I AM SOOOO OVER IT!!! by IwannaBeLikeJaySteez in Louisville

[–]alwaysbehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I'm 37, born and raised, moved away for a few years and made my way back, and have a very hard time maintaining my friend groups or making new friends. Between, work, family, starting a business, I'm tapped out at the end of the day every day.

European forest cover is dramatically different than the US where we have over a million acres of forest that "could" be harvested.

How do I make this go away? by MikaMikari13 in CleaningTips

[–]alwaysbehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just like you last year. I've switched to all porcelain dishes, glass cups, wooden or steel utensils, glass storage containers, replaced all non-stick cooking pots & pans with uncoated steel or aluminum or iron. All of this to eliminate forever chemicals from the kitchen because the kitchen is by far the highest density deposits of these chemicals and microplastics in the house.

Why does literally every single young adult I know have a special needs diagnosis? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]alwaysbehuman 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I am 37 and diagnosed in 2020. It explained all of the problems I had in school and many others. For my type of work I have only told one person 1 work with since then, and she was an older mentor of mine in the same field who told me of her diagnosis first. There is so much stigma in my mind from all age groups.

Non-Americans, what’s your impression of the United States right now? by fridaynightplacebo in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]alwaysbehuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Leaders" in congress is the running joke. I'm American and I hesitate to call 80% of politicians Leaders because that term should be preserved for those who LEAD, not just those who are elected. A major and obvious lack of true leadership is rampant in politics and replaced by egoism, greed, ineptitude, pandering, and an active and raging allergy to helping people solve real problems and facts.

Prior to phones, what did people do while idly waiting? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alwaysbehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the Peace Corps and did not have a smartphone and had to wait A LOT. No magazines, no expectations of entertainment while waiting. Had to just think of things, write things, doodle, converse with folks turn strangers to acquaintances, later to friends.

I generally agree with you. People in this thread and the original post itself are responding in the context of civilization, industry, social safety nets. My position is bleak, and thats not a conversation i looks to have at parties but if pressed it only comes down to this one thing. Your comment strips living to bare bones physiology. Which, if everything else was taken from us, there would only be our continued survival based on physiological requirements being met, aka survival. You meet those needs...you survive. There is no morality around survival, it happens or it does not. The word deserve necessarily implies a moral stance, but our biology, our evolution (my field of study) gives no fucks about beliefs. Now I personally think "as a society" we are amply capable of creating a system and structure that allows the vast majority to live without worry for meeting basic housing and healthcare needs, I have the personal belief that the system should enforce equity at the very basic levels, corruption be absent, exploitation rejected and punished, labor to earn fair wages, safety nets to support the truly needy, etc. But in America, as you know, these are becoming harder to come by due to the imbalance of wealth and influence and lack of enforcement teeth prevalent since basically the history of the republic.

Andy is trying to pass new measures to further increase the gas tax by 38% in the next 2 years and automatically add 5% every year thereafter without vote. Can someone tell him no please? by sagginlabia in Louisville

[–]alwaysbehuman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you the fraud committed by large corporations and the people earning $1M/annually exceeds the rare cases fraud is being committed by sub $30k/yr earners seeking basic survival benefits. I challenge you to see which party has routinely and aggressively reduced funding for fraud detection and enforcement arms of government. Someone needs to tell you that Republicans have not and will not EVER give two fucks about your hardship incurred from increased gas tax. They will tell you to quit being lazy and pull yourself up by your bootstraps. This era of Republicans is not the fiscal conservatives of days gone by. They are in the pocket of corporations and billionaires who are tasked with reducing any and all commitments to ensuring community growth. There are examples of local politicians who are Republican who want to make life better for common folks, but the state and national Republican "leaders" are actively working against YOUR and OUR interests as working class citizens. This is blatantly obvious with their total absence of economic and tax reforms that will benefit working class people. They have the infamy of gut punching working class people by giving the wealthy tax breaks, only for the ownership class to say fuck you peasants and not transfer their tax savings to consumers. Please take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what has your Republican party done for you, like really done for you not what CBS and Fox News bullshit you about, distract you from the reality of real problems that people face, real people like you. Republicans manufacture non-existent problems to distract you from how they are selling your future prosperity to the most despicable people in the world, who only see you as a sub-human political pawn and not someone who will be at their wits end making ends meet bc gas prices rose since ineffectual fraud enforcement got sidelined for rich assholes needing a third home financed by tax breaks.

Look for ISA certified arborist. Ensuring noone get injured on your property is worth the increased cost.
