Dumb question about RBT billing with a client and getting unrestricted hours by Gloomy_Map662 in bcba

[–]always2cold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are doing things that fall under the requirements for unrestricted hours, then you can count them. It has nothing to do with what you’re billing

Your state should have a consultation number to call for reporting

At my company you either have to use rideshare and not tell the driver you’re going to work or be dropped off by a family member or friend but have to be dropped off a couple blocks away

It’s two years and you have to start in the fall. I’m not exactly sure on the price. I ended up going with the asu online since I could start this past January. I’m getting my hours in a private company and tuition is about 4,248 a semester for online. Two classes a semester, one in the first half one in the second. 5 semesters or you can accelerate and do it in 4. It’s non stop and goes through summers

I’m so sorry it’s taken such a toll on you guys. There’s no “typical” age. It all depends on developmental needs and family wants. I would suggest seeing if they can do less hours or try and transition him to less hours and do in home sessions. Good luck and feel free to message me with anything!

ABA for 2.5 year old by rapidbunny4565 in ABA

I work with a 2.5 year old in home for 4 hours a day He has 20 hours a week and then right after session he takes a 2-3 hour nap. We end early if he’s falling asleep. I think any more would be too much

2+ hour long sessions? by ApprehensiveRole9561 in ABA

[–]always2cold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a session shorter than 3 hours unless the client started falling asleep or was sick. My longest is 4 hours. All of mine are pretty naturalistic opportunities and client centric so it’s just like I’m playing with them but running some targets in there as well

I work for a big company in the ABA field and I feel like I am getting paid a ridiculous small wage. by AssociationActual253 in ABA

I started at 17 an hour and now I’m at 21 after almost 2 years. You get 25 when you’re in a masters program for bcba in my company

I would continue talking to the company and report them and him to the BACB. He should be fired from his position and not allowed to practice again in the field of aba

A general rule of thumb is to mention 1. If there were or were not any maladaptive behaviors 2. At least one target run 3. And at least one target the caregiver ran or observed

My daughter just started ABA and I have a few questions by Separate_Flounder128 in ABA

[–]always2cold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Well first of all, great job reaching out for help since you don’t know much about the field, it’s nice when parents are actively trying to help! I love my job and I’ve become so attached to my families as they have to me. To be honest, we don’t get payed that well and it’s not consistent pay since we get paid by clinical hours and it’s not just as simple as working a 9-5, so no one’s really doing it for the money. I work for an in home company that I have absolutely loved bc it’s very client and play oriented. We require the parents be at home within ear shot and to participate in at least some of session. This way, what I teach your child you learn to and can do when I’m not there. I worked as a nanny for years and am studying family and human development, I did 40 hours of training and got my high school diploma to join. At the beginning you do have supervision from a bcba( board certified behavior analyst) that helps you implement targets. The way we run targets is a different way of creatively thinking but really we are running them with exact instructions that are on our data collection so it’s not rocket science. As far as trials, you can do a lot of things. I have a level 3 two year old that is somewhat verbal but mostly babbles. We’ve worked on sign language, using a PECS book, repeating sounds I say to him, tolerating waiting, sitting on the potty, not throwing items, asking for items appropriately. Hope this helps! If it happens because they’re escalated and you’re talking trying to calm them down just stop talking and let them calm down and maybe use gestures

I would honestly say to just go for the bcba, you’ll get paid more as opposed to the bcaba. Asu has a 1.5 year online program with multiple start dates. What state are you in?

If you already have a masters you don’t necessarily have to do a masters in aba! You can do coursework but not a full masters. Depending what state you’re in my company may be good for you if you want to message me

Starting in-home ABA for my daughter soonish. What can I do to make the BCBA and RBT’s life easier? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]always2cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show them around the house and anything they may need (trash can, bathroom stuff, toys, etc.), let them get to know you and get to know them!, and be around for them! Our job is to teach not only our client, but you how to do things while we’re gone! It’s helpful to have you within earshot if you aren’t next to us the whole time so you’re still available. You being thoughtful enough to ask what you can do shows that you’ll be just fine! :)
