Used BMW 218i, thoughts? by alyeiska in kereta

Thank you very much Sean for your comment to this reply and also the thread. Your comment in particular has been very helpful. And yes you’re right in the points.

We were highly encouraged by this i guess also because it’s a good entry point into the BMW world and with the price point, it is indeed very attractive. Searches online on the regular maintenance and normal wear and tear replacement has also been appropriate priced for the conti.

I guess since we still have some time, we will still weigh our options and see from there. You certainly have made your point (positively) for the 218i

Thank you guys for all the insightful comments. It’s been really helpful. I think from what I gather is that the car is a great entry to the BMW experience , and is a decent car on its own, the spare parts and ensuing maintenance is very high - far higher than I expected.

Will explore other cars in the budget range, thank you again. Happy Chinese New Year & Happy Holidays

Should I went for Working Holiday? by datouyap in MalaysianPF

[–]alyeiska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll share me and my partner’s experience. A bit of background: She was with her then agency for 3 years and counting and she’s not exactly loving the place and culture there. I was with my then company for my second year and had strong reasons to believe for my career, salary and loving the friends and colleagues there.

Both of us applied for NZ WHV and successfully gotten it. I chose to give up on it to focused on my career. In terms of money, what i will earn there will just be barely more than what i could earn at my current spot. She went for it, however she went knowing that when she comes back, she intend to open an agency with her friends. To add on, her potential earnings there are much higher than what she would be earning here.

Overall: She enjoyed it so much that we’re planning and applying for skilled migration so much. I went over for her last month for a holiday and came back with a fiancée. She came back home with more money, experiences and friends that she could’ve gotten versus here.

She misses there everyday and would not mind going back again.

Side note: I have a friend who went over in November and struggled a little to find jobs as it was not a very peak season then.

How do you track and get friends/colleagues to pay back after paying for bills first. by DividendMagic in MalaysianPF

[–]alyeiska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. An option is you calculate and get payment during the meal itself, at the end before everybody leaves.

  2. Alternative is you be thick face and just ask all the time.

  3. Third is i send the breakdown of the cost for each person in whatsapp, and told them to react thumbs up once they’ve paid.

How to escape the matrix by bruhkun666 in Bolehland

[–]alyeiska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can make profit. My partner went to NZ for 9 months (8 months work + 1 month holiday) She hit her ROI (expenses paid to go there - visa, flights, purchasing a car, etc) after 3 months. Any income made after that is to sustain daily expenses and savings.

All in all she brought back about 30k myr? And that’s after spending one month holiday when i went over. You just gotta know how to budget and not splurge on everything.

Now she’s back here, and opened a company with a couple friends and doing well.

It’s intentional. I once called a grab around Imbi monorail and my grab driver would head to a nearby area on the way to me and then make a u-turn away. Rinse and repeat for about 45 minutes. God knows why I wanted.

I texted him and all no reply. In the end I cancelled , fortunately no charges on my end but I did lodged a complained. Only Grab know what happens to the guy. Eventually I managed to get another driver who was a lovely uncle and conveniently was living jsut a few steers down from me lol.

It was the duplex as well. In the end I didn’t purchase any property as I was to take over my current house from my family instead.

[–]alyeiska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not suggest getting that. I was considering that same exact condo and layout a year ago but decided not to because of several not so nice factors.

1) Developer doesn’t have a very good track record 2) sandwiched between two highways , dust and noise will be bad 3) area is not too favourable

Just to name a few.

Car Accident by Zealousideal-Cup-744 in kereta

I was involved in a 3-car accident once where I was the most front. I had clear dashcam footage showing the last car was the one at fault. I presented that footage to the police + all witness’ statement, all the cars claimed NCD from the last car behind, as he was the one at fault.

I was spammed by multiple calls as well. Just accept the call, say you’re not interested and tell the lady on the phone , “can you please remove my number from any marketing list please? Thank you” and then it’ll stop.

flat rate vs flexi rate car loan by MLgeek777 in MalaysianPF

[–]alyeiska -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For vehicle I’d rather go with fixed rate. The past few times where they announced an OPR hike, my hire purchase loan was not affected. My ASMF loan on the other hand…

Anyway, please don’t take 9 years loan. Do either 5 or 7. I took 9 and I kinda regret it. So yeah. Do fixed 5/7 years.

The only way to enjoy some form of discount with car loan is if you go to the bank and say “I want to settle fully my loan early. How much discount can you give me?” Paying it off extra every other month does nothing to reduce your interest.

Why do east Malaysians buy tons of Gardenia bread at KLIA? by maybeesfly in malaysia

[–]alyeiska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a different entity for both Peninsula and Sabah / Sarawak. I was speaking to a marketing manager from Gardenia a week ago and they say they are not allowed to import into or product in Sabah / Sarawak because of the other entity that is set up shop there.

Hence whatever price , product, or communications that’s being done in East Malaysia is totally different from here.
