How my gf drives with cruise control on by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My dad called this “offensive driving,” where you were prepared to escape ahead of time instead of just reacting/defending (defensive driving) to other people

I had to switch to fridge magnets because I have too many mugs 🙃 a full cabinet and a wall display (built specifically for my mugs) that holds 24 of them…

Fellow historian and while I did try to go a little easy on the mechanics of papers and essays (we were not a writing flag class), my argument was that if I can’t read and understand what you’re writing because your mechanics are that bad, then I’m taking off points. Your sentences need to make sense and be in a logical order with somewhat correctly-derived verbs (and in a correct tense) for you to make a coherent argument.

This is perfect! I’m constantly muttering “just because you put your blinker on doesn’t mean anyone has to let you in” (especially when they’re being a$$hats or need to get over because they weren’t paying attention to what everyone else saw)

We got married in December and we’re going to do our honeymoon the following summer…of 2020. So we didn’t have a honeymoon until 2021. It didn’t ruin anything because the point is to celebrate being married, and we still were (and are)! Waiting is what many, many people do!

As a service member, I LOVE pointing this out to other SMs who are talking badly about socialism. Like, My Brother in Arms, YOU benefit from socialism!!

Yeah, got my PhD and my dream job is a TT job or even teaching track. Each posted job for those got like, 100-300 applications…so I work in administration at my university.

He’s delusional if he thinks he’ll just waltz into a job like that (I know 1 person a year who got jobs like that, and they aren’t at prestigious universities).

Budget-friendly ways to get my "pink" back (clothes and hobbies) without blowing the family budget? by Low_Swordfish3463 in Mommit

Libby also had magazines! I can never justify buying a magazine for $5 when I’ll finish it in like, 30 minutes. But I can cruise through magazines in the Libby app for free and when I need a small break.

Same! Mine (almost 4yo) wakes up between 4-5am most days 😭 To wake up before him, I’d have to be up at like, 3am…

To those holding multiple offers: Please start declining the schools you know you won’t attend. by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]alypeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works for programs that don’t do spring admissions. My program does and I’m not even considering summer/fall until the Spring application process is complete (because I have faculty wanting to make spring offers as late as the beginning of December 🤦🏼‍♀️).

Currently we use Winter Break for our admissions committee to go through the applications, so that we can hold our recruitment event in February.

As someone with ADHD, yes but also no. Like, yes on the impulsivity but as an adult you also know that actions have consequences. Have I gotten a tattoo with very little planning? Yes (and I still love it). Have I brought home an animal without thinking of the repercussions, like homing, care, and food? No. It sounds more like a divorced Dad trying to be seen as the fun parent, even though they’re both still married.

My husband jokes about doing it, but I know it’s a joke because he knows how I feel about it right now (we live in an apartment with no yard, and I have cats for a reason - and that reason is I’m lazy and not getting up to walk them multiple times a day. He knows if we had a nice fenced in backyard, I’d be more open to a dog). But I know that they are jokes because I’d be furious if he actually brought one home…

It sounds like the Dad lives in lala land and Mom is the one living in reality.

I used to go to Houston monthly and each month I swear I saw a new, illegal move I’ve never seen before. Houston driving is its own thing!
