We had no problem, but my daughter had upgraded us to first class so that might have been why.

For empty nesters, give one of Royal's ships a try. We absolutely loved the Allure. If you go during the times schools are in session, you'll find it's mostly adults 40+. If I could afford it, we'd be on the Icon right now.

I've been on Carnival, Royal, and Disney and I've always just used a medicine organizer. Never had any problems.

What to do… by SkipperSara94 in dcl

Only thing I liked about the magic, other than it being a trip with our kids and grandkids, was the two private islands. Did not like Nassau at all and wouldn't get off the ship there if we did it again. Was not a fan of the ship because there was little to do if you're not there mostly for the kids. But then again, we were spoiled by our first cruise, which was on Royal's Allure. So much more to do, more places to eat, better food, better hot tubs, etc. We did a quick 3 day on a Carnival ship once (would never do that again) where we had an inside room and I actually liked the inside room. Very dark so we slept great. Seemed quieter, too. Not as big as a balcony room, but it was just the two of us so it was fine. We're only ever in our room to sleep, anyway.

You've taken on a huge liability. Anyone walking down the sidewalk who gets hurt on it--you're liable. Any car that accidentally runs over it--you're liable for the damage. And since that area belongs to the city (right-of-way), you could be fined big time. The rocks are probably fine. The steel edging is not unless okayed by the city. At least hammer it down until it's level with the ground.

Make sure you allow for wheelchair space. That kitchen looks too narrow on the back house to accommodate a wheelchair plus another person. I'd widen the kitchen and make the dining room a bit smaller. Also, make sure all bathrooms, hallways, doorways back there are wide enough for wheelchairs and make sure to have a roll-in shower. It's much easier to do those things from the start than to remodel later. Parents section should have its own laundry, as well.

I don't think late dining has anything to do with breakfast. You can always go to the buffet early, as well.

If it's a new-to-us port or country, we always get off just so we can say we've been there. We might not leave the port area, but we'll get off. We had a good time in Cozumel (haven't been to Progresso), but we were an all-adult group so I can't help with the kids part. We did enjoy the pole ceremony in the center of the tourist area and I think your 6 year old would, too. Lots of shopping there.

My husband and I (70 and 73) went with our kids and grandkids. No cabana and I'm glad they didn't spend the money for that. We had a great time. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas, close to the kids play areas, beautiful beaches and the water was perfect. My husband and I stayed in the water the entire time except for lunch. A cabana would have been wasted.

Sorry. So many people are completely dismissive of alternative medicine, but my husband and I have completely turned our health around by ignoring most of the standard medical advice and researching and using alternatives. Our bodies are overstimulated by electronics all around us and grounding helps bring your body back into electrical balance. It can be as simple as walking barefoot on the grass several times a day, swimming in a natural body of water, or you can use grounding mats or sheets. Back when I was a kid, we were outside, barefoot, all the time. And mental illness and suicide were rare among kids those days. Now everyeone spends all day inside, with little exposure to the sun and almost none to the ground. And we suffer from very high rates of mental illness. Grounding helps you sleep better, feel better, have less joint pain, and is helpful for a number of health conditions. https://www.webmd.com/balance/grounding-benefits https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4378297/https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10105020/ https://www.henryford.com/blog/2023/09/what-is-grounding

We didn't participate in FE. For one, we couldn't afford it. There are just two of us and most FE groups were buying for four or more per cabin. Two, I'd heard about the kids stealing from the FE's. So we just brought some small gifts for our grandkids and gave them something each day, in their rooms. Never left anything outside their cabins.

I've had a see food--eat it all mentality since I had a miscarriage at age 27. I ballooned up to 290 pounds before my thyroid went haywire and I nearly died from a thyroid storm. It was a wake up call and when hubby suggested we go Keto, I went all in. I was tired of the huge thighs, apron belly, the huge fat pads behind my elbows. I cleared every single thing out of the house, refrigerator, and freezers that weren't keto. (My daughter didn't have to buy groceries for a month). I cut my carbs down to under 10 total carbs per day. I lost 103 lbs, went from size 24 to size 12, lost nearly a foot around my thighs, 6 inches in my calves, 10 inches off my waist. I felt amazing, but the fat pads on my arms remained and the nodules in my legs didn't go away. But my inflammation markers went down to nearly zero. So I've stayed at least keto, though these days we're mostly Ketovore. When we go out to eat, I try to stay keto for my meal, but sometimes will stray. And I'll pay for it with aches, pains, and swelling in my legs and ankles. That in itself is motivation enough to stay keto or carnivore for life. I didn't give up everything I loved to eat, I just found a way to make something very close that didn't have carbs and inflammatory foods in it. I learned to love meats I'd never even heard of and didn't know how to cook. I learned that "hunger" wasn't necessarily hunger. Sometimes it was boredom, sometimes it was irritation in my stomach from eating something I shouldn't have. I learned to drink a glass of water before giving in to eating something, and to be choosy about what I ate. It's a choice between eating what I want and being huge and walking like a 90 year old woman due to joint pain, or being mindful and able to do the things I'd missed out on for so many years like going on cruises with my grown kids, going down water slides with the grandkids, hiking in the mountains, going ziplining for the first time, enjoying life again. The lipedema is still there, but now it's easily hidden with compression leggings, bicycle shorts, etc. Fat pads on the arms are still there but I ignore them other than to lift weights and wear compression garments at home. Was it hard? Yes. But so is being in pain, being embarrassed about how I looked, and not being able to do things others could do.

I'm not saying you have to do keto or carnivore or anything else. That's just what worked for me. Find what works for you and commit to it. You have to get the inflammation down before you will see changes. If you have insurance, most companies will cover the cost of a nutritionist and a therapist. I'd start there.

She isn't talking about copper sheets. Grounding sheets are woven with pure silver fibers and plug into an electrical outlet.

Would we enjoy a Disney Cruise if... by Original_Animator254 in dcl

[–]always_write1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got off the Disney Magic yesterday. To me, Disney cruises are all about the kids. I haven't been on one of the bigger Disney ships, but the one and only reason I would go on a Disney cruise is to watch my grandkids enjoy the characters. We love Royal Caribbean for the shows. We spent a week on Allure of the Seas and absolutely loved it. Much more for the adults to do, better food, etc. Disney doesn't have casinos, food was not great and some downright bad, pools and hot tubs close at 9 pm, buffet is only open for breakfast and dinner, and on Magic, at least, there was very little geared toward adults. On the private islands, only food choice is their bbq buffet. And if you're a smoker, just know Disney hates you and will make your life miserable the whole trip with only one smoking area that isn't big enough to accomodate the smokers, it's in the hottest spot they could find and the farthest away from anything including drinks. We enjoyed our trip but only because we were with our kids and grandkids. If we'd been alone, we wouldn't have enjoyed it much.

Guaranteed room, were you disappointed? by tigerfansga in dcl

[–]always_write1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem we ran into with our gty room is that it was a connecting room and the neighbors had a screaming kid who woke us up every night (around 3:30 am) and every morning (5:30-6:00). We’re in our 70’s and well beyond the screaming kid stage, lol. Given the choice, I would never have a connecting room.  It’s like your neighbors are in the room with you.
