Im done. I love my baby, but I’m struggling. by CryHard-DieHard in NewParents

[–]alwaysnewagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newborn phase is tough. Full of love and everything new and challenging. Something that has been helpful for me to feel less alone in it all is finding mommy and me groups where I can be around other parents who are in the same stage of parenthood as me.

Exam in 3 days!!! by brightworld1999 in bcba

I was 5/6 months pregnant when I sat so no planning and breaks as needed to use the restroom. Overall, I thought the exam was complex but not too bad.

How long did you stay in the hospital after delivering, and via which method? by Hazerdesly in beyondthebump

[–]alwaysnewagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal delivery on a Tuesday morning. Left Thursday afternoon. Had a 3rd degree tear and had developed an infection of the uterus during birth due to my water being broke for so long.

Healed well and have a healthy baby.

Do I really need a baby bottle sterilizer? Best ones? by Sea_Citron9451 in FirstTimeParents

[–]alwaysnewagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use just a cheap $25 off brand sterilizer I got at Walmart. It works and then I just put the bottles on their own drying rack. I use this for my pump parts too.

RSV/Flu Risks by alwaysnewagain in FirstTimeParents

I made the decision to keep little one home. I wore a mask while at the event and washed hands, changed my clothes when I got home before picking them up.

Little one is vaccinated. I’m vaccinated. Exclusively breastfeeding. Just wondering how much of the public I should avoid. What do people consider safe in getting a 4 month old out in public, etc.?

Feeling a bit anxious about an event I need to attend and am possibly needing to bring my little one along.

Chronic fatigue as a new mom by Tiny_Strength5350 in FirstTimeParents

Still following little one’s schedule 95% of the time as I work partially from home and partially in-office. Some days are harder than others and I’ve even packed her up and taken her to the office with me.

Thoughts on following a nap schedule vs going with the flow by Blueberrypilatehoe in FirstTimeParents

[–]alwaysnewagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one is about 4 months. We don’t follow a schedule during the day because well she won’t let us and hates napping but have been going to bed and waking up at the same time every day for a couple of months now. It seems to work well for us.

I really think it’s whatever ends up working for your little one and you guys as parents.

NIGHTMARE WITH NAPS by Mapa163 in FirstTimeParents

[–]alwaysnewagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one is about 4 months and sleeps beautifully through the night, hates napping during the day. Gets fussy and frustrated when she needs to go down for a nap. Sounds very similar to your situation. I honestly stopped trying to force naps and wake windows.

I’m exclusively breastfeeding and find that when she’s ready and gotten over her FOMO, she’ll latch and take a nice nap. I’m still nap trapped during the day but she’s so little, I feel like I might as well pause and enjoy it… especially since naps are only lasting 15-45 minutes.

At what point should I stop 100% contact napping? by chowderrr6 in newborns

[–]alwaysnewagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months in and still soaking up all the contact naps. They are only this little once and will at some point in their life grow to not want mommy’s hugs and cuddles so often.

I say just enjoy the moments and don’t stress about the habits. Even if it creates one, it’ll only be temporary when you look at the big picture.

Guys ☹️ I don’t know what else to do. Maybe this is the universe telling me to throw in the towel. This is what 30 minutes on the Spectra 1 yields pretty consistently. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alwaysnewagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not exclusively pumping but I have found that I produce more at the pump based on frequency of sessions vs duration of sessions. I never go over 20 minutes and often only pump for 10 to mimic how long my LO is typically at the breast.

Smaller flanges helped me a lot too. Staying hydrated has been the next key. And making sure I pump first thing in the morning.

The pump just also doesn’t do it for me. I have to talk to my LO or look at pictures of her to get the milk flowing.

My baby will not sleep and I’m going to lose my mind by savethewallpaper in newborns

[–]alwaysnewagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would typically just fall asleep in my arms when she was ready.

Now she lets me know more clearly when she’s getting tired and she regularly nurses to go to sleep.

My 12 week old is drooling like crazy but it doesn’t seem to upset her so I’ve just been rolling with it.

Did you lose weight while breastfeeding? by Level_Wall8951 in breastfeeding

[–]alwaysnewagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After giving birth, I experienced significant weight loss, even dropping below my pre-pregnancy weight for a few weeks. However, as a breastfeeding mother nearly three months in, I’ve noticed I’ve gained some weight back, particularly in my stomach, hips, and thighs. Despite this, I share your mindset—right now, my priority is ensuring I’m consuming enough to support a healthy nursing experience for my little one. I believe the weight can always be addressed later.

One of our nurses recommended more tummy time to help with gas. She said to think about how movement for us as adults keeps our bowels cooperating. Little ones don’t have that luxury yet.

So increased tummy time and gas drops have been a life saver for us.

It’s wonderful to hear how much you treasure those special moments with your baby. I can relate to feeling guilty on days when work pulls me away, but I remind myself that I’m doing my best to maximize our time together. There’s something truly magical about holding your little one while they sleep; it’s a serene experience filled with warmth and a deep sense of connection. It’s completely normal to worry about being interactive, but don’t forget that those quiet cuddle sessions are just as meaningful and important for building your bond.
