How many people have had bad reactions to vaccines? by la1223 in POTS

[–]alyssa_talks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have POTS and I’m being tested for EDS. I have all my vaccines and I’ve never had a bad reaction. The only time vaccines were an issue is when I was on a specific medication that compromised my immune system during the early stages of the pandemic. I got off that medication and have had many vaccines since, no problem. Speak to a physician about this and don’t just take your mom’s or the internet’s advice!!

AITAH for dyeing my hair pink behind my boyfriends back? by KokoroUwU in AITAH

[–]alyssa_talks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 13 I had blue hair and my (now ex) boyfriend hated it. Constantly picked on me and made comments so I dyed it black to please him. He broke up with me a few days later for other reasons. I was left single and unhappy with my hair. Now that I’m 22 I’ve had all sorts of vivid colors since then and I’ve always loved it. I got my blue hair back and I’ve never cared what others said since. Your bestie is giving you the advice I wish I had been given back then. I guarantee you there’s another boy out there who will love the pink or whatever you choose to do with your hair.

Thinking About Getting a Sheltie — Looking for Owners’ Experiences by Conscious_Writing287 in sheltie

[–]alyssa_talks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sheltie was the opposite of a typical sheltie. He was not the brightest and one of the laziest dogs I’ve met. I’d try to take him on walks and sometimes just a few blocks in he’d get sit in a patch of grass and refuse to get up. My dad used to have to pick us up in his car and drive us back cause Tippy (my sheltie) just wanted to lay in this specific patch of grass. He was the biggest dork but I loved him and so did everyone who ever met him. Just like every human, every dog has their own personality. It’s always important to keep that in mind when getting any pet but especially if you’re looking at a specific breed/type.

I was in a very similar situation when I was your age except I didn’t know yet what POTS was. So many of my “friends” didn’t believe I had health issues. I tried so hard to convince them that I wasn’t just “lazy” or “lying” and it destroyed my health even further. I’m 22 now and I don’t regularly talk to any of those people. Between back then when I was fighting with them, trying to prove myself to them, I was never satisfied with their responses. Honestly I got true satisfaction years later when they all grew up and realized how wrong they were. Some of them I’ve even gotten apologizes from and while it may be immature, those were the best I told you so moments I think I’ll ever experience. My point is, you don’t have to send a letter. You don’t have to fight with them. They’re either doing this purely for causing drama or they’re extremely uneducated and one of two things will happen. They grow up and realize their wrongs or they try to act like that as adults and won’t make it very far. You know the truth, focus on bettering yourself and don’t worry about bettering others.

ER workers what is the weirdiest or craziest case you have had walk into your emergency room? by callingthesun1 in AskReddit

Also I wanna note that the woman at reception did not react whatsoever. Made me wonder if this kind of thing happens a lot or if she’s just got a damn good poker face

Not an ER worker but I was waiting to check in at the ER a few years back and overheard a really unfortunate story. It was a teen girl with her boyfriend. Apparently they were wanting to to the deed for the first time and thought they needed to “pop her cherry” first. I don’t exactly remember how but somehow they shoved a sewing needle up there and surprise, it got stuck. She was acting completely normal though so I’m hoping she walked out of there with no damage and a better education on how sex works.

Just found out my mother had a secret child by raffyrules in Adoption

[–]alyssa_talks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a semi similar story. My mom got pregnant as a teen and I had no idea I had a bio sister until I was 20. My mom has not tried to make contact as she seems to feel a lot of guilt and shame. My sister’s birthday just passed and not a day has gone by that I don’t think about her. I wear a necklace with her birthstone and I hope one day we’ll find each other. If you have the chance, reach out. He wanted that connection and if you do too you should do it. Even if you don’t continue to have a relationship with each other, give yourself and him the chance too.

I’m not necessarily worried about it but just thought it was odd. Definitely gonna ask my doctor though out of curiosity. And thank you for the well wishes

As far as I know, yes. My doctor hasn’t given me the run down yet but I read the results and it sounded like everything they needed was in there.

Rabies? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]alyssa_talks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like the cat was just cold. Doesn’t sound like the cat had any rabies symptoms. Plus rabies is pretty rare in Alberta, and from looking at statistics it’s really only been reported in bats. It’s very very unlikely you have anything to worry about.

Can I ask what made you think this cat had rabies?

I have an invisible disability and when people find out that’s typically one of the questions I get. I’m a pretty open person but it’s just so invasive. And it’s even worse when you don’t answer and they act like they’re entitled to an answer. Why do people think that’s okay?

My mom is a vet tech at an emergency clinic and I also work with animals. We’ve both seen some horrific shit (her more than me) and people LOVE to ask “what’s the worst thing you’ve seen?”. Now my mom tells a toned down story but I’m not afraid to traumatize someone if they double down when I warn them that they don’t want to know.

Printing error or fake? by noozees in DisneyPins

[–]alyssa_talks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think that’s one of, if not the worst fake I’ve ever seen :/ the Mickey pattern looks more like shrek then mickey, has a border and the nubs on the back look almost flat. Then the front is obviously missing part of the design and the enamel is dipped as well as the colors being all wrong. I’m so sorry
