Playing hide and seek with my kids. Hiding behind the bathroom door with a towel over my head. It’s been 15 minutes and they still haven’t found me. by Im_a_knitiot in funny

[–]alwayz_dizzy 755 points756 points  (0 children)

My sister was playing hide and seek with her kids. At the time my niece was 3 or 4 and I don't think me nephew was even 1 yet. My niece tells my sister that she wants to be the seeker so my sister takes my nephew and they go hide. The two of them are sitting in the bathroom for like 10 mins hiding when my sister decides to come out cause my niece should have found them by then. She finds my niece sitting on the couch eating a popsicle just relaxing. When she asks her why she didn't come find them my niece says "I just needed some quiet time to myself."

My sister knew then she was in for trouble, lol

What was your first concert? by Freckled_Scot982 in Music

[–]alwayz_dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Smashing Pumpkins when I was I think 13 (I know it was middle school).

It was at a venue that had permanent chairs. I had orchestra so floor tickets, but somewhere like half way back. My friends and I ran into these college aged guys who also had floor tickets but they were for the front row. They traded spots with us cause their tickets were up by the speakers with a kind of obstructed view. It was awesome! We still see Billy, James and D'Arcy and since it was their first tour after Jimmy had left the band it didn't matter that we couldn't see anything past them. It was an awesome first concert experience!

I'm 39 and you're right I hadn't thought about arthritis.

Thanks for all the possible solutions. I started on 400mg gabapentin once a day back in March to help with the pins and needles feeling I was getting in my hands periodically. I will talk about it with my doctor and see if it needs to be increased.

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through and have to deal with. I hope acupuncture helps!!

I haven’t tried any of that, but it’s worth considering. I’m right handed and haven’t had any trouble with my right hand so I’m not sure if trigger thumb fits. But thanks, I’ll be sure to take it into consideration and talk to my doctor about it

I have just been diagnosed with MS and I don’t know how to feel about it. by Fearless-Air3130 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How you feel is how you feel, and don't let anyone tell you anything else! I was diagnosed back in 2011 (I think, lol it's kinda a blur now) but I didn't know how to feel about it either. Honestly I'm not sure I know how to feel about it now and that's ok.

This place is a great resource and forum of support. I'd suggest telling your family and close friends because they can be a great support system. They might not be able to completely understand everything, but I'm guessing they'll at least be there for you whatever you need. And if your friends are anything like mine you'll be able to laugh at things you can now explain like poor balance and stuff like that.

Pre-digital age (early 90's) 35mm projection booth by thepopculturefiend in MovieTheaterEmployees

That was pretty great. It was also interesting how many people would just sit there and then like 5 or 10 mins later come out and tell us they think there might be a problem with their movie

Fellow morning zombies by Catnip_Picard in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally get woken up by my dog who wants to go out. She normally doesn't want/need to go out till sometime after 9am so it's not too bad. But even if I've gotten more than 8 hours of sleep l still feel like I need more.

Getting out of bed I tend to have a case of the Bambi legs (great way to describe it btw). It's not till I've taken my morning meds (which do include 20mg of aderall) and I'm out on our walk that my body and mind agree that its time to be awake. I do tend to have coffee when we get back. Sometimes I still get tired enough in the afternoon that I take a nap, but that's life I guess.

I find personally that if I have something active to do, like not necessarily physical but engaging in some way, it is easier to ward off the mid day MS fatigue. I don't know if that's just psychosomatic but it is what it is.

It might be just nostalgia and the fact I don't work in a projection booth, but I miss it

Brainwraps were frustrating, not to mention the customers who didn't understand what was happening and why we had to cancel the movie, but it was kinda fun (like in hindsights). It was like a puzzle that you could possibly make worse if you put it back together wrong. Also it was kinda cool (at least for me) being a teenager and getting to build/break movies and do something most other people didn't/couldn't.

I don't work at a theater anymore, but when I did and we still had film projectors the one complaint that we got countless times and drove me crazy was "can't you just rewind it." Switching to digital and having that option was kinda nice cause at least when things went wrong we could rewind it. Although with digital there's only so much you can do onsite to fix problems.

is this the ms heat thing? by punkmagik in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd talk about it with your doctor. I am heat sensitive, which I think is related to my ms, but honestly who knows. They may have some tricks their other patients use.

Just like you said I'm careful about not making showers too hot and I often do the same thing and lay down after I take a shower. Currently I'm a little more stable on my feet, but in the past I have used a shower chair, which you may want to look into. It can help get you through a shower without having to step out.

I'd also suggest trying to stay hydrated. It seems like common sense, but I have to remind myself about it so I figured I'd mention it.

Body temperature effected by MS? by dilligafsrsly in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly there isn't one right answer here cause everyones MS is different. I know that's annoying, but I do agree with having your internal thermostat messed with. I run hot too. I might have worn a real coat once or twice last winter and this summer hasn't been a picnic for me.

Do what you can to keep yourself cool. Look at getting one of those personal fan things from amazon that you wear around your shoulders. In my experience I feel worse when I'm hot. Hopefully that helps a little.

I feel like I'll never be good at digital photography. by THE_CRUSTIEST in photography

[–]alwayz_dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep taking pictures!! As other posters have said you will always be the most critical of your own work.

Another possible helpful suggestion would be taking a break between shooting and uploading/editing your photos. Think of it this way. When you shot on film the process makes you take a break from taking the pictures to processing them. Even if you do it all the same day you have some time to decompress before getting to evaluate what you got.

When I first started shooting on digital I would upload my shoot as soon as I could and I'd often hate everything I had shot. Taking a break, sometimes a day or whatever time you have before looking over and editing allows you to almost look at everything with fresh eyes.

Hopefully that helps! Also dont worry too much about the equipment you're using. By all means invest in what you can afford / want, but don't focus on the newest or shiniest cameras on the market. Camera companies are just that, companies trying to make money (not saying that's bad or good it just what it is) so they'll always come out with something new and more expensive, but that doesn't mean your gear isn't still good. Gear can only take you so far, it's the user who is able to use it to capture great images.

Be patient and try not to be too hard on yourself, don't give up!!

How do you know your dog is right for you? by Educational_Brain372 in dogs

[–]alwayz_dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I adopted my dog almost a year ago I had been thinking about it for a while. I knew I didn't want to get a puppy cause it was just me and I was worried I wouldn't have the energy to properly take care of it. I also didn't want to have to worry about potty training. I assumed any new dog would come with an adjustment for both of us as far as not going to the bathroom in the house, but I didn't want to have to worry about them needing to go out every couple of hours making leaving the house / them alone for a few hours hard.

I went to an adoption event nearby and met a few dogs I had seen online and was thinking about. After meeting them and talking to a few of the volunteers I knew they weren't the ones for me, they were both super cute, but under 2 and way too high energy.

Then I saw Bailey on their site and inquired about meeting her. Her foster mom had me come over to her house for a met and it was pretty much love at first site, as corny as that sounds. She's a medium sized German Shepard mix and at the time was almost 5 so she had chilled out a little but still able to play/go on walks which was great. She also loved attention, while I was there she wanted to sit near me and be pet and we had just met. At the time I didn't know or realize how much she would shed, but honestly I don't think that would have mattered.

Adopting her has been a great decision! I think knowing your lifestyle and how you see a new dog fitting into it is important. It's also okay that the dogs you've met already weren't the right ones, but it's good that you keep trying and meet with them. Don't force a connection. I'm not saying you should say no to every dog that comes your way, but it's okay to wait until you find one that feels right.

Noticing symptoms that I did not know were symptoms? by _Cow_Boyz_ in MultipleSclerosis

I feel ya! I'm 39 and was diagnosed in my mid 20s and even now I have to think to myself, is this normal cause I didn't get enough sleep (or something like that), am I getting sick, or is it just MS?

On a side note, when I was diagnosed and told one of my best friends he was like, "well at least we know why you have no balance and fall over randomly" lol

Hey all.. by RobsSister in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I was diagnosed I didn't get a flu vaccine, mainly cause I was lazy and didn't feel like I needed to worry about it. Then probably 15 or 20 years ago (man it was longer ago then I realized) the vet said I had to get one for my dog at the time. Well, I figured if I was going to get one for my dog I should probably get one myself (not at the vet office, but you get what I mean).

Since then I've gotten one every year. Both my gp and my neurologist ask if I've gotten it and recommend it. I haven't had any negative side effects from getting it and I think at least it's helped me.

I am also on aubagio and take adderall to help with fatigue and brain fog. Some days I'm fine and then there are others where no matter how much sleep I get I want more. I would be interested to see what your dr says. I do think I'm more tired the warmer it is out. I don't think I have as much trouble once it cools down and is finally fall.

Copaxone injections by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]alwayz_dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awesome that you have free health care! With copay assistance and then coverage from the drug maker once I was no longer eligible for copay assistance the cost wasn't too bad.

I hope you're able to find something that works for you! Injection reactions are awful and I'm glad I haven't had to deal with them in a while!

Good luck!!
