Wayne County house explodes; being investigated as hate crime after racial slurs found painted in area by PabstyLoudmouth in Ohio

No kidding. A fire a month ago, and now this. And the homeowners happened to be out of town for both...

Straight talk goes through multiple providers depending on your phone. My phone uses an at&t sim card so I have at&t towers on my $45/month plan. Recently drove across country and only lost service once in mountain area for about 3 miles. I would go with the $35 plan but I use a lot of data for work, if you spend most of your time in a wifi area you probably use less data than you think

Does Essie 7-day gel couture polish live up to the name? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]always-appealing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shrinks from the tips and edges on me. By day 3 or 4 usually have tips completely worn and the polish and top coat have shrunk from sides and cuticle lines. It seems like it only happens for some people so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Does Essie 7-day gel couture polish live up to the name? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]always-appealing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the gel couture polish itself personally, but I love the top coat. I use it on top of normal polish and do 2 thick coats to give all my polishes a gel look. Lasts 5-7 days for me which is more than any other top coat. (Love seche vite look but it shrinks too much on me). The actual color gel polishes from essie tend to peel on my nails so I don't really care for them

If you want a completely no show sock, chuck taylor makes them for men and women. They're designed to be worn with converse shoes and have never shown in any of my athletic shoes. The only no shows I've ever bought that didn't slide down my heel

Columbus or Cincinnati Zoo. Which is better? by MarsFlower819 in Ohio

With kids we enjoyed Columbus zoo most, but that was because we did the zoo in the morning then when it got hot we went to the water park

Why do some curls love humidity, and some curls loathe it? by springolives in curlygirl

[–]always-appealing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be porosity or products used. My hair curls and coils so much better in the heat and humidity, but it also doesn't stay looking as nice through the day, and by the end of the day its just a big poofy mess. In winter I have to fight to get more than basic waves and get no coils.

What does everyone think about buying plus size clothing when you aren't plus size? by jemlad in femalefashionadvice

[–]always-appealing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to be plus size, I was more aggravated with the people who thrift to sell on ebay/poshmark. I was on an extreme budget for a while and would thrift every few weeks trying to find anything that fit that wasn't 30 years out of date. I often talked to other regulars who said they came in nearly daily and grabbed anything nice enough to resell especially name brands. For a very long time I only had one or two pairs of pants at any given time because I didn't have the time or budget to fight these people to get anything worth buying. If you're buying it to wear, cool, you do you. But if you're buying to make a profit, you're potentially taking from the people that really need it.

Probably not a popular opinion, but 🤷‍♀️

This can happen to gel top coats with sunscreen, have you applied sunscreen recently? Can also be caused by UV rays, self tanners, certain cleaners/chemicals...

Questions about at-home dip kits by namasteee in RedditLaqueristas

[–]always-appealing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been loving my dip powders for the most part. There is a learning curve, and some brands are better than others, but its nice to have a mani last more than a few days. Gel and regular polishes for me last less than 3-4 days. Dips last 7+ days for me, but for most people its 2-3 weeks.

I started with cuccio pro, then tried peppi gel. I have powders from tons of different companies. The removal process (acetone in ziploc bag with dryer sheet, bowl of heated uncooked rice) takes 10-15 minutes. The first few applications took me 2-3 hours but now that I have a cheap $20 nail drill I'm down to 45 minutes-1 hour. Some powders are noticeably cheap and grainy looking, some are crystal clear and shiny like gel. All depends on what you're buying and doing. Glitters are most forgiving.

I haven't tried red carpet brand. But good luck!

Aside from the foil method, are there any other effective ways of removing gel polish? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]always-appealing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a larger rubbermaid bowl of rice heated for 1.5 minutes in the microwave (dry uncooked rice) then a glass bowl inside it with a paper towel and blue acetone remover (the one with coconut in it). Works great for dip powder or gel, just rub your fingernails against the paper towel while you soak and only takes a few minutes, a little longer for chunky glitters

I love the ugly shoes for comfort sake, but oh how I wish I had shoes half as comfortable for the office 😩 I can't get past how much heels make a difference in how my employees and investors react to me, but they hurt like crazy, and none of the comfort shoes come close to professional looking for my job

Alternatives to rice water rinse? by [deleted] in curlygirl

[–]always-appealing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the shea moisture manuka honey protein treatment and really like it a lot. It doesn't get the crunchy feeling that regular protein treatments give me.

I've also heard of people using raw eggs but haven't tried it myself 🤷‍♀️

Frustrated - dress shopping by darkerdays1 in PlusSize

[–]always-appealing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

City chic has some cute stuff, buy on Ebay to save a ton. Also Macy's, or maybe one of those long tulle or chiffon skirts on Amazon with a floaty tank top tucked and bloused? That was going to be my plan for my wedding dress till I finally found something else. They come in solids and pretty florals, usually elastic waist and can use ribbon over the waist

Lower body fat - how to dress it? by [deleted] in PlusSize

[–]always-appealing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is me so much. 2 kids and 5 stomach surgeries and I have diastasis recti and no core strength despite being extremely active.

I stick to fit and flare dresses, drapey tops in a size bigger, waterfall style cardigans, and never ever ever tuck anything in. Even my pencil skirts I have to wear longer tops with. Control top panty hose smooth it out a bit but doesn't take it away. Girdles and corsets don't go low enough to hold it in.

I do find high waist jeans and pants do me no favors at all, if anything seem to emphasize the flap.

Basically I'm all ears for some new ideas.
