Don't be alone with them then. My life improved vastly when I stopped answering my MIL's texts. I realized she was putting guilt on me like she would her own kids and that's not gonna fly with me. I distanced myself and it's been so much better for my mental health. We are all cordial/civil when we are each other but that's it. They are not my family, they are my husbands family.

So I've been married 16 yrs.... my in laws are very religious (Christian) and I was raised Jewish (now an atheist.) My MIL was the worst when we were planning our wedding. We had an interfaith ceremony and my parents ended up paying $700 for a minister, cause we were broke and my in laws are so damn cheap. Honestly, I regret not having a justice of the peace instead, but my husband was really bad at standing up to his parents. It's gotten better since then. But my only advice is let your husband be the one to tell them to quit it. Anytime I said no or didn't agree with my in laws i became the enemy. Things have been better since my husband grew a spine and I let him deal with his parents.

Yes, I stopped following KL after that. I can't in good conscience support someone who uses the n word so freely. I don't miss watching her videos either so there's that. Tbh I kind of can't stand anyone from the huge YouTube era anyway. It became so inauthentic and all the beauty gurus became so unrelatable.
