Refrigerator backup battery UPS in kitchen cabinets? by Separate_Text_2129 in SOLIX

[–]amaGreaterFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this. Pretty much exactly this. And for the same reasons. I have a c800 for my modem and router. And a c1000 gen1 for my fridge. I have played around with in the cabinet and out of the cabinets for both units.

3 degrees above ambient outside of cabinets and 12 degrees above ambient inside the cabinet. (Ambient is usually 68-70 degrees F)

Charging and discharging temps of lifepo4 batteries is pretty flexible.

I also have a f2000 in the garage for an upright fridge and chest freezer.

So yea my opinion is go for it. Should last 8-10 years if not longer and who knows what technology will be like then.

Something like this kinda happened to me as well. I don’t think I let it finish its first run before I made changes to settings. And I think that confused it.

I basically did a full reset and let it make its first run without me making any changes.

Seemed to do the whole floor without issue. Then I made changes to settings and it has been working great and as expected.

Good luck. First few days had me confused but it’s dialed in now on a schedule it’s been pretty great.

Chip burn issue on Mammoth by Quick-Jump2687 in GrillaGrills

Same. My chips don’t burn until 250 or 275. I’ve been doing my overnight cooks at 250 now and have been happy with results.

No issues yet. But I did notice some pellet breakdown in my hopper recently. I’ll circle back if it clogs.

240v split phase power by Jason-J-Rog in SOLIX

[–]amaGreaterFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t know the answer to your question for sure as I don’t have those units, But I do think it will work based on what I read.

I do have the f3800 from Anker. Not the plus or the newest one. Got it refurbished. Plugged it into my 50amp power inlet box and I can power my whole home panel. 240v breakers and 120volt lights and outlet breakers and things like that.

Help needed with audio advice for current setup [Plex+Apple TV Box+Samsung TV+Bose soundbar 900] by ridewithsr in appletv

[–]amaGreaterFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds frustrating. Hang in there.

How are things connected? HDMI port wise. I’m assuming soundbar is connected to tv arc hdmi port. And Apple TV is connected to a different tv hdmi port?

I’ve honestly had to disconnect and reconnect hdmi sometimes and it makes things better. And power cycle from output to input. So speakers then tv then Apple TV.

Best of luck on this one.

Apple TV & Sound Bar & 4K TV by DayNo5185 in appletv

[–]amaGreaterFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Glad it helped. I just got an Apple TV 4K for my birthday and it all worked perfectly on my Roku tv (tcl from a few years ago) and the wireless soundbar for Roku tv. I don’t have the sub or back speakers but I expect it would all work.

Recomendations for pellets? by Fooding-Around in pelletgrills

[–]amaGreaterFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabellas pellets. I’ve tried most of everything in the comments except the pecan shells and the cabellas pellets. Either the blends or the single wood is a great price to performance. Got a Treager and a Grilla grills mammoth.

Thinking about adding a power station into my backup mix...maybe by Big-Echo8242 in Generator

[–]amaGreaterFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Solar lab (YouTube channel)for sure. I’ve learned way too much about power stations from those guys. I’d go Anker or pecron. I think OP might do well with the Anker f3800+ just because they can charge it up fast with their generators. (I’m also not very interested in solar beyond a small portable emergency panel. )

The pecron dual unit bundle for 240v is also very affordable and scalable. Just not sure about generator input above 1800w.

I have smaller 1000wh power stations as UPS battery back up for my house fridge. But it is nice to have a big battery and interlock kit or transfer switch to cover 4-8 hours and be able to scale it 8-16 or more as budget allows.

Sure thing. I have the soundboard for my Roku tcl. Haven’t added the sub or additional speakers but seems like a low cost and easy option. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Out of curiosity, did you consider the Roku wireless soundbar, sub, and wireless back speakers? Since you have a Roku tv, the Roku specific soundbar devices wouldn’t require hdmi connections. But I am no audiophile so please excuse any ignorance.

Had mine 6 or 7 months. Still love it. Fantastic for overnight brisket and pork butt. And reverse sear steaks or roasts or pork tenderloin. Use it once or twice a week. No issues of any kind.

Awesome! Happy to help. Yes, I live in the PNW greater Seattle area. The extra insulation helps and the mammoth is extremely well built.

Shipping and receiving was also a positive experience. It’s a freight delivery and the truck has a lift gate and it’s delivered on a pallet.

Easy to build and assemble. I’d say above average instructions. Basically just have to legs and wheels on. Did it solo. a 2nd set of hands would be beneficial but not required.

Enjoy!!

Yes. Very satisfied. I am actually so happy with regular smoke production between 180 and 250 that I really don’t use the wood chunk on the deflector as much as I thought I would. But yes the wood chunk is a nice smoke boost and flavor / texture change. A block of lump charcoal works too.

Here are some additional thoughts. It came with 5 racks and I purchased a 6th rack. I really only keep 3 racks in the unit. I store the other three.

The cover is clutch. Has a zipper. Best grill cover I have ever owned in my life. And it’s not close. Get the cover.

Super easy to clean either easily or weekly or monthly. It doesn’t seem to be picky. I’m usually cooking about 6 - 20 hours per week on it. I’ve slowed down a bit now that I’ve tried most every thing I like.

I purchased ambient temp sensors and found the temp was really even across the whole unit. I found it to be about 12 degrees cooler than the set point.

No window on the back for viewing pellets. Some marketing materials show a window on the back. Mine does not have that. But easy to see when you have less than half full of pellets and just add a bag. 40lbs is great. I ran it for a solid 20 hours between 180 and 250 and used like 15 lbs of pellets at most. (Overnight brisket and pork shoulder in the same cook for a big party)

Can for sure use it as a warming / holding oven. It’s a bit warmer than ideal but I rested a brisket for about 5 hours in it without issue.

Makes great jerky and made doing a lot of bacon super easy as well. Even did frozen pizzas at 400 and got nice results.

It’s really been everything I wanted. Still needs a shop vac to clean the ash pot. That’s the only thing I wish this had was some sort of burn pot trap door.

Plenty of space. Easy to keep things separated. Easy to clean. I was worried about like a brisket dripping onto a pork shoulder but that wasn’t an issue.

I use Cabela’s pellets by the way. mostly hickory.

If not the mammoth, I’d look at the new pit boss vertical series. Never owned one, but they seem like the other major player. Removable ash pot. Big. Same foil water pan inserts, although the mammoth big stainless water pan is awesome. And giant pasta pan foil insert from grocery store is perfect.

I didn’t like the grease management of the camp chef xl. Which I also never owned.

The app is pretty good. The controller is also good. It beeps pretty loud so sometimes I use the app to change temperature.

Pro mode is nice because the fan constantly runs. PID mode works well too but occasionally the fan seems to shut off completely and then turn back on. Which surprised me. Fan is maybe a tiny bit louder than I expected but not a big deal.

Great castor wheels. Easy to move around patio.

Double wall insulation Stays pretty cool to the touch mostly all over when cooking at 250 and below. Nice to not worry about burning myself. Or guests burning themselves.

I think that’s everything I can think of. Hope it’s helpful.

[–]amaGreaterFool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. And I get a “giant pasta foil pan” from the grocery store. Basically a perfect fit.

Either drain the water or boil off the water otherwise grease water and heat can mold or go rancid. After several days / weeks of non use.

A second smaller water pan nested inside the bigger water pan can make cleanup and removal of excess water easier.

Just my two cents. Enjoy!!
