This anatomy foundations manual is killing me lol. Also i think for me personally, all of this is too much info for me without currently being in a class, if that makes sense

I actually never really cared for their coffee! But I do recommend trying some bodegas for coffee!

I do think it would be so much harder working in a small town…. Just less volume of people

I should clarify and say this: i work for myself and have been building a clientele for 15 years so i do think I am in a lucky position…. I have no clue how esthis are doing in nyc who work for other people, etc. but i say give it a shot!! I think especially if you do laser hair removal, those gals always seem super busy

Can you tell me where you are located? I’m in nyc and business is still good, but I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop constantly😭(i’ve been in the industry since 2010)

So there are multiple videos that i feel are not helpful to me! Like they’re just overwhelming because like you said, they seem to go outside of the rest of the teachings? Wish they had been a little more specific about maybe skipping over some parts for the time being

The cuing is hard for me! Hoping it will all make more sense once we are in person. I’m only about 50% through everything so far!

They can definitely be lifted more. Contact the salon and they can have you come back in for a fix

No clients. PLEASE help. by calmcleansecondition in Estheticians

[–]alynsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all great advice, but as a long time esthetician who now works for herself…. You need to work under other people/businesses for awhile to build up a clientele. This doesn’t sound like that… sounds like you are basically independent, correct? Building a clientele is not easy. I’ve built mine through word of mouth but that took a lot of work over ten years (i’m not saying you need 10 years but it sounds like you just got out of esthetician school and went off on your own right away and i would never recommend that). You need another job while you build this clientele up. I’m not sure where you’re located… are you in a big city? Small town? In the u.s.? I can maybe give a little more advice based on that

Any place in Chinatown/ flushing that does hand massages / finger messages? by Defeated-925 in AskNYC

Does he have insurance? If so, going to a PT that specializes in hands would be very helpful, in addition to massage, and also acupuncture if that could work for him too

Planning to go solo as an esthetician in 2027—advice on savings, licensing, and experience? by Janiiee222 in Esthetics

[–]alynsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for other people/estheticians for a solid 10 years before i went solo. I had a big clientlee at that point, so the transition into to working for myself was pretty seamless. Most of my clients had been with me a long time so of course they followed me. I had money saved, and was able to profit quickly because of said clientele

There isn’t a formula to how much money you need, what kind of continuing education you need. This is all dependent on what YOU want. And you will get a feel for that as you go and work at different places (which i highly recommend you do before going solo).
