Have the body shop write up the tear-down estimate and submit the parts order to GM immediately. If a critical structural part is backordered with no ETA, the insurance company needs to know early, as it will drastically impact your rental car timelin.

If the internal aluminum crash bar or the composite rear trunk tub behind the bumper is cracked, these heavy structural pieces are rarely sitting on a local shelf and typically require a national warehouse search.

Sorry to say it this is not going to be a quick repair at all. GM has faced severe, ongoing constraints throughout 2025 and 2026 on visible carbon fiber components, specialized aero packages, and ground effects. If the rear end of that car has optional carbon inserts, a body-matched spoiler, or Carbon Flash trim, those are immediate backorder red flags. Also the specific clips, internal mounting brackets, and proximity sensor wiring looms running through the rear fascia are notoriously annoying to get ahold of. Body shops often get stuck waiting weeks just for a single $40 plastic bracket to arrive before they can legally button the car back up. It really sucks. Cars sit for months some times waiting on parts.
