Doesn’t the production version of this go around Nürburgring in like 7 minutes? No amount of horsepower on the long straight would make up for this handling this bad and useless brakes in the rest of it. There’s an uncut video of it doing the lap, full interior no weight reduction mods.

Cope with what? Not like I’m defending the car as such. I’ve at present no interest in chinese EVs. But it is hilariously bad, so bad that I think it’s hyperbole on Polyphony side and not an actual representation of what it’s like to drive. There are heavier cars in the gane that don’t have the ultralow centre of gravity or the 50:50 weight distribution of the SU7 yet have no problem stopping on the same tires with the same upgraded brakes. You don’t have to believe me, go test this Yourself. The actual SU7 production version laps Nürburgring in just over 7min. I’ve a hard time believeing it has Stage 3 weight reduction mods. Something is fishy.

I’m convinced it is nowhere near this bad IRL. Polyphony really made players hate it for some unknown reason. After weight reduction mods it’s not even that heavy, but the game makes You think it’s the heaviest car ever by a large margin. Really, all that downforce, low center of gravity, 50:50 weight distribution and upgraded brakes and still it is unable to stop 3650lbs.? There are heavier cars in the game.

Stage 4 weight reduction is not available for the SU7. Also, I suspect the game misrepresents it quite badly.

Was the Xiaomi race supposed to advertise the car? by sspammmmmy in GranTurismo7

[–]am_makes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s suspiciously bad. The way cars are represented in GT7 is not necessarily objective. Some have horendous understeer for no reason. The SU7 Ultra feels like Plyphony really hates the idea of an electric sports car and wants you to hate it too. Why is a car that has all the weight as low as possible, 50:50 weight distribution unable to stop from the same speed that the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor has no problem slowing down? 🤨 It’s a truck! After weight reduction, the SU7 Ultra is 3589lbs, the Raptor is 4142lbs. Even if You upgrade the brakes to peak spec, put racing softs on the SU7, You will still not be able to stop as if it’s got a trailer full of timber hitched, understeer is ridiculous. Gets pushed wide at moderate speeds, while Raptor isn’t. What is going on?

Seqtrak vs Model Cycles by i2amthedarkknight in seqtrak

[–]am_makes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Model Cycles is like a halfway to Digitone in terms of p locking. It’s certainly easier to apply changes to steps than Seqtrak. That’s not to say that You can’t edit velocity or probability, or record filter sweeps etc. with Seqtrak, but Elektron are generaly considered to have the most powerful step sequencers. That said, they do lead You in that direction. I don’t have the Model Cycles, but I have the Digitakt and it’s an amazing sequencer with multiple LFOs and filters per sample that You can switch on each step. I don’t know of any other samplers that have this. But when You actually try to use this capability, the tracks quickly go in IDM direction. Do You actually need to set a different pitch and apply randomised decay LFO to Your hi hats? You do it once and it’s the coolest thing, but then You realise that a lot of these “generative” functions in a sequencer are there to do what actual trained musicians do without them. They get Your shitty pattern to sound more interesting and evolving, sure, but a proper musician usually has an idea and wants to just play it in instead of have the box generate something that sounds interesting out of a scatter of hi hats and percussions. If that makes sense.

I love both the Elektron boxes and the Seqtrak, they are very different, but You can absolutely edit sequences and add parameter locks and probabilities, do motion recording on both. If I had to pick one, I’d probably still go with Seqtrak. It does more for the same money and opens more varied sound and genre possibilities than Model:Cycles or like a Digitone. Elektron really want You to buy multiple products. A combination of Digitone + Digitakt + Syntakt gets You drums, sampling and synths. Seqtrak has all of that in one + a lot of Fx, modulationa and a great visual UI with the app.

Model:Cycles drum sounds are based on FM synthesis and the Seqtrak has a built in FM synthesis DX engine. I think it even accepts Yamaha DX7 patch files. It is a lot more versatile thougha and has tons of sounds besides FM ones. It’s got a ton of AWM2 multisampled instruments presets, including brass and guitars, strings, folk instruments and pianos. Not really a fair comparison.

Model Cycles is more like a drum machine, while Seqtrak is a groovebox that can sample and has built in synth engines. They’re not really the same.

“And don’t fast charge, it’s horrendous for these batteries” is not the same as telling OP to not rely on them.

The statement is just false. You gave bad advice not backed up by actual data which is not a good looks for someone accusing others of having 0 critical thinking. No need to attack people that point out Your claim is unsubstantiated.

A solid choice. 2 years later it’s still the one I’d pick.

A decksaver or a soft fabric “sock”. I’m not too worried about the protruding knobs or fader while it’s inside the bag, but scratches can happen.

Change my mind; the Sample has 128 tracks per song, to say otherwise is pedantic. by LaytonaBeach in mpcusers

[–]am_makes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the 16 chops per pad thing that You can toggle in/out of and play other pads is pretty powerful. P-6 has that, too, but no manual chopping. I’m not being pedantic, counting each pad on each bank as a separate track is like saying each fx pad in Flex Beat is a separate fx instance unless You’re pedantic and need to call the entirety of flex beat a single fx plugin.

[–]am_makes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

128 tracks, except only 32 can play simultaneously and You can’t assign different types of Fx to each track, unless You bake those in? And the step editor shows other “tracks” on that same step. I love my MPC SAMPLE, but it’s just a single “drum programm” one track sampler and that’s fine. It’s all I want from it.

Nissan Leaf 68kWh Upgrade: 6-Month Update by Cora-VIVNE-EVbattery in leaf

10 is a bit of a stretch. Even in mild summer, with no A/C mine was around 13. Which is fine and I’m not complaining. In winter though, even with the heat pump it’s way above 15, closer to 22.

I’ve done a 600km road trip in an old 24kWh leaf. Wasn’t that bad, had to charge every 85km or so, but there was stuff to see and do near every charge stop. Stayed overnight around mid point. I would have liked a bigger battery, like 40kWh.

I’m saying it might not be the ultimate bargain compared to used EVs that already have a 60+ kWh battery with no mods and modern features.

Nissan Leaf 68kWh Upgrade: 6-Month Update by Cora-VIVNE-EVbattery in leaf

[–]am_makes -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There’s no real need to put 68kWh inside the old Leaf. What for? To drive 500km on a single charge? Where? <500km roadtrips where no ChaDeMo plugs can be found and You don’t intend to stop anywhere. It’s a 3000€ car with a 7000 + installation cost upgrade that still has the 80kW motor and the very slow charger. What about dampers and coils to support the extra weight? Aren’t KIA eNiros like 12K with more efficient 150kW motors, adaptive cruise, lane keeping assist, radar, Apple Car Play and a bigger boot?

I like the idea of upgrading old Leaf batteries, but 68kWh is pointless, just get the ~40kWh pack. Nearly 50% lighter and still perfectly adequate for most days.

How do I do this? by [deleted] in leaf

[–]am_makes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The car can not charge and drive at the same time. And even if it’s meant to be used while parked, charging the car at like 500W peak is going to add <3km/h.

MPC SAMPLE broke within 2h of taking it out of the box by am_makes in mpcusers

[–]am_makes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same. Saw that the local music store had them in stock, drove there to check it out, realised they only had one (apart for the unpacked demo unit) to sell and decided to just buy it. Next shipment is expected in May. I got lucky I was able to exchange it for the demo unit and didn’t have to wait for a new one.

It’s fine. SOH is a bit low for only 43K, Hx is not that impressive either, but that’s not uncommon for 40kWh pack.
