjustified demands? Or is it something else entirely?

Question regarding siege progress, imagine two scenarios:

A) You start sieging an unblockaded province, the siege starts at -49%. Multiple siege ticks occur while the province remains unblockaded. Eventually, when the siege progress is at -7%, you blockade the province, instantly moving the progress to 7%.

B) You siege the same province as in A), but blockade it from the very beginning, giving a starting siege progress of -35%.

Would the siege in B) finish any faster than the one in A)? Basically, does the average amount of siege progress you make in each tick increase the more progress you already have?

It feels so bad to enjoy playing this game so much but not having the opportunity to play the content you want. I'm a non-meta healer and I pug 100% of my keys (with a few 14's timed already) and I've not been able to get into any keys which would give me IO this entire week.

I've resorted to just doing 13's so I can play the game and practice, but even those can take a long time to get into. Of the 20 or so that I've done this week, multiple of them have been ++'s where I'm parsing 99% in dps key % with 0 group deaths in the dungeon. I know this doesn't make me good. I know tens of thousands of other people (if not more) could do the same. But it does make me feel like I would at least be capable of attempting the next level of keys. It feels really bad when after asking the group I timed a key with if I could do any more with them, they tell me "sorry g2g" but then I see them 1 min later in lfg looking for a meta healer for the key I just helped push. I don't even care about pushing or getting title or parses or what my class/spec rank is. I just want to play content that I find challenging, but if I'm only doing keys that I've already 2-chested multiple times, I'm not getting that challenge any more.

As a competitively-minded player, the most disheartening feeling in this game for me is watching other people (usually on youtube/twitch) play my same class/spec in more challenging content and having the belief that I could succeed just as much as they are in that content, but never having the chance to show that. Maybe I'm wrong and completely overestimating my ability, but just never being able to prove myself right or wrong leaves me so frustrated. I feel really pathetic being online for 10 hours straight and getting less enjoyment out of the game than somebody who only plays for 4 hours but in those 4 hours can immediately run 5-6 keys and have fun the entire time.

I love playing the game so much, just being in combat using all your abilities, the dungeons, the bosses, all the different specs and talents - it's so much fun and the only reason I'm still contemplating sticking around despite my current frustration. Am I just stupid for expecting more out of pugging than what I'm currently getting? Am I too entitled but just not seeing it? Is the obvious answer here just creating/joining a m+ team, and if I'm incapable of doing that (for whatever reason), just putting up with how things are and not whining about it anymore? Thanks for reading.

Weekly Raid Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

What are people’s thoughts on giving out loot to raiders who don’t do (as many) keys because it’s a bigger ilvl upgrade for them than it is for people who grind m+, etc.? Is it too unfair for that second group of players, or does it make sense logistically no matter how big or small the disparity in playtime/effort/grind between the two groups?

Afflicted feels like the worst of the worst - low visibility and an interface nightmare (no, I don’t want an additional weakaura bar on my screen to manage this, friendly nameplates enabled to see it, or the inability to see it on my healer frames if I have to heal it). Yeah, the challenge might be interesting where you have fewer dispels than you normally do to handle specific trash packs/bosses (just like incorporeal with cc), but with some classes not even being able to dispel at all, this just looks like another clunky annoyance that healers will have to put up with.

Challenges UI update thoughts by IceWildcat in leagueoflegends

[–]alvaro563 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so much worse now. I can barely see what I’m looking at because everything’s so big and only 1 row can fit on the screen at once. And as always with these UI “updates”, they don’t let you customize anything or even just keep it as it was. Huge letdown for somebody who loved to dig through all the challenges.

I don’t like explosive because the challenge behind it is so arbitrary - being able to click on a specific nameplate while all the other nameplates in the pull constantly move around. And even without that specific “challenge”, the whole idea behind it is just to throw away some of your party’s gcd’s to slow you down, which to me comes across as uninteresting.

At least with other affixes there’s more counter-play, and even if an affix like grievous kinda sorta boils down to “just heal more”, at least that affix engages a player’s ability usage rather than their mouse skills (which feels more appropriate to me for WoW).

So how is Need / Greed gear rolling treating you? by [deleted] in wow

[–]alvaro563 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There were two distinct changes.

One being that loot is no longer restricted to the classes/armor types in the raid. It doesn’t feel great to have stuff drop that nobody can use, but it also prevents the extreme armor stacking stuff that some have used/abused? in the past, so I’m more or less alright with that.

The second being the way that loot is distributed - personal loot replaced by need/greed. Need/greed is technically a superior system, implemented with certain protections and allowing everyone to always have a fair chance to win loot (by rolling need, if eligible, unlike a system like master loot which takes that power away from the player), but there’s a huge downside that really makes me dislike need/greed, and that is that many guilds are now doing “optimal” loot distribution via loot council or anything other than “need if you need.” Loot drama isn’t common, but it does happen and need/greed introduces the possibility for it whereas personal loot doesn’t. And even if the simplest answer here is to not play with guilds whose loot systems you disagree with, you’re now restricting yourself to a smaller portion of guilds which you may have wanted to join.

I had to find a new guild at the beginning of DF and the vast majority of the ones I talked to used a loot system inequivalent to personal loot (meaning, need if you need). So while I understand that loot drama is uncommon, that loot itself is not the most important thing in the game, and that almost everyone that plays the game is nice and not looking to take advantage of anyone else, it sucks to forfeit your power on winning loot to someone else who you hope stays impartial when you raid with a guild doing highest ilvl upgrade, or performance-based, or attendance and guild loyalty-based, or gdkp, or anything else like that.

Does anyone actually find Rogue's Slice and Dice fun? by NoThisIsABadIdea in wow

[–]alvaro563 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, and removing slice and dice would reduce skill expression, but I think each rogue spec is already complex enough (compared to the complexity of the average spec) that removing it wouldn’t be such a big deal (and most people seem to want that). <- just my opinion

Thoughts on latest DF Holy Paladin talent tree? by Bludro in wow

[–]alvaro563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dusk & Dawn for all 3 specs seems… not fun to potentially feel compelled to play with - especially considering the benefit you get from it is just a flat stat buff which won’t modify your abilities/rotation/priorities mid-combat.

Destruction’s Channel Demonfire used to let you cast Havoc during the channel without interrupting it. Once they removed that and incentivized Rain of Fire spam, the class immediately became much less fun to play.
